Ann McNeill, a professor of tobacco addiction at the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London, said the findings should persuade health experts to embrace e-cigarettes as a useful weapon in the battle against smoking.

"Electronic cigarettes are the most exciting new development in tobacco control over the last few decades as we have witnessed a rapid uptake of these much less harmful products by smokers," she said in an emailed comment.

"The popularity of e-cigarettes suggests that we now have a product that can compete with cigarettes, thus heralding the first real possibility that cigarette smoking could be phased out."

Why are we not shouting this from the rooftops? Tweeting it, and pasting it on every Facebook page?

You bet I will!!

The interesting thing is that the media are slowly changing their tune "we dont know whats in it" has changed to "they are here to stay, smokers should look into it"

The study showed that vaping was at least as effective(using cigalikes only) as patches,it was approx 7% vs 5% in favour of vaping.

Apparently a 2% difference only makes it as good as rather than better than but I'm taking the win anyway.

...the liberal socialists ain't gonna be happy until they can regulate them, tax them, and control your use of them!

Hmm...sounds kinda those conservative theocratic-corporate-fascists spreading misinformation about the "harmful" effects of ....

I tried patches/gum and I can't imagine either being as effective for smoking cessation as vaping.

I never tried either... I never could imagine the possibility of success with those methods. I'm actually
one of the few long time smokers who WANTED to quit, but never really tried.... until I picked up my first little Ego just OVER A YEAR AGO!!

Not a smoke since (SHAMELESS self-congratulations, (see what I did there?!)

Yay me!!

satrical Kiwi band-- Anything like Spinal Tap? The ultimate Satrical band. Gotta love Nigel, lol

The two main guys did a tv show called "back of the y" and the house band was them and some musician mates then they started releasing singles.

An early 2000's Spinal Tap is about right.

It's all on you tube.

"I would give you one of my beers"
"BUT I'VE ONLY GOT SIX"

Probably not appropriate for the more conservative out there.

There's always been nothing but positive studies and results about e-cigs. But, the liberal socialists ain't gonna be happy until they can regulate them, tax them, and control your use of them!

Sorry, just a little depressed and getting tired of fighting the idiots.

I know, right? The more indisputable the evidence the more enthusiastic the outcry against it. Defies logic.

I'm not sure this can be lain at the feet of just one political party... both are so indebted to the special interests
that bought them.. our congress has rendered itself useless. It's now merely a hood ornament on the Edsel that was once our proud nation.

My contempt for both parties knows no bounds

What if you were limited to Blu disposables? The cessation rates are likely to be far higher when a eGo or other current gen non disposable is used. I know I likely would have failed to quit using a cigalike.

If you tried them there's nothing to imagine at all. The "success" rate is abysmal.

My wife bought me the patch twice a year over a 5 year span. It hurt my arm and I smoked right through them. Yeah I know not supposed to but they didn't do squat. The gum gave me an urge to smoke and tasted like crap.

The only thing with vaping is that I vape too much.

I started with Blu disposable and then bought Premium 100 Starter Pack. Now I am refilling Blu carts. I'm not sure what's next but, something different is in my near future. A common story, I know, my point being that its been 2 months analog free. It was possible for me to quit using a "cigalike", making it possible for anyone with the will. Looking forward to where this journey takes me.
