I want to start making tobacco flavors. I am curios about percentages with other flavors. I want a blueberry tobacco flavor with about 50% tobacco flavor and 50% blueberry flavor. I know tobacco concentrates are pretty strong, I was thinking about 8% tobacco and 10% blueberry. I am thinking if I do the same % on both the tobacco would overpower the blueberry. Am I thinking along the right lines.

But until you get your five posts, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a response here :)

Blueberry tobacco you say? Sounds interesting. First, you will need to find a tobacco base you like. This can be daunting, and depends on the brand of cigarettes or cigars, or pipe you liked.

Flavorings from different vendors work at different percentages. For example, my mother smoked marlboro reds for... a long time. She likes M-type tobacco that I purchase from myfreedomsmokes. It works best, in her case at 6% strength. Now, if I wanted to add a blueberry note to it, that was just enough, but still made the tobacco flavor shine, I would need to play a little. The blueberry flavor I have is blueberry extra from The Flavor Apprentice. It's noticeable at 1% strength, and full-flavored at 4%. Note that the "extra" means it's super concentrated, so less is needed.

Now that we have those numbers, my tobacco will need to be 6% strength, and just as a trial, I would start the blueberry at 2%. Then, I would play with the percentages a bit until I thought it tasted right.

That's just a simple 2-flavor juice, and you can add other things, like Ethyl Maltol to sweeten it up a bit and make the blueberry flavor stand out a bit, or Acetyl Pyrazine to round out the tobacco flavor, for example.

I know I ranted a bit, but was trying to be thorough. I hope I was able to clear it up a bit for you. Also, head on over to the DIY forums and read a bit, you may not be able to post yet, but you can sure read, and there's lots of info over there.

Good luck! :)

I would like to add that these numbers are a general consensus guideline. YMMV. Mine sure does. 10% Blueberry extra would kill me!

The OP can definitely post here, but he may not get very many informed responses. I am pretty new to DIY, but I don't do tobacco flavors. There are numerous threads in the DIY section discussing tobacco flavors that the OP may find useful and can participate in the discussion once he has 5 posts.

Yes I guess things and people can vary.

One page where I got this from - One was here and another elsewhere.
The one from another site they had a comment next to the blueberry extra saying to them its a weak flavour.

Myself I have yet to try any blueberry flavours.

Though easier to add than take away.

That is a good starting point and there are many ways to approach it from there.
Personally I'd mix 5ml of the tobacco(in a 10ml. bottle) at a given percentage.
Test it and tweak it as needed. If it needs more flavour add 2-5% more depending.
If it's too strong for you add a percentage more of base.
Start small you can always add more.
This will give you ballpark percentages that you can use for future tobacco trials.

Then do the same process with the blueberry. Find your sweet spot.

Then I would start at say a 50/50 mix of the 2 in my clearo.
If you are dripping, I'd try equal drops of each to start.
From there you can decide to add more of one mix or the other to taste.
It ain't rocket science, just trial and error.
It will give you a ballpark area from where you may want to launch your trials in earnest.

Couple tips here
1. Don't use any nic in the trial yet, keep it simple and safe.
2. Mark down your findings and label the bottles well.
3. Don't toss any of your experiments out. Once you find the sweetspots and you mix a larger
quantity you can simply dump all the trials in with it. It shouldn't affect the finished product much
as the trial samples will probably fall on both sides of the sweetspot percentages and balance out.
4.Let it steep! Sometimes it's great off the hop, sometimes it gets better after a couple weeks.

This is what I've done to get a starting point and a better idea of which way to go from there.
Of course you'll add to or delete any or all of these ideas. Make it your own.
Have fun eh!
