This is the kit I used to recommend to newbies.

http://www.vapor4life.com/classic-vk-ultimate-ultimatum-starter-kit

Way back this price wasn't bad but its kinda high now but still not horrible considering what is included. You get basically everything you need, just might want some extra juice up front and perhaps a spare manual battery later on. Others can chime in.

Edit: $99 isn't really that bad after checking out other devices and pricing with a PCC.

Vaporkings sells a KR808D-1 kit by Kangar that is like $45 but doesn't come with a PCC, pass through, etc.

Yea, I def. dont want one of those large advanced and scary looking vaporizers. I want just something that looks like a real cig.

The Joye eRoll would be perfect for your purposes. It's the closest thing you can get to simulating smoking aside from the disposable NJOY King which is quite expensive. It's also dead easy to use and maintain.

The small battery resides, fully assembled, in the PCC case. Other cig-alikes require that the juice cartomizer or clearomizer be removed before charging which I found to be a royal pain in the patootie. With the eRoll you take however many puffs you like and pop the cig-alike battery back in the case. The next time you want to take a few puffs it will be fully charged or close to it. The means you aren't getting weak vapes from a weak battery.

The small 1,000 mAh PCC case (4 1/4" x 1 7/8") is attractive, resembling an iPhone, so it fits in with nearly any social setting. Generally, one figures 1 hour of average vaping per 100 mAh so you have plenty of vape time when out and about. The cig-alike battery is small (3 11/16" x 5/16"), lightweight and discrete.

The 90 mAh size of the battery isn't at all important unless you chain vape like a fiend. The battery charges very quickly between puffing sessions. If you find the one battery not keeping up with you just bring along an extra battery and alternate putting them in the PCC.

A goodly percentage of cig-alikes end up unused in a drawer when vapers move on to more powerful gear. However, as you can read for yourself in the eRoll thread, many experienced vapors are finding a place for the eRoll in their gear repertoire as well as newbies.

I bought my eRoll for out and about but have been surprised at both the quality of the vape and how often I use it at home in favor of my more powerful devices. I've gifted three eRolls to two vapers with Twists and one to a new vaper. They have been a big hit with all recipients. The new vaper was able to immediately, painlessly and happily give up smoking.

These reviews cover how the eRoll works.
eMini E-Cigarette Review (aka eRoll)
Joyetech eRoll Review. This little eCig is AWESOME!

The cheapest prices on eRolls has been at Exhale Vapors. Use February10 for 10% off. You will also need a blunt needle-tipped bottle or an Innokin U-Can for your juice.

when i decided to go to ecigs i really couldn't understand how to operate the ecigs with the atomizers
i read drdavoom's article on the two piece ecigs which just have a battery and a cartomizer
after trial and error with some bad two piece ecigs i found the vapor4life batteries in XL models to be perfect
they have longer life than the standard size batteries
the wow cartomizers for the xl batteries are of high quality and i was totally satisfied.
hope this helps

Ok, so im guessing the higher the mAh, the longer it will last? Wat do u guys recommend for a good 5 hour drinking session? And yes, you do chain smoke when ur buzzed as someone stated.
That would be me. :p

The mAh rating means mili amps per hour, technically. In layman terms, it gives an approximation of the average time a battery will be useful to power a device.

100 mAh is equal to 1 hour battery use. So a 900 mAh battery can be expected to last 9 hours ( just knock off the last two digits for the hours). A 90 mAh battery, like the eRoll will last less than an hour.

I guess if you don't mind putting your eRoll back into the charging unit after every few puffs, that system could work. For me, I might just forget to put it back into the charger and before long the battery is dead.

If it was me in your situation, I'd go with a single Volt X2 900 mAh battery for 9 hours useful battery time Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | X2 Battery & Battery Accessories.

Size of a cigar. $19 and comes with the charge cord that uses a USB computer port to charge. If you want even more versatility, get the USB/wall adaptor to be able to vape as a passthru without draining the battery or to be able to charge it away from a computer Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette. X2 & clearomizer.jpg Volt X2 900 mAh battery and a clearomizer X2-clearo.jpg

For the juice carrying device to put on the battery, I'd get a couple of the clearomizers. $6.50 each. They are easy to fill from a bottle of e-juice. One of those filled with your e-liquid should last a good evening of drinking. You need a backup, so get two. Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

On the deck grilling with friends and a cold one in hand I use a rig I can put in my tee shirt pocket and I'm good to go for about 6 hours easy. I keep a spare charged up 18350 battery close just in case.

This is a Joyetech 18350 mod with a Vivi Nova

Another alternative would be the ridiculously inexpensive $16 Smoktech Gripper mod. SMOKtech 18350 GRIPPER Mechanical - Black Rubberized [gv-SMOKGripper18350-BLACK] - $15.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

Uses any XL length cartomizer easily found anywhere: GotVapes STALLION Hybrid : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

It uses a 18350 battery for 7 hours use, $7.60: Batteries : AW IMR 18350 3.7V 700mAh

You would need the following charger for the battery: $11.00: Battery Chargers : Xtar MP1S

You'd want a drip tip mouthpiece to use, too, your choice: http://www.rtdvapor.com/online-store/drip-tips
