Hello there my Canadian friend, I am in the same boat as you, inhaler in my pocket at all times just to make sure I dont die, yet I was smoking 3+ packs a day. I went from that to straight vaping overnight, I've been smoke free going on two weeks now. Go for a riva 510, Joye Ego, or t-Rex, those are all the same thing, Joye ego is the original, the others are knockoffs, the kit comes with two batteries and that will last you all day. You won't find a VAPE that tastes just like your smokes, I end up mixing three flavors to get something that tastes kinda like the smokes I like. The first order I made the company sent me 2 free samples with my order, apple, and raspberry. I was like you, never thought I would want anything like that, but I now like a couple drops of apple on my normal tobacco juice, and the weird thing is I never smoked menthols before, but I tried the menthol juice, and it is the most satisfying smoke like thing vie had so far. Good luck, you can do it. I haven't had to use my inhaler in two days :) I was doing two puffs 4 times a day. But for the easiest hassle free e smoke, vie heard praises of the ego-t (it has a see through tank, instead of the cotton like material).

I smoked for 42 years and never thought I could quit. But with the e-cig I have'nt had cig for almost a year now. I love it and so will you if you just hang with it. If I was you I would go with a Riva. Fantastic. Liberty flight has them for 30 dollors. I like Dekang e-liquid so maybe start there and then spend sometime looking at what others say and see what vendors there are. Madvapes china juice is good at a low price and Liberty flights also has some good juice.

Thanks n2xe. I dont really have high expectations, just excited there is an alternative to the patch and gum. If I get a good enough hit that I lose just a little bit of that desire to light up an analog, its a win. I hear about people quiting smoking right away. I dont have that expectation, I expect it will take me a week to a month to stop. I have the desire to stop analogs so thats half the battle right there. The other desire is to see my kids grow up. So anything that will resemble a cig and still give me that hand to mouth action I can bet will work to help me quit. Thank you for all your advise, I am writing some of it down as I go so I know a little of what I'm looking for.

hi Simply me, I dont really like the flavour of American tobacco so I am hoping there is a Canadian blend out there I can get my hands on. I have posted in the Canada forum already so I'm hoping. If there isnt you bet I will be ordering from the States. An American tasting e-cig is better then a Canadian tasting analog any day.

Pneathery, lol I think your my twin, except I smoke 1 pack a day not 3. I puff on that blue inhaler so much I get the shakes. I need to quit smoking and hearing all these success stories only makes me more excited and optimistic. I hope one day to keep my inhaler in my pocket and never have to use it. I expect it will take me awhile and few bucks to get the flavour I like. I am prepared for this to be a chemistry experiment lol.

Hi, I am brand-new, too, and can totally relate. After going through a bit of hell myself finding a good e cig, I now have the problem that my 30 plus smoked-on taste buds are completely, 100% dead. Nothing can get through there, I mean not menthol, hot cinnamon candy, nothing. But I am sticking with it anyway. I can smell the vapor for the most part, and that helps. Also, now that I get my nicotine needs met, regular cigarettes taste like crap. I smoke less and less every day, although I still have cravings for a "real" cig. I think that it's not just the nicotine we miss, but also that the actual mechanics of inhaling are different and it's hard to get used to it. But, YOU DO!
Because I am sucking on this e cig almost constantly, I needed a good battery that's big enough to not have to be charged constantly. I ended up (after trial and much error) with an EGO T with a 1000mAh battery. I bought the renamed model from the TOTALLY WICKED website. They call the ego the Tornado Tank and you buy a beginners kit. You get a 20% discount with the code NY2011. Vapor King has a good price on the ego t and they have a discount too, I think it's ECF69, but don't quote me. You buy the beginners kit (referring to Totally Wicked here) which comes with two "cigarettes" which I will call vaporizers from now on (Personal Vaporizer=PV). You also get 5 pre-filled cartridges with different strengths tobacco juice, a USB charger and a wall charger that the USB charger can be plugged into, or you just use the computer. A little bag and instruction pamphlet is also included. The box it comes in has a magnetized lid, is sturdy, and useful to me for storing bottles of liquid, my syringe, extra cartridges, etc. I think all vaping on-line stores have a similar arrangement with their kits. I think with the discount the tornado is $59 to $69. That is a really good price, but you should do research. There is NO WAY you should spend a lot more than that, it's just not necessary right now. I am considering one of the advanced ones that are named "mods" for the future, which ARE more expensive, but those are meant for more experienced vapers than I am. The Tornado Tank I have is more than enough for now, I really like it.
What I like it so much is that you don't mess with tricky ways to get liquid into the cartridge. You just open your "tank" cartridge, pour in quite a bit of juice, cap it, stick it in the atomizer, screw it all onto the battery, and start vaping. The batteries include in the kit are only 650 mAh so have to charge more often than the 1000, but they are still very, very long-lasting. The colors it comes in are black, red, and pink. The kits are only in blac, but I bought an extra battery and atomizer in red. I also ordered a carrying case, a box of 5 extra black tank cartridges (come in clear, too), and a couple of liquids, or "juices". Although there are some little tricks in terms of cleaning your atomizers, and making sure the atomizer wick stays wet, compared to what I went through before, it's a complete pleasure. I am already down from 2 plus packs a day to 1/2 pack. I can't believe it. I tried EVERYTHING to stop, patches, gum, nasal spray, inhaling little cartridges of nicotine, all the NRTs. I took Chantix, Wellbutrin. I was ready for the hypnotist and then I found out about PVs.
I go around with it, to any store, restaurant, wherever, and I have never had a problem once I explain it. I think we should have pamphlets to hand out! lol
The tobacco taste you are looking for I don't know about. I am really more interested in fruits and anything that DOESN'T taste like smoking, but that's what I wanted in the very beginning, but since reading here, I took a chance on other tastes. I do order the highest nicotine level that's available wherever I'm ordering, but taste-wise it doesn't really matter yet to me- can't taste yet! I have been assured it will come back. BTW, I think both Totally Wicked and Vapor King's juices are too expensive. I am trying Tasty Vape, Kick Bass Vapor, Backwoods Brew (sp) next. They all have great reputations. There are lots of threads about liquids, I would read very carefully and not worry about DIY yet. Just find flavors you like so you'll get hooked on them and not cigarettes anymore. lol

