I have slowly dropped from 18mg of nic and then once I started sub ohming I had to drop to 12mg cuz I was getting headaches and I started to do lung hits instead of mouth to lung and I had to drop to 6mg of nic to do that cuz the higher nic was choking me. I've also progress up from about 10watts when I was at 18mg of nic to 20 watts at 12mg and now that I'm on 6mg I'm up to 25-30 watts and I'm loving it. I have not felt starved for nicotine at all dropping to 6mg and upping the wattage which is what I feared when I lowered my nic level. So yeah if you are going to go with that RX that goes up to 200 watts you are most likely going to want to drop to at least a 0.5 sub ohm and then drop your nic to 6mg, now that I'm upping my wattage and doing direct lung I'm probably going to drop to 3mg before long.

What resistance coils will you be using in your new atomizer? If you plan to use standard resistance coils, you probably won't need to drop your nic level.

However, if you plan to experiment with sub-ohm coils (1.0 ohm or lower), I'd definitely recommend dropping your nic down to at least 6mg nicotine. Maybe even 3mg.

I've ordered an Augvape Merlin with a RX2/3. Previously I've been vaping 12 nic on a Nautilus Mini with 1.8ohm coils at 13.5W.
Would 6 nic be a good strength to drop down to?
I went from a Nautilus to a Merlin and dropped from 18 mg to 12 mg. Now on a Kayfun v5 clone and the 12mg was too much for me.Dropped to 8 mg now and that is perfect.I MTL on them all.

It depends on how you build out your Merlin. If you go single coil with the air reducer in to simulate a more restrictive mtl feel and a resistance >1 ohm, you can likely use the same juice. If you decide to build a 0.4 ohm coil with full air flow, you might be better off with 6 mg. Only way to know is build it and test it.

For example, right now I use 12 mg nic for my Merlin and Bellus tanks, both ~0.5 ohms. My Crius Plus at 0.3 ohms has 6 mg in it (12 was too much). However, for my Limitless+ with a 0.5 ohm build, 3 mg is enough with the amount of vapor that tank can put out. So it isn't just a matter of just being "subohm" but very much about how it all comes together, especially vapor and airflow.

I've been vaping for almost two years now. I feel I have a very high nic tolerance. In a sub-ohm tank I can't handle any higher than 6 nic.

P.S. I started with almost the same gear you currently are using at 24 nic strength, so short answer is, yes, you may wish to drop the nic down considerably.

If you intend to use Rayon for wicking 3mg will prolly do.
Other considerations taken into account. (ie. you're sub ohming)

Grab a bottle of each 3 and 6 is what I'd do. Or dilute what you've got 100% with PG/VG if you need to. Cheers.

I do plan to go sub ohm and I'm not going to use the restricted airflow. I obviously don't know exactly what ohm my coils are going to land on but I'm going to aim for the 0.4-0.6 area. I didn't know rayon also played a part in this but yes, I'm going to use rayon for wicking.

So with this in mind it sounds like I might want to try 3mg. But I realized that a friend gave me a bottle of 6mg juice that he didn't like the taste of so I'll probably try that first and order either 3 or 6 mg depending on the results.

Thanks for the replies.

For me when I went to a Nautilus Mini I immediately went down to 6MG and within a month was at 3MG. Also 13.5 on 1.8Ω BVC coils is a bit higher than I fire them.

I currently vape 6mg @ 13w with a 1.8ohm setup, 6mg @ 30w with a 0.5ohm setup and 2mg on my mech mods @ about 0.4ohms using rayon (first 2 are cotton).

I can vape tank after tank of 6mg on my Kayfun/Provari setup with zero issues but 6mg on a mech with a Subtank Mini = instant headache.

But to answer your question, you will likely have to go down to 6 but possibly even 3....
