So I got my first real e-cig yesterday, a Kangertech EVOD 2. If I hold the button down for too long, it makes this loud "popping" noise like the fluid started to boil and a bubble popped. It scares the hell out of me, and it often releases a huge blast of vapour that makes me cough.

I've googled it, and the general information I've found is that "it's supposed to do that". But I don't like it. I'm started to get a kind of mini-PTSD, where I'm afraid to use my e-cig - You know how if you keep getting electrical shocks from touching your car door, you start to get afraid of touching your car door? It's getting to be like that with my e-cig - those pops really make me jump, especially because they affect the amount of vapour that I get. The only trick I've found is to kindof pulse-width-modulate my button presses - instead of holding the button down, I press it on and off, effectively lowering the temperature of the atomizer.

I didn't fill it up myself or anything, the guy at DashVapes did it for me. Is it a cleaning issue, or is it just something I have to put up with cause I bought a cheap vaper, or what?

That "pop" is just a nice new coil popping a bit of the liquid. Not a thing to be concerned about at all.

It means your equipment is working properly !

Personally, I love the "pop" !

...and it will quit after a bit once the coil starts getting gunked up a bit.

The only tank that really "pops" at me anymore is my Aerotank mega. Sure enough when it pops hard, it does blast vapor at me, but to me it's rather like getting an extra little burst of flavor. Except when it really "POPS" and it takes me by surprise and it pushes enough extra vapor into my lungs that it makes me cough.

It didn't take me long though before I started to appreciate the snap crackle pop of a coil working properly, now I kind of use it as my own personal timer. I start to vape and once I hear the snap crackle pop, I stop vaping and exhale.

Sometimes you just get a coil that pops a bit. I don't use stock coils anymore, but as I recall this will sometimes go away as they get broken in. Sometimes it doesn't go away. Either way, it's nothing to worry about.

I'm not a fan of the pop. I like the snap and crackle, but the pop just irritates me. Back when I was using stock coils (protank), if I got one that popped I'd toss it aside to rebuild later.

I find Kanger coils can do this when you first start vaping after they've been left sitting a few hours. If that's the case, try a dry puff first (sucking without firing the button), and only then puff with the button. Also I make the first few puffs short and shallow. This should prime the coil again, and you should be fine to go. Also once you've got it going, long and slow puffs are usually better than trying to hit it hard and fast.

A little snap and crackle is good, but if it is popping violently on an ongoing basis, something is wrong - likely not enough juice is getting though. Try reducing voltage or adjusting airflow if you can. Still got problems, try changing the coil or go back to the dealer that set it up for you.

I have had that popping too...doesn't bother me that much, but what does bother me is when it spits juice up...and yes I clean the center thingy (technical term here lol) out with a q tip after I fill. I don't like getting the juice on my lips or in my mouth...that really bugs me. I don't quite understand why that happens. So when it does...I tear it apart again and clean the center out again...and hope for best. Usually happens with my kanger mini protank 3. And I have realized that different juices and voltage on adjustable battery has a lot to do with it.
