Hello everybody,

Wanted to introduce myself and thank all the helpful people that read and post in this forum. I've been reading and learning from this site for quite some time now without registering as all my questions have been answered before even asking a question.

I smoked for about 30 years, started when I was 12 and cigarettes were .59cents a pack. I never felt the need to quit smoking until I was forced to due to increasing costs.

I've been vaping for about 3 years, satisfied with basic ego batteries and cartomizers. I'm not very interested in the huge tube mods that are cumbersome and make you look like a security guard walking around with a flashlight or baton (not to mention the price tag of some of these phallic devices) but would like the higher, adjustable power and longer lasting features of them so I decided to try my hand at building a couple stealthy box mods. I do have a little bit of electronics background from my few years in the Army but that was 20 yrs ago so I will try to help others when i can with some of the simple stuff.

I plan on starting out with a simple 3.7v box mod just to re-familiarize myself with soldering and get a feel for the basics again. In time getting a little more complex with 5v mods and adjustable voltage, built in charging circuits and moldable plastics for new enclosure designs, maybe experimenting with different battery types.

As I wrote this the mailman delivered my first order of parts from Madvapes so here I go.

Finished my first test project. "NicoStick" Its pretty simple, no frills. I put it in a clear AA box just for the novelty and I read that the clear boxes were harder to work with and cracked easier so i wanted to see how that was. I had an old Riva battery that was worn out after about 2 years of use and found that the button hole in the connector is perfect for a 5mm led. it also fit nicely in the battery box and the led keeps it from spinning. Its quite secure without any epoxy or glue. After a couple days of use I do plan on filling every gap i can with hot glue.
2 AA clear box - $1.49
horn style switch - .89c
5mm blue led & resistor - .59c
Ego style "Riva" battery connector - free
2 trustfire 14500 900mah batts $5.34
-------
total $8.31

I've found that i really dont like the horn style switch, too big and requires too much pressure to activate so now I'll have to wait for more parts before I can start another one. :(

Any time you want to get away from that TrustFire... consider AW IMR cells ;)

i just bought them for the price, once i build or buy something i plan on using regularly i will buy better batteries.

you wont like my next one either... it will have ultrafire 17500's in it (again just went the cheap route while experimenting)
