New Tekkeon Issues/Help Request

Hey All,

Finally just received my Tekkeon mod from a reputable vendor (will with-hold their name)...

I originally got it, charged it and have noticed that after a full charge, it will randomly shut off after a few pulls. I know usage of battery prior to needing to be re-charged varies from user to user, however it certainly should last more than a few pulls regardless of the user.

I was using this on a normal standard joye-e 510 atomizer, not low-res whatsoever.

I am able to use this, and it still works (per-say) - but I want this to be reliable to the point where I dont have to worry about it just turning off when the battery is completely charged, as if I am not around a USB, I can't even get it to work at in any capacity.

So, the unit would go completely off regardless of on/off switch position and show no-light (green, yellow, red) at all.

I would plug it into the charger, and immediately the light is green and I could unplug it right away and the unit now reflects as on, and green light status.

Weird, Eh?

Really not sure whats up here. I emailed the vendor asking for suggestions, and I have tried charging it for a complete charge cycle on a totally different USB/Computer in hopes that would do anything. (not sure of the outcome yet, will post follow-up).

This is not a variable voltage version, it is just the straight 5v.

If anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it forever.

Thanks in advance to anyone/everyone who helps out.

I am in Ontario, Canada - The vendor is far-off into the USA - I want to avoid shipping it back to them as it took forever to get to me - I am hoping to resolve this without having to ship it to them and incur the cost and time etc

well what you have is a short, when you plug it back in it rectifies the matter until it happens again. it is probably a loose wire, or a poorly sodrered area on the unit. it happened with mine not to long ago and i thad to pull it apart and re soder some areas. now if you know a modder up there that can do it then you can have it taken care of locally...or if you have enough guts like i did you may want to take it upon yourself to open it up. it is not to hars look on you tube for jolly tekkeon mod and he has a video on how to open it up and shows the connections

Thanks for the input/help. After reading your post it made complete sense that this was shorting out - to make sure that was the case, I would squeeze and wiggle the device while in the on position in a full charge green light status, and it sure enough would go to red light. I would plug it into the charge, it would go green light, and unplug charger and it would stay green light until I squeezed/wiggled it again turning it to a short-out red.

I took it apart and looked over the connections/board/wiring and everything looked cleanly done and legit - however, a tiny ball of solder that was NOT being used on any wiring was in there, and touching stuff causing the short.

I re-assembled it and it seems to be A-OK.

Will follow-up if the problem comes back up, otherwise let's consider this case-closed and consider me extremely happy.

Word - thanks again
