I purchased a NEW Saber Touch 3.7v/6v "Steampunk", from the discount section of Vapor Moon. I recieved it Friday and have yet to get it to work as advertised. Yes I have an email into Vapor Moon, sent it Firday evening, yet to hear back, undertsnadable because of the weekend.

The following is an outline of the things I have done to get this unit to work.

HARDWARE:
batteries I have tried ( please note all fully charged and tested to be good):

4- different brand NEW AW IMR 18650 2000mah ---yes the real ones
6- different NEW 18650 Trustfire Flames 3000mah
4 -Vapage 18650 batteries pretty new charged 3-4 times.
2-Ultrafire NEW 18650 3000mah
2-Ultrafire 18650 2400mah-charged once

I also tried adding battery spacers thinking maybe the batteries are not making good contact-NO GO

I did make sure center pin is making contact on all attys and cartos also put meter in between PV and attys and cartos:
Attomizers:
Joye 510 LR
Joye 306 LR
Madvapes 306 lr
Joye 510 SR

Cartomizers:
Boge 2.o
Smoktech Resurectors
Joye 510 SR

I do have a Meter and tested all the above setups, both on the Saber and another PV, they all work on the NON-Saber PV!!

Tried metal drip tips both Stainless and aluminum!

The following NON hardware things I tried, PLEASE NOTE, I keep my hands very nice and moisturized almost to the point of being clammy, I HATE dry skin!!!!!!! I do NOT have thick or callused hands in ANY way, I am a middle aged woman with very soft and moisturized hands.

Note the following is while touching BOTH end caps and the sensor!!

1. I thought maybe I had to much lotion on my hands, washed and dried them-NO GO Tried more lotion will work until the lotion disipates, now try hanging on to a metal pv with your hands slathered in lotion....yeah doesn't work!

2. I have tried both firing with index finger and thumb- NO GO

3. LICKED-and VERY WET finger/thumb works---YUCK! Once spit dries out NO GO

4. Metal clip from ink pen, when touched to top cap and sensor will fire.

5. Put facial moisturizer on my thumb, works until the moisturizer disipates into the skin.

6. Took apart the bottom end cap and cleaned it out to make better contact NO GO.

7. Cleaned sensor contact with a q-tip ever so slighty moistened with alcohol.-NO GO

The ONLY 2 ways my brand new Saber will work is to use a metal piece touching both the top cap and sensor or
LICKING your freakin thumb/finger every vape, this is absoloutly unacceptable to me for an expensive item!!! Having nicely moisturized hands is not enough to fire this pv, it in fact has to be WET!!

The Vapor Moon website states "MOISTEN" as in moisturized NOT LICK as in WET!!!!

I am almost 2 months off of analogs, and trying to get this pv (which I was very excited about) to work has almost pushed me to go back to analogs, I am so stressed out about the money wasted! I now have to explain to my husband, when he comes home from work tomorrow nite, about the money wasted and see if he can install a button as it will NOT work as is.

PLEASE NOTE!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!For those considering a Saber Touch, please read the fine print about the return policy! You will loose 30% of the purchase price plus you will loose the money to ship it back..... either way you loose if you get a faulty device!

So why would you post a thread like this first thing Sunday morning??? You could have given him until Monday.
Kinda crappy of you to soil Sir Lawrence's reputation without even giving him a chance to reply to you.

See above, definitely the wrong way to handle this. If you notice, he has not posted in this forum for the last few days which seems to be out of charechter for him.

Kinda CRAPPY to get a mod that I paid good money for that does NOT work! I posted everything I have tried so far, hell yes I am frustrated, beyond belief over this. Remember I am the CUSTOMER here not Sir Lawrence..... this is what is worng with the ecig industry that I can see, VERY clicky. I paid for a product and expect it to work!!!!

He may be the nicest guy in the world, but this in fact is a public forum and we have a free market in this country. If a product fails a consumer they have every right to voice such!!!

