Hey guys,

My vaping experience so far:

I was at a family gathering, this guy whips out what I thought was a cigarette and starts smoking in the living room. I was shocked to find out it was an electronic cigarette. Cool. I tried it and immediately ripped the patch off my arm. It was an xhale02 from 7 eleven. After using it with some success, after 2 weeks and 10 new cartidges, the atty died, bummer.

During this time I was learning from this forum everything I have come to know, and purchased a 510 from awesomevapor (a friend had gone through them before and said they were trustworthy, which they were!) And I have been really really enjoying my 510. I have had it a little over a week, and 1 atty died.. I think I was dripping too much of the juice on it.. Btw, Ive been using Camel from awesomevapor, and though its the only juice I have tried, holy crap does it taste good compared to that 7 eleven crap.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hi, and thanks for all the valuable information. I just ordered 20 sampler bottles of different juices, super excited about that.
One question though, why are cartomizers so much cheaper than atomizers? I orders some blank ones which I will fill, but, couldnt I refill? It seems like Im getting attys, and cartidges for really cheap, and no drawback?

Thanks guys.

Welcome! And yea, that 7-11 crap does suck.lol Glad your happy w/ your 510. Yea, the cartos are good. They are not designed to last as long as attys, but at the price, who cares. The only drawback(that I see) is it is difficult to change flavors, but there are various methods of cleaning them out(haven't cleaned any myself yet).

Gratz on making the switch. It's going to come down to preference. I drip and only use 3 different attys to reduce cleaning. One for borrowed flavors, one for sweet flavors and one for chocolate or coffee styled flavors. My buddy swears by cartos and has a case with an elastic band that hold 15 different flavors ready to go, plus some blanks. Do a little of both and you'll find out where you wanna be. Besides initial outlay of funds, it'll even out price wise over time.

I actually thought the xhale02 wasn't all that bad, but the juice was terrible! I got one over a month ago when I was out of attys for my prodigy v3 so I needed a backup. I tried the prefilled carts and they sucked! But when dripping with my own e-liquid, I thought it was a decent backup device.

Hey Dob, I'm pretty much using cartomizers exclusively nowadays. I started with the M-401 (lasted 2 days) and went to 901 for about a month and then mods with 901 attys then mods with 510 attys then a Riva now I use the Riva and an assortment of mods with both the 510 and kr808 cartos. I like them better because they hold about 3 times as much juice. A box of 5 costs about as much as one atty but they don't last as long. they don't burn out but after 6 or 7 refills they get kinda funky tasting. 6 or 7 refills takes me through about a day and a half. I guess they cosy more than arrts in the long run but the convenience is worth it to me. They only cost about $.60 a piece so compared to the $12.50 in cigs I'd burn up in a day and a half, they're a bargain.

Dripping too much juice should not in any way contribute to atomizer death.
Maybe it just needs to be cleaned?

Check out this thread for more information...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ion/97014-facts-about-cleaning-atomizers.html

There is a link in that thread about how to revive a dead atomizer.
Make sure you try it before you throw the atomizer away.
:)

Or maybe you just have a flooded atomizer?
Although if you've been doing it for over a week, that seems unlikely.

Yeah, it isnt bad with your own juice, I agree. Im using the second one I bought right now, it produces what I would consider good amounts of vapor, but theres an odd taste to it overall. The 510 tastes clean, while the xhale does not.

I have been just dry burning the atty to remove anything on it, I saw it on a video somewhere, it actually worked, both atomizers are performing well now. I think I may try to build/rebuild one of the atomizers once it totally stops working, I was checking out those threads. There has to be a way to improve the design through materials or something. I have a background in electronics so, hopefully I have a shot!

Outstanding!

We can never have too many people with knowledge and experience working on various ideas, methods, improvements, and mods. Make sure to check out some of the subforums around here where the uber-geeks hang out and talk shop.

Welcome to all the noobs. Keep your atty's clean, or at least turn them upside down on a paper towel (battery connector up) to drain overnight. Use rubbing alcohol to clean, blow out (battery connector to your mouth into a paper towel), then let dry completely. Juice builds up and will eventually kill your atty. I've just recently had my original atty go to atty heaven. It was a trooper and been through tons of flavors. I sure miss the little guy. Point is, keeping it clean will extend its life.