Anyway, keep looking around here and posting, there's an Ask the Veterans thread you might try, too, but they are really good at checking the newbies out and answering our questions. If you like we could pm each other and compare notes. You'll find us for the most part really helpful.
Good Luck. TG:vapor:

Ian, I made a lot of expensive mistakes when I started off. I didn't research anything, what happened is I quit smoking. Made it two days, and was freaking out. Then I remembered my wifes yoga instructor talked her into buying some e-cig a year ago, and I found that and her juice. Turns out that it was a Joye 510 she had two batteries a charger, about 15 pre filled carts, and 20ml of unknown liquid. I used that for 4-5 days, The battery would die in 20 minutes, and the carts didn't last as long as the battery. All that I knew was that this was working, and I just needed for it to last longer, so I googles Joye 510 and ended up on esmonersonline.com, looked around there quickly and spent $290 for two Joye 510 mega kits, plus lots of juice, extra carts, a personal carying charger, a car charger, and a couple of other things. I ended up with a pv that will last for 1-4 hours before I had to change batteries, it was progress. The best thing that came out of it was the mega atomizer/cart. They hold LOTS of juice. However if I had done any sort of research, I could have purchased myself and my wife a Joye Ego-T with upgraded battery. My last juice order I made I ordered a T-Rex from esmokeronline.com for $30.00. I got 2 batteries, attys, carts charger. Although I spent all those dollars, I haven't had to have a smoke :)!

The biggest advice I can give you is make sure you have enough juice. Order twice what you think you need at the begining. You can't just walk into the local gas station and replace it.
Sorry to ramble on, but I just don't want people to make the same mistake I did.
Get the tank system, no mess, no fuss, no juice covering everything, or sucking it in your mouth (yuck).
Ayway, good luck again, you can doo it!!!

I'm afraid I can't help you with Canadian stuff... but I do have a bit of advice. When you decide what flavor to buy. also get a non-tobacco flavor. Coffee, perhaps. Or something fruity. I don't think I'm alone in finding that tobacco flavors don't work for me as much as I expected them to.

edit: just saw your last post. It takes a while for the system to update or something like that. You'll be able to post soonish.

I'm on my third day and i agree with this. I figured the tobacco flavours would be terrific. From my experience so far, I am far more satisfied with a mint flavour vapour - and I absolutely hated menthol cigs as a smoker. Strange.

There are so many options. I am sure I will spend a small fortune mixing and matching and finding out what works best for me and my wife. I was afraid I would buy something that had the battery life of 1 analog. I need something that will last a long time and charge rather quickly. I am sure I will be stockpiling supplies and batteries because if I run out of juice or battery I will go back to analogs and I really dont want that. I am still investigating, researching, and fighting off brain cramps to find out what the best options are.

Hi Tank girl, sure I would love to pm eachother and compare notes. The only thing is Iam in Canada and going to go threw a Canadian supplier. But Iam sure we could be eachother coach and an e-cig friend lol

I haven't tried them yet, but there are Canadian flavours at vapables and at juicyclear - both in Canada.
