Hey Everyone,

I have been vaping since October 2012. I have a few mods now and was looking to upgrade to a Provari. But before I did that, I really wanted to try a bottom feeder. Luckily my friend has a Reo Grand he was willing to let me borrow for the last few days. Needless to say, I am thoroughly impressed. I always loved dripping with my cisco spec 306 but it was just never used much due to the inconvenience.

Now onto my questions. My friend said he would sell me the Reo Grand if I made him an offer. It is good condition with no marks on it. What is a reasonable price to offer him? He told me most Reo Grands go for $140 on the classifieds. I figure for $140, I might as well go for a brand new one and in a better color option (his is all black and I am not exactly crazy about the color). I have also been looking into the blems for $115. Are these blem units pretty bad? And finally, has anyone purchased the raw aluminum units and done their own coating on it? I am thinking about going that route and having it coated in Cerakote. It is a coating for firearms that is ridiculously durable and I can get it in a ton of different colors. My biggest concern with Cerakote is that it may make the finish too think and make the door bind when sliding.

I am super excited to get into a Reo. I honestly don't see myself getting any other mods in the near future, except for maybe more Reo's (it seems to be like a disease in here :D). I will likely get some Reomizers and try my hand at micro coils. I am very eager to ditch cartomizers.

The blemished models Rob (redeyedancer) sells are reported to be 98% pristine and the blemishes are virtually undetectable or negligible.

If your buddy wants to part with his and you're willing to settle for the color scheme, offer him a low ball purchase price and move on to blemished models on ReosMods.com if he doesn't bite.

If you want to go the Cerakote coating route, I suggest you private message, e-mail, or telephone Rob and discuss having him send you a raw body and door to be coated and then sent back to him for final assembly and return to you. And we'd all love to see pics of that!

I fully agree with Mudflap ^

Used for 140? I would just get a new one. I have got all 7 of mine from Rob (REO) as blems. I would not have called them blems - the blems were indistinguishable on 6 of them.

I've always been one of those that will pay a little more to buy new if the option exists. Blem REOs are new, maybe with some very small, hard to find imperfections in finish somewhere.

^^^+1 The blemishes are pretty much in Rob's head....nobody can even find them most of the time. Ha. I'd go for a new one if your friend didn't give you a GREAT price on that used one. (I'm thinking I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a used one.) They do hold their value, but used is used. The blems are brand new....just some tiny little something in the finish makes them less than perfect in Rob's eyes.

EDIT: Having said all that, I just checked and there's not one Grand in the blem section.....so. Maybe just go for a new REO Grand. A brand new REO Grand in the color of your choice is only $144. Why would you pay $140 for a used one???? :)

Love your avatar! Based on that, you should get a silver vein or hammertone Reo :)

About blems -- it's all in Rob's head. Of the three that I had, I couldn't find any blemishes on two even with a magnifier. On the third, I could, but it was nothing that it wouldn't otherwise pick up from spending 2 days in my pocket.
