My friend gave me his lightly used Reo Grand as a b-day present. He also included a trustfire 18650 3.7.

First off, I've only been vaping since this past March and have only used my ego and regular atty's. I had a clearomizer (forgot the ohm) but it was warm and the taste was spot on.

My friend said to get a LR so as a test I got a smoketech 510 2.0 LR atty and currently using a alum. drip tip.

When I vape my juice it doesn't taste right. It's LorAnn's spearmint 70/30 from voidmist. It doesn't taste as sweet when I vaped on my ego. It has a more heavier taste (kinda hard to explain but I know not burnt). I know I jumped the gun when I got my atty (didn't clean out most of the gunk) and knew it would've gone away after a while. It's been almost 4 days now and I can't really taste the difference.

Could it be, the juice wasn't "made for LR attys?" If not which would be a good choice...I really like that flavor.

The LR atty is too high or low in terms of ohms?

Or am I just thinking too much and the taste will go back the way I like it?

I really like this mod and am very new to use this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats on your Grand! They are a wonderful first REO.
The LR 2.0 atty is usually what is recommended for a sweeter juice. It tends to let the flavor show through more than the lower ohms.
I recommend you pick up some of the AW IMR 18650 3.7 1600mAh batteries. They work really well on the REO's. In fact that is what is recommended. Their performance is just great.
Getting the right amount of juice in your atty will make a difference also. We call it squonking. While drawing on the atty, give the bottle a slight push. You will hear a gurgle. Then you can vape. It is a learning curve but will soon become second nature.
I think you will find more flavor with a new atty, or at least one that is cleaned. You could also try a cartomizer.

thanks all for the response. I just read about the batteries. ATM the current ones seem to do ok for me but will get the recommended ones when I place a new order for my stuff. BTW would those batteries be able to charge w/my current charger? I have the universal trustfire one and since I'm at work I don't know the exact specs off hand.

@mlinky my atty is brand new and there's probably still some "pre-juice" in there left. I haven't tried my old atty yet but will when I get home. I did notice that my co-workers said the smell was sweet. So something must be right. Another thing I'm assuming would be my drip tip. It is aluminum so I'm sure its giving off a certain taste. I think I'll order another type...delrin or the clear type ones to see if that works.

Just a quick update...I think the culprit was mainly leftover primer in my atty. The taste is much better now but I'll most likely change my drip tip to something else other than aluminum.

@mvgratz...that's the one! Good to know I don't need to buy another charger.
@wigglr....I haven't tried my old atty yet but it should be ok now...plus I realized I need to clean them soon.
@pianoguy....that could be possible but I think it's going away. It'll get cleaned before I switch to a "newer" juice since my current one is almost done.

I'm getting used to vaping on the reo more and loving it! Thanks all for the info, help.

Oh yeah, any tips w/the door? It always seem to slide off when I put it in my jeans or when I take it out.

A couple ways to tighten up the door - put a ribbon loop around your battery, or put a single wrap of electrical tape around it, leaving some extra to form a "handle". Either of these will apply some friction to the door. Also, some people put a slight bend in the door, but do this at your own risk.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your REO!

Or you can get some craft felt at the craft store (Hobby Lobby, Joanne's) and cut a couple of strips, maybe 3/8 wide and 1/2 - 3/4 long, and use some double sided tape to tape them on the inside of the REO, in back of the battery and bottle. Can be removed/replaced and no sticky stuff on the battery. Also, if you have an Aluminum and Wood REO, the battery will still fit in both.
