Hey everyone. I am in Toronto and just learned about e-cigs about a week ago. I have been reading websites, forums, videos and I'm so confused. I have been smoking for 30 years and want to quit. I have tried every method to no avail. So now e-cig comes along and I am very excited to try it. Now I am so confused on what to buy, whats the best, what tastes the best, ect.. I want something that tastes like a Canadian cigarettes, or close. There is so much product information I gave myself a brain cramp lol. I would like to learn more about this and what to buy, what to stay away from, ect.. So if you can please help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ian

Congrats on your decision to try vaping. I was a smoker on and off, mostly on for 27 years. Today marks my 10 month date of vaping and also my last day that I had a smoke. It can be confusing when you first start reading about ecigs. I highly recommend that you take a look at happyvaper and order an ego kit from there. The owner Jack is in Richmond Hill and gives some outstanding service if you call him he will put you on the right path. He does not sell nic juice, you might want to look at vapables which is also in the GTA. They have a lot of different Canadian tasting flavours. IMHO no juice tastes exactly like smoking anologs, but once you embrace it you will find it a whole lot better.

If you are close Jack orgnaizes a GTA meet once a month at hwy 7 and east beaver creek at the honest lawyer.

Beat advice i have is to read read read this forum and ask questions. So much depends on individual tastes, how much you want to spend, what kind of PV you feel comfortable using for home and out.Good for you ;you will soon know so much but I know there is a massive amount of information and choices to wade thru.I was able to quit a 2ppd 40+ year habit and I had to try many different things before I got to where I'm at.You may want to look into PIF as there are threads that offer trades and give aways even also the clasifieds are a good resource. Please feel free to PM me if I can be of any assistance. One biggie is DO NOT accept any of these "free trial" offers most are bogus.Even though I am not in Canada there is really no difference in the basics of vaping. Good Luck and welcome to ECF! Sue/gramakittycat

Thanks for the welcome guys. I know what I want its just a matter of getting it lol. Basically what I want is a vap that tastes and feels just like a players light cig. I know that's not what I will get. What I do want is something that is close, a product or vendor that has the juice that is closest to an analog as humanly possible. I want a product that has a good battery life, wont die prematurely, something with a good hit on the back of the throat, something that will curb my desire for an analog. Every vendor I researched of course claimed to have the best taste, the best hit, best battery life, fastest recharging ect. What I am hoping for is peoples experiences on which product is best. I dont want to be vaping and then it dies and leaves me hanging and I wind up going out for an analog. I know I should buy a backup, but I still want something that's economical, reliable, and has a close analog taste and hit.

I live about 15 min up the 404 to East Beaver, So I would be very interested in attending one of these meetings. The reason I heard about e-cigs is from that scam free trial commercial American Blue Tip. Soon as I saw that I started researching like mad and giving myself brain cramps. I need to quit smoking. I have bad asthma and smoke a pack a day. I stand out in the freezing cold which triggers my asthma puffing on a cigarette and an inhaler at the sametime. Talk about dumb huh? I have 4 kids, and I really want to watch them grow up, get married and have kids of their own. I wont be able to do that if I continue smoking.

Wow and WOW!!! is all I can say. That's a HUGE feat to give up a habit of 30 years. This is also SOOOO inspiring! Congrats to both of you with nearly 30 years of smoking, and deciding to take the leap.

I had been smoking for 13 years, and thought it was going to be hard to switch to the e-cig. Now, I am blessed, as I found it EASY to get off analogs once I had my kit and selection of juices. To be honest, I got a LOT of juice, probably 25 diffent flavors, all together, which I've accumulated over the last month or so. Most are samples, some are good, some are not so good, but taste is SOOOOO subjective, so it's hard for you to base your purchase on what others say.

I can say that I've tried about 4 differnt Canadian flavors... they are similar, but do not taste the same. At first I found they helped me associate the two, but once you realize it wasn't the taste of cigarettes you enjoyed but the habbit and Nicotine, you will soon be trying other flavors. I love having variety. I drip, so it's easy to mix it up. I probably vape 3 or 4 different flavors a day. I have French Toast vape in the AM with a nice coffee. I smoke my 555, MaxBoro (FreedomSmokeUSA), or ExportEh (HappyVaper, I added Nic) in the day time, and then have some Banana Nut bread or Cinamonbun (FSUSA) after work. So as you can see, what works for me is variety. Some people vape the same stuff all day almost everyday.

What has kept me going is the simple fact that I FEEL BETTER! I used to play Saxaphone, and since I started smoking, lost the lung power. I am gaining it back, and have more engergy than I have in years. I didn't put on 20lbs in the quitting process and that alone was amazing.

Congrats on going for it. What do you have to loose. If you smoke a pack a day @ 8.00 a pack you are spending about 240.00 a month. If you invest that in your starter kit and juices, you will be set for MONTHS! You'll have variety, and will not look back.

I use an eGo 510, a LR atty, and drip. I always have 3 spare atty's on hand. If you are looking for a strong TH, get a 306 LR atty, fits perfectly on the eGo batts. You won't regret it if you are dripping. If you wanna spend a few extra dollars, try the new eGo-T kits. They are designed to make vaping easier, less hassle, and less thought. When you order juice, get several samplers, 30ml of juice should last the average vaper 3 - 5 weeks, so keep that in mind, but you are better to have a little more than run out, and back on the analogs.

