I use the cvs organic cotton and sterile cotton, the cvs cotton is treated with hydrogen peroxide, any cotton that is white is treated with some sort of chemical to whiten it. I do a two 15 min boils, with a press to drain the water and then a rinse with cold water after each boiling. Lay them out and they should dry overnight. It gets rid of that awefull taste in the beginning.

or if you have no choice, I juice up the cotton and blow into the atty while firing, it's fun seeing the stream come out of the air hole. I do this a couple times and it seems to get the taste out.
