Hello all,

I just got the trio fifty-one, and have been vaping away for the day. Trying to learn all the right terminology here, it's like learning a new language! Really enjoying it so far, and I see this as slowly fully substituting the need for regular tobacco cigarettes. Only thing is that I got the medium (11mg) nicotine cartridges & eliquid when I'm used to a stronger nicotine dose. Will probably need to order stronger refills.

Does anyone know how many times a cartridge/filter can be refilled before it needs to be disposed of? Also, what other accessories do you guys think are must-haves? I'm thinking a second battery and a car charger would be nice?

Hi and welcome to ECF. Yes, Definitely get a few spare batteries :) I don't know much about the model your using but extra batteries are always good to have on hand. I have a passthrough charger that works at the computer and in my car and it's great. You may want extra cartridges too. Thier lifespan can be tricky . Some last longer than others . Good luck :)

Welcome from Phoenix, Az. I beleive the cartridge will last as long as you want or till it breaks. The filler can be washed a few times or replaced fairly cheap. As far as extras at least one of everything from what I'm understanding ( really depends on what you can afford and how in to it you get ).

Good luck!!

Hey congrats to you on the switch. Glad you're here.

You'll know when the flavor and vapor start to diminish it's time to add juice. When the juice tastes funky in your cartomizer, it's time to toss it. I started with a Smoke51 Trio. The strawberry cartos were yummy (before I'd tasted any juice on the market).

Holding your finger over one of the little airholes (there are two of them) where the ecig battery meets the filter (cartomizer) while you take a pull on it will give you a warmer, better hit. That tip saved me from smoking. The longer and slower the pull the more flavor and vapor you'll get. Cupping your hand over the light at the end of the egic batt helps also. I would take a slow draw until the auto-cutoff activated.

You have to be very careful since you're using an auto battery. If juice gets in there it can fry it. I'd suggest an inexpensive, quality kit online with a manual battery. If you get a 510, your smoke51 cartomizers (filter things) will fit on both. There's a little button on the side that you press when you vape and the battery is sealed and forgiving of juice leakage. They're $28 with 2 ecig batteries and 5 or 6 cartomizers.

510 manual cartomizer kit from smok tech

You'll find several suppliers that sell 510 kits. I stick with ECF suppliers. You have a loud voice if there are issues. You'll want to check that it's the new 2-piece easy style. You'll save some money with the threading matching your Smoke51 and 510 on your cartomizers. Vape happy :)

Boge 3 ohm cartomizer blanks are also good for 510 threading. Warning though - even though Smoke 51 has the same threading as 510 it is not a 510. Its charger can fry a 510 battery and vice versa. So if you get a manual 510, label the screw-in end of your Smoke 51 charger on both sides to make sure you never put a 510 battery in it, and never put a Smoke 51 battery in the 510 charger. They are reverse electrical polarity and their charger will fry or melt or explode the other's batteries - very dangerous. but cartomizers and atomizers don't care about polarity.

Some other nice batteries are the Joye mega xl manual batteries - long (128mm w/ a cartomizer) but 60-70% more charge than the standard 510 battery and I think close to 3x the charge of a Smoke 51 battery.

if you don't want any new batteries right now then just buy blank standard resistance (2.5 to 3 ohm) 510 cartomizers and start trying 18mg eliquid and try one 24mg but if you get too much nic you can get headache or rapid/irregular heartbeat so don't overdo. For those higher nic levels I recommend juice with a bit of VG in it (in cartomizers I use PG juice with 10-20% VG so for example 80PG/20VG). If you vape medium or high nic in 100% PG your mouth, throat or lungs may get irritated (my tongue did). Nicotine is a skin irritant but a bit of VG smooths that out and adds a bit more vapor. But VG is also thicker so I find 20% or less works well in my cartomizers.

Many of the FreedomSMokeUSA juices are available in any PG/VG (but not the samples and not the Specialties). They have a lot of tobacco flavors. Juicy Vapor also offers any PG/VG (their B52 is very interesting - tobacco w/ the taste of a B52 cocktail).

I can get 10 days use out of a Boge cartomizer.

I've been lending out my Smoke51 Trio kit for more than six months to new vapers. As they upgrade they return it and it's shared with another. We don't use the S51 pre-filled cartos. It's much less expensive to buy 510s online and fill ourselves. There have been no issues with regular resistance 510 cartomizers on a S51 Trio. The kit has passed through dozens of hands. We have experienced none of these scary charger issues.

I'm not promoting this particular kit. I had to upgrade within a week or two to keep from smoking cigarettes. I share it because it's what I have and it works. It would not make my top 10 list for recommendations to a noob. When the Trio chargers go kaput we'll move on to a 510 kit.
