Hello Everyone,
I purchased "SmokeTip" a few days ago, after reading everything I could find on the available brands, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The vapor production is excellent and the taste is very good! (...and for anyone interested, the customer service is the best I've ever experienced!)
I've been smoking cigarettes for 30 years, and the idea of giving up tobacco "for real" is downright scary! I'm still lighting up at least 5 or 6 cigarettes a day, even though I really don't need to (physically) with the e-cig. Mentally, I guess I haven't completely let go of being a cigarette smoker, but I'm working on it. Any tips on how to completely let go of the "corner of the pack" and go 100% vape?
Thanks,
Mark

A good start is to have something with strong enough liquid (mg/ml of nicotine). I had a 16 mg/ml at first, needed to go up to a 24 mg strength. The higher strength liquid was absolutely needed to get an extra "kick" at trigger points -- first wake-up, when I first drive during the day, etc.

Make smoking slightly more of a hassle. I left my cigarettes in my car. so it was easier to vape than smoke.

Recognize you may need to vape more frequently, though likely for a shorter period of time, than smoking. Cigarettes have something called MAOIs, which lengthen the time the nicotine has an effect on the brain. End result is you have to vape more often to keep a given level of the feel-good. I vaped every half hour or so, compared to a cigarette every hour, during work. (Now I use what's called a passthrough [PT] both at work and in the car, normally loaded with low mg nic liquid])

Don't sweat things taking time. Pat yourself on the back for cutting by a large amount already.

I quickly cut to about 5 a day, too, then 3 -- took another week, plus the higher strength liquid, to completely quit.

Drink lots of extra fluids, plain water or something else. vaping tends to dry you out.

Good luck!

i've also been smoking for thirty years, tried to quit many times,i started with the 510 e cig 7 days ago and i havent picked up a real cig yet. and i dont want to. but i find im useing the device all the time,im sueing up the battery life before the next battery is off the charger,..its like when you decide to buy a Harley motorcycle, you dont buy a Sporster, you go for the ''Road king'' or the ''Heritage'' ..because thats what you will end up with, bigger and more power....what i mean is i should have bought a more powerfull Ecig than the 510 .. now im waitng for one in the mail.. happy vaping..

i wasn't a smoker for quite as long, but it took me a long time to wien myself off the analogs totally (about 3 months). what really helped me a lot was always having a variety of flavors of juice to choose from so i didn't feel like i was stuck with whatever i could fit in my pocket. also i gave myself realistic goals. the first week vaping i said to myself that i would only allow myself 15 analogs a day, the the next week it wet down to 10, where i stayed for 3 weeks, when i was ready i went down to 5 and then 3, 2, 1 and i finally gave analogs up altogether. variety is what kept me from getting bored, so i always have 2 or 3 of my favorite flavors handy, even if they r only in little 3 mil bottles.

also a higher nic level may b necessary in the beginning. i know i started at 18 mg and that wasn't cutting it so i went up to 48mg and am now dropping down to 24 (over the last few months)

and also don't feel bad if u "fall off the wagon" this is a major lifestyle change, it will take time to fully replace analogs with vaping, go at your own pace. good luck.
this community rocks so if u ever need support just remember that we all have been in very similar positions as u r and we r all here to help.

You're right, it IS a major lifestyle change, and I have to remember that so I don't minimize the effort involved. I'll keep at it! Congrats on giving up the analogs!

But with every thing you have to do to keep vapeing it should take your mind off of wanting that cig.:toast:
