Hello everyone. I have recently began to experiment with E cigs. I love the idea and concept, and love being able to "smoke" without the cancer, smell, taste, etc. I have bought 3 disposable e cigs so far. I like em, but I dont like how long they last, especially not for the price. Im looking to invest in a kit. I need to know what most people think is a good brand and value. Im looking to order in the next few weeks so your feedback is very much appreciated. Im not made of money either, im looking to spend around 60 bucks on a starter kit. But im not too sure how it all works. So, any advice is wanted. Im all ears.

Whooo the advice you are going to get. From spinners to twists to you name it.
I like suggesting actually starting with a cig look a like kit. You will wind up spending more money and eventually move to the others but there are reasons I suggest this:
Look and feel very similar to smoking. The feel in the hand. The movement to the mouth. All very similar to actually smoking. For me, it was huge in the mental switch to vaping. Once I got passed the mental part of it, I was able to move to variable voltage and such. I ordered my first kit from V2. I would recommend them to anybody to get started.

I can understand wanting a cigalike, not knowing much about electronic cigarettes. I was at that point too when I started. They will be adequate to get you to quit smoking, but I can almost guarantee that within 2 months you'll want something more powerful, longer lasting, and with more options to put on your battery than a cartomizer.

You already said you didn't like how long the disposables lasted. You'll have the same frustration with any cigarette-sized battery. You can't expect a battery that small to give great performance.

You've already stated that you have limitations on the money to put on a kit. Are you willing to put that money on a cigalike kit that you'll only use for 2 months? Then have to put at least that much down for a mid-level setup again?

Just trying to save you some money from the get go. The cigalike batteries only last 3-4 hours between charges. That means how many batteries will you need to carry to last you till you can get home to recharge them? Because they are so slim, the only juice carriers that will fit are cartomizers. Nothing wrong with those, I use them in my tanks, but going just one step bigger in batteries quadruples your choices.

Below is part of the Smokeless Image product line to show size comparisons between a cigarette, the two sizes of mini-batteries, and the larger ego-equivalents X2 batteries. The X2 batteries will last 6.5 hours, 9 hours, and 13 hours depending on the length chosen.

If after explaining this to you and you still want the cigarette size batteries, the Smokeless Image is still the company to check out. At least if you get your starter kit from them, you can still advance up to the larger batteries when the time comes, as all of their gear is intercompatible with each other:

I just ordered a Volt from Smokeless Image; it was very highly rated and had great reviews, plus it is similar to a real cig in size AND you can order it with any color you want, with nifty colored LEDs, if you so desire. The starter kit with 1 battery was $29; it came to $27 (shipping included) during the Valentine's Day sale. I also suggest checking out the coupons here before buying anything, as many vendors offer special promotional codes which allow you to save quite a bit of money when ordering.

Checked out V2. There starter kit with 2 batteries is 75 with shipping. Not too bad.

I started out using disposable blu cigs and it was nice for about a week or two but that was it. Someone recommended me getting this C.C.V EGO 3.5ml 1.7 ohm Single Coil Tank Starter Kit (Resurrector) and i wish i had started out with it. just my 2 cents from my experience.

* Disclaimer: I provide the vendor's link only as a suggested retailer. A potential buyer can choose who and where to purchase their items wherever they wish. I have no affiliation with the suggested vendor, however they are a popular and reputable e-cig business used by many ECF members.

Hi and welcome!

 +1 for Baditude's advice. Also, please tell us about your lifestyle, that is important for making e-cig device suggestions. For example, a nurse who works long hours and can only run outside for a cigarette has different needs than a trucker out on the road.

Im glad you asked that. Im not really a smoker. Well, im solely a social smoker. Meaning only when im at the bar getting some drinks. Im just looking for an e cig I can have with me when im at the bar or in a friends house drinking. I dont really buy packs of actual cigarettes. I might pitch in on a pack with my buddy to share with 4 other people while we drink a few packs of beers. I want an e cig because its safer and can be used indoors.

My appologies for jumping the gun. Ocelot was wise in asking the important question that I did not. Having seen your explanation above, I will concur a cigalike battery, such as the Smokeless Image Volts would be an excellent choice for you.

Sorry for my enthusiasm to talk you into something that you likely didn't need. Your response to your needs changes everything.

Thank you for sharing that with us! It makes quite a difference. It sounds like you will be happy with a "cig-a-like." I have one that I take with me when I go out - but at home I would have to swallow the cartridges before they would come close to addressing my cravings.

I'm not sure about the Volt, but some of the cig-a-likes can be used with a "PCC" a personal charging case. It's like a remote battery charger. The Joyetech eRoll is another popular cigarette-sized battery, which I know uses a PCC.

How many of you have tried the Volt cigs? They are about 30 bucks cheaper than the V2 (they only come with 1 battery tho).
I started vaping, and quit smoking, with a Volt starter kit (2 batteries), two extra batteries, and a 1300 mah Volt X2 battery (for home use). I started with the pre-filled cartridges (hated them), but also had bought the blank cartos and bottle of e-liquid and filled those by myself (much better). I was a Marlboro Menthol smoker, so I got the Ice Menthol liquid; didn't taste exactly like a Marlboro Menthol, but it was close enough so that I could quit.

Those batteries are only 90 mah. They won't last an hour. Especially how most people chain smoke when the are drinking. Just pointing that out. The Smokeless Image Volts are 3 time the mah of that.

I was thinking of the PCC. Can the Volt use one?

ETA: I'm not sure about the eRoll suggestion now. I didn't realize you can't put other devices on them.