Sorry karmakatie, nobody's in a clique here. It's just that it would have been nice to see you discuss the problem with Sir_Lawrence before getting so upset, it is the weekend. It may be a small thing that he can fix with no trouble at all. Just can't tell until you talk to him. You may still not like your ST, but just bringing the issue to him directly would have seemed the thing to do. He is a very conscientious man. Give him until Monday? Take care ~ Rebecca

Sir Lawrence did contact me and offer to replace the Saber I can not get to work, and at first I was going to do it but I have sent him the following response:

I just got off the phone with my father-in-law ( Retired Navy Electrical engineer)), he has advised me to not bother with any "touch" switch says they are not reliable, he has offered to put a button in for me and will replace it if ever need be, he says there are in fact very reliable buttons out there. So instead of a refund or returning I am having him take care of it and I can use it in just a day or 2. He states that there are too many variables within the human body ie different resistances, and that anyone trying to run the current mod on a 3.7 volt battery that the body creates too much resistance, ie the needs for fingers to be wet to reduce the resistance. While I aplaud your effort on the "touch" thing, it is not largely reliable.

I wish you and future purchasers all the luck

Sir Lawrence did offer a full refund. And folks considering purchasing do need to take into account what my father-in-law had to say, the man is almost genius.

Sir Lawrence might it not be a bad idea, to also offer a button option for folks, your mods are beautiful but will not work as configured for a large number of users, I hate to see your craftsmanship go to waste. I truly think you would see sales go up, I would happily purchase another IF I know it would work for me out of the gate, as it stands I think the "touch" thing has left a bad taste for folks. I love your customization, something not available in the tube mod market.

Last year i bought two of the 5v Saber touches, one for myself one for my wife. I got them on sale paid full price for the first one ,and only 50.00 for the second one. My saber touch failed in about five Months,so i contacted Sir Lawrence and he told me to send it back and that if he couldnt fix it he would send a new one. Recieved the new one in 7 days from the time i sent it to him. Have ordered two of the vv models. If your saber touch malfunctions dont panic,he will make it right and you will once more be wrapped tightly in the arms of warm and fuzzy. Have a great day all.

Your post got me to thinking......I went and stacked 2 18350's in the Saber it metered at 8.80 so threw a 2.5ohm Dc carto on it, not expecting anything, it fired almost everytime, this left me very puzzled called FIL asked him why, his answer is more voltage is less suseptable to the bodies resistance...can I vape that, no way, I tried and about chocked myself ACK.... I vape 3.7 with LR's.......I would wonder what the stats are on those that have and tried vaping the Saber at 3.7 and had problems getting it to fire without licking, compared to those that vape at 5v and VV..... very interesting

I also bought a Saber Touch 3.7 volt last December 15. Had the same problem you had, contacted Sir Lawrence and was instructed to do all different ways to fire the ST. But licking your thumb is the only way you can fire it until your thumb dries up. He told me to buy an AW imr 18650 batts to make it work. But never had a chance to buy one.
What worked for me was stacking 2 rcr123a. It works fine with that set up.
I agree that it wouldnt really work on 3.7 18650 batt not unless you have your thumb wet. Anyway this should serve as a warning/reminder for people who are thinking of buying a ST. Not to take anything away from Sir Lawrence, he has been helpful and fast responding to my questions. Plus the fact that I like how my ST turned out. IMHO.

I'm just curious here, my mini ST is 3.7, uses a battery(16340) with way less mah than an 18650, and I am being totally honest here when I say that mine fires perfectly without licking(or I wouldn't have ordered 2 more within a month or so span in between). And I do not use lotion, and do outdoor work for a living!! This has me stumped!!

You got me Tat, I have no clue?!? I will say tho we will find out, FIL has picked up the Saber and will know when he gets inside to redo and install a botton for me. He still says the setup is not reliable with a large group of people as eveybody is different, things like wieght, diet, geopgrahic, topicial things all play a role in a persons being resistance, he went into some technical jargon about the bodies own electrical current, yada yada yada until my eyes glazed over.......

My ST Mini works great with the recommended high drain AW IMR batteries. Had it for a week and no problems at all. Also works great on the passthrough. I use lotion, but it's really a non-issue. It's winter, my hands are probably more dry than usual. I also tend to over-wash my hands, most nurses develop this habit and just over-wash even at home. I'm already planning to get my second ST because it works so well.
