New to ECF - Saying Hello!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself, since I'm obviously new to ECF, although I've been "lurking" here for a good while. :)

I'm not new to vaping though, having been an e-cig user for 2 years now. I didn't give up my analogs entirely until January 15, of this year though. I'd give them up for a week or 2, only to go back as soon as I was stressed. 44 days ago though? I finally found the e-juice that was just right for me (I'm sensitive to heavy, waxy flavors and perfumy juices, and don't enjoy a warmer vape. And I also don't like tobacco flavors. I hear I'm too picky!), and I was able to stop smoking analogs, and haven't even been tempted since.

Funny thing is, that in December of 2012, my Mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 inoperable Lung Cancer - but I just couldn't manage to step away from the analogs. I tried, but like I mentioned above, I just could not find an e-juice that I could stand for long. It killed me to keep smoking, but I couldn't afford to keep buying e-juice that I couldn't use.

So, now I've managed to find a plethora of awesome Minty e-juices (thanks to reading the forums here!), and even the thought of picking up an analog makes me feel a bit queasy.

I was already quite happy with finally being able to quit the analogs, but this past Monday, my Father was diagnosed with Colon Cancer (not sure what Stage just yet, but he has a large tumor that is effectively blocking his Colon almost entirely), and even that didn't make me think of picking up an analog (stress has always been my downfall with analogs). And, of course, that cemented my decision to never, ever, pick up an analog again.

I'm thrilled to be analog free, and vaping is the only way I have been able to quit for more than a day (Save for when I was pregnant, and even then I was smoking after my kids were born). Trust me, I've tried so many times and tried so many different things. I thought that I would never be able to quit those darned analogs.

Thankfully I had my 1000mah Ego batt and several iClear 16 clearos, so once I found the right e-juice, I stopped analogs immediately. A few days later I broke old my old Lavatube and a Vivi Nova tank, and was pretty darn happy. However, a friend had an iTaste VTR, and I fell in love. So now I'm using a silver VTR with either a Unitank or a 6ml DCT.

I know this post a bit disjointed, but I am simply AWFUL at this whole introduction spiel! Hoping to make a few friends here!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your quit! I pray that your dad will be okay. Even IF he has to have surgery, quality of life is still good with ostomies.

Thanks! He's having surgery next Thursday. Hoping that they can do a resection, but my take is that even if they have to do a Colostomy, better to be alive, right?

Thanks for keeping him in your prayers! Much appreciated! :)

You're at the begining of an amazing journey! As you hone your tastes, and gain experience, you'll find there's a whole lot of fun to be had beyond simply quitting cigs. Best of luck!

Thanks! I'm having a blast so far. My wallet is in the corner rocking back and forth, whimpering, but it's a lot of fun! Vaping is fast turning into an awesome hobby. Hoping to learn to wrap my own coils within the next few weeks. A bit intimidating, but I love a challenge. :)

Welcome aboard KimShady!!! So sorry about what you have gone through with your Mother and now your Father as well. Don't feel bad about falling off the bandwagon in times of stress. I've done it. Nice thing is, it's not permanant because I always go right back to vaping. It's an easy switch from analogs to vaping. Eventually, the thought of an analog won't even come to mind. It's just your old stress habit biting you in the ....!!! Like I've said, I've done it. One thing I did was up my nicotine when I was stressed. I keep a bottle of one step higher nicotine around just for that. It really helped!!!

Welcome to ECF!!
Great to hear you are off the stinking cigarette curse! I am off them for 2 weeks now and enjoying my vaping. I hope you'll share your experiences with us.

:vapor:

Congratulations and thanks! I'm definitely looking forward to chatting with everyone here!

OMG, I LOVE your avatar!!!!!!!!

Nice to know I'm not the only one that has gone back and forth. This time around has been so much easier though - it's almost too easy. I was pretty amazed that I didn't have a craving at all while meeting with my dad's doctor the other day!
Great idea about the higher strength! I actually just dropped down to 18mg, but I have a few bottles of 24mg stashed away. I had thought of passing them onto someone who would use them, but now I think I'll hold onto them just in case!

Just hang in there!! It's hard to break a long mental habit and from what you have written, I think you're doing great!!! I forget what they used to say about each cigarette taking time off your life. But that said, each cigarette not smoked should add time on or lives. I have kids as you do and I sure do want to be around for them as long as I can!!! Take care. I'll say a prayer tonight for you, your father and his family.

Isn't it something like 2 minutes? I think that's it! Either way, you're right. One of the things that makes me so happy that I quit analogs is my kids. My oldest is beyond thrilled, and my youngest, even though he doesn't understand much of it, other than cigarettes are bad and stinky, tells me that my "vapey" is so much better. Makes me smile!

Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. I really appreciate that. It's been a bad year for my family and the dreaded C word - we could use all the prayers we can get!!! :)

Hi KimShady, and welcome. It's good to hear from yet another person who has left cigarettes behind in favor of vaping. I'm new here, too, and I've been stink-stick-free for 46 days now. Like others have said, ECF is a great place for vaping info and camaraderie with vapers from all over the world. This is the go-to place on the internet for vaping.

I'm sorry that your parents have had to endure such daunting struggles. I'm sending my best wishes for a full recovery for both of them.

Now that's adorable! :)

Thanks, CKCalmer! I'm loving ECF! Been a lurker for awhile (would never have found my fave e liquids without it!), but decided that it would be much more fun to be social!

It's been a tough time for my parents, that's for sure. Tough on all of us really, but as hard as it is for me, I cannot even begin to imagine what they're going through. Thanks so much for the good wishes. We need them!

Haha! Yeah the "vapey" thing is too cute. I actually call my VTR my "vapey" most of the time, even though people look at me funny!

hi KimShady, welcome, I am new around here myself but everyone seems really friendly so far. Congrats on chucking the analogs!

Hiya and thanks! Welcome to you also! I am loving ECF! Everyone has been friendly and the information here is just...wow! I used to lurk on here alot. Would never have found all my fave e juices without ECF!