Biggest advise, come here, ask questions, and if you're having a crappy day, shoot the breeze with fellow vapers, they'll coach you through bad moments. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Hey anaconda, I cant wait to become a chemist and start mixing. Yeah its the hand to mouth routine that is a mjor part of smoking which vaping takes care of, and the nicotine which again vaping takes care of that too. When the temp gets below minus 5 when I go outside my lung tighten up and I suck on my inhaler as much as I do the cigarette. I need this, I need to quit and so glad I found e-cigs.

I've been vaping for three weeks and only smoked one analog on day 2. I started with a cigarette clone from Vapor 4 Life. It's a very nice 2 piece unit and the pre-filled cartomizers meant I didn't have to fuss with atomizers and filling cartridges, I wanted the switch from analogs to e-cig to be easy so I didn't have any excuse to go back.

After a week I knew I really didn't want the little cigarette clone with the glowing LED on the end. I also wanted longer battery life and to try some of the great e-liquids in all the reviews. So I ordered and Ego kit with extra atomizers, cartridges and even some empty cartomizers. A few days after that the Ego-T tanks and tank atomizers arrived and I haven't looked back. I love the tank system and will just keep the other stuff as an emergency stash.

Get several strengths of liquid. I smoked strong menthols, Kools, for 34 years and was up to a 1.5 packs a day. Most of the time 18mg liquid gets me by, but in the morning and after dinner I need 24mg to take the edge off. When I get a really bad urge for analog I have some 36mg and that works great.

You've made a great decision and good luck.

Thanks and congrats to you. I like full flavour cigarettes so I guess I should go with the higher mg's. does the 36mg harsh? is it comparable to a full flavoured analog? I have no idea what strengths to get.

Definitely come out to the next gta get together. I can virtually guarantee there will be lots of folks more then happy to let you sample their juices (lol, that does not sound quite right but hopefully you know what I mean). Ego sounds like it is exactly what you need. Battery lasts even the heaviest vaper 6 - 8 hours. It comes with two batteries and charge time is about 2 hours so you should be set. If you look around the forum most people will have an ego even if they use something else as well. If you want to have a backup battery get an ego pass through. Which is basically a regular ego 650mah battery with a built in mini usb charger that you can use as it charges.

Even if you don't give up smoking right away every analog avoided is a victory. You might also want to tell us how much you smoke per day and what strength. Would help to make some recommendations on what strength eliquid to start. Most people start between 18 - 24mg depending upon their smoking habits.

lol taste their juices, that sounds vulgar. Me and my wife would most certainly like to come out for the next meeting. When is it? I would need a long lasting battery so I dont have that chance to go outside for an analog. I dont want any reason for me having to go out for a smoke.

I smoke DK indians but are the same as Du Maurier and Players. I smoke around a pack a day, and they have 29mg tar and 2.63mg of nicotine. They are full flavoured. I was out for an analog just a bit ago and studied the taste, hit, feeling of it, and what I am looking for is something that give that good hit on the back of the throat and lungs. Something that satisfies that aspect of smoking.

I live in Atlantic Canada, so maybe if I get really motivated, I will looking a meet here, or even help in organizing one, simply to help people's awareness. I LOVE VAPING!!!

My A-HA moment was when I had a really crappy day, had some really bad news. I had that last pack of u-opened smokes in the cupboard from my last carton. I said the hell with it, I'm having a REAL smoke. I opened the pack, yummmmy, GOD that smells gooooooood!!! I stepped outside with my lighter in hand (I don't smoke in the house), and it hit me like a ton of bricks.... 25 below!!! I promptly turned around, took off my coat, threw my smokes on the kitchen table and picked up my eGo! Sat my azz on the couch and dripped my 555 with Caramel in and HIT THAT HARD! Then I realized that I almost threw away my 2 weeks with no analogs, for what, stress.... the e-cig satisfies my cravings 100% I've never looked back.

I vape 24mg's 50% of the time. In the AM and before bed. The rest of the day I vape 18mg. If I vape 24 all day, I get headaches, but that's likely becuase it's too much for me. I couldn't imagine vaping 36mg... wow.

I'm not Anti-Canadian when it comes to supporting my fellow Canadians, but if you are looking for selection for flavor of juice, go to freedomsmokeusa.com you wont regret it. David stocks everything you need, and I've now placed 5 order there.... yeah 1K dropped, but I've helped 5 co-workers get off Analogs, and am happy to do it!!! FSUSA also sells 30mg juice, so for those extra hard days, you have a choice. If you do order, add Canada Shipping ($9) for a grand total of 14.00 for shipping, but the juice is cheaper, great selection, and NO TAX! Try the MaxBoro, my all time fave (I've tried 25 flavors from all over the place), and Pure Cig (strong raw cig taste). I also love the Banana Nut Bread for desert... hehehe. 4

Cheers

Meets are usually once a month on a Tuesday night starting at 8pm. Last one was Jan 25th so my guess would be Feb 22nd.

You are probably looking at 24-26mg range. I might consider starting somewhere around there. Higher nic generally gives a greater throat hit. As do flavours such as menthol and atomizers like the LR ones others have mentioned. I am reluctant to recommend any higher then that for safety reasons. Since you said you have kids you might want to consider a toolbox or something else that you can put a lock on to ensure they do not get to your liquids.

Remember that you probably don't have a lot of taste buds right now. Once you sto psmoking and switch to vaping they will return in a few weeks. What tastes good to you when you start probably won't be quite as good after a while. So might not want to stock up on a liter of juice that you like so much in week one.

I'm with Filthy on this one, I got an Ego-T and an Ego at the same time, and the Tank version is a vast improvement IMO. I will keep the regular one around in case I have an atomizer emergency and both of my tank ones die on the same day, but the Tank version is definitely going to be my standard vaporizer. It's just so easy to use.
