Ok, bought a Joye510. Not really too impressed. My biggest problem is "throat hit". There is NO throat hit. I have to exhale to even know if it was working and actually see the vapor. That is a BIG problem for me not having the feeling of the vapor hitting my throat (I am an 15 year ex Newport smoker). I'm thinking it may be the juice im using, ECOpure menthol 0mg nicotine (not the best reviews I have found). I bought the 0mg because I have not been smoking for a few weeks, cold turkey. Does the nicotine level in juice have a big effect on throat hit? If so, I may have to try the nicotine juice... OR! Does anyone know of a juice with a serious kick with 0 nicotine?

And just one more quick question, I have read that the attys need a little break in time till they show their true potential. Mine has been performing worse and worse since I got it 3 days ago.

YES omg YES it makes all the difference.

Nhaler has a good high voltage juice that gives a decent hit with only 12mg and its in tons of kick ... flavors.

Personally I jack up the nic to 24 by adding 2/3 High Voltage juice + 1/3 48mg nic concentrate from them. Huge vapor clowds, hits consistantly and gives a super nice throat hit.

I too am an ex nuport smoker and the blend that i think you would like a lot would either be the 555 menthol high voltage + 48mg nic concentrate to get 24mg nic overall. You can also do this with the NUport high voltage flavor. The nuport flavor is a bit more "mentholy" than an actual nuport is so be warned. It has grown on me now though. A regular nuport will actually be gross to you after vaping this for a week.

I have a 510, and I direct drip on the atty. For me its the only way to fly.

Oh and about your atty....

Sometimes you just got a bad one. One of my two was completely dead :(

Other than that, make sure you blow all the primer liquid that the atty ships with. Its nasty (wont hurt you) but nasty. Also after I blow all the liquid out (by blowing as hard as I can through the batter end), is do a dry burn till the atty lights up red hot, do that twice, let it cool.

If you are using carts, try dripping directly on the atomizer, the carts might be your problem. Also, there are a few different 'cart mods' people recommend to increase the performance of the stock carts for people having problems with them.

When dripping, poor atty production could be due to over filling the atty, however with carts I dont think this is the case, its probably just the cart.

Lastly, make sure you are drawing the pv properly. Its a bit different than hitting a cigarette and it took me over 4 days to get it down pat, and I was one of the people that thought they were gonna know what they were doing right away.

My way of drawing is like so: Insert tip of cart all the way into mouth, draw strong and slowly from my lungs. I also put my tongue between the tip of the cart and my throat so the "burn" from the nic abosrbs all around my tongue instead of burning into the back of my throat. (dont worry this doesn't acutally take away from the throat hit, but does make bigger hits bearable.)

I also like the tongue thing i just figured out because of how much nic i'm absorbing through it, I actually feel much more "satisfied" after a few vap sessions because I can feel my tongue tingle long after I stop. Kind of like how my lips would feel after smoking an analog :)

In general, I have found EcoPure to be great for vapor, but not so good for throat hit. In my experience, the PG based juice does better in the throat hit department. The best VG based I have found is from Vermont Vapor.

Also, some like the reduced PG juice from Johnson Creek. Seems their juice is love it or hate it for most folks, but they do have a pretty good return policy so if you try it and don't like it you can get your money back.

Try the high voltage juice from Nhaler.com. I am vaping some right now with a 510 and getting great taste, throat hit and clouds of vapor. Not really a menthol fan myself, but heard that the Nuport flavor is very good. Nhaler also has a 555 menthol and a new Super Menthol flavor. I would highly recommend trying the HV 12mg first before ramping all the way to 24 mgs. You may find you don't need all that much nicotine and can then vape twice as often :) You can get small sample bottles to taste before laying out more cash for the 30 ML bottles.

Good luck!
