Greetings everyone! I thought I'd just drop a quick note:

First things first... Thanks! This forum is amazing.

I've been an analog smoker for about 18 years and I'm tired of it (as is my wallet). I've tried to quit more times that I can count and (obviously) all have failed. I believe the failures are due to trying to quit the thousands of chemicals and the nicotine at the same time.

Anyway... long story short, I started googling information on ecigs, which eventually led me here.... and here is where I'll stay. As everyone here knows, the amount of information/options/etc. on ecigs can be quite overwhelming... but this forum does a fantastic job of compiling it in one place. (and what appears to be a great community to boot!)

Keep up the excellent work everyone!!! Thank you all for the vast amount of information contained here!

Welcome xirix. What did you decide as your first kit? I'll warn you the wallet get bruised when you first start up because of the cost of a kit and the juices but it will soon recover and be better off when compared to the cost of analogs and your health.

I'm actually debating between eGo-T type B and the KR808D1... decisions decisions

I can't speak from experience on the ego-t type B but I can on the KR808d1. I started on the 808d-1 and still use it. I just got an echo which has the 808 threads so all my cartos can be used on the echo. I did get 1 extra battery for my KR808d-1 more for having a different flavored carto attached rather than battery life. The vapor production on the 808 is good and it's a great starter. It's a tough decision but I went with the 808 because I wanted the ease of a carto. Now you can get decent cartos in both 510 and 808.

Welcome!! Good choices. If you are like most people then eventually you will own both

Be sure to get eliquid with whatever you choose. And if you get the KR8 I highly recommend manual batteries. Most people here use and recommend manual batteries. Especially with refilling cartos - no matter how careful you are occasionally you'll get a bit of leaked juice and it is a lot easier to damage an auto battery with leaked juice. Also autos can accidentally turn on in wind or vibration.

Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new myself but there is a wealth of info and good advice here. Some folks prefer cartos, others Low Resistance atomizers and dripping, ( I like both!) but there are a ton of options in both hardware and liquids. The fun is trying different juices and systems. You have plenty of veterans here with great advice, they've sure saved me a ton of money.

Do yourself a favor and take full advantage of the search feature in the upper right hand section of any page. If you have a question about something, 99.986532% of the times it has been asked, and answered, many time before.

Wish I had known about this forum Before I bout my first 3 "kits".

Hey -xirix-, Welcome (again) to ECF!! I can't speak about the Ego-T (I'm sure there are many, many others here who can, tho) but I did start with the KR808D-1 and still use them exclusively. I like the feel of them, and the XL batteries (380 mAh) last noticeably longer than the regulars (280 mAh).

My DH has the Go Go (1300 mAh), which is fairly new but has not only a decent starter kit price, it also comes with two batteries in the kit. Some of the big battery PV's have only one. It's a manual battery with a sealed top, so not much worry about juice leakage which can kill auto batteries if you're not careful. It is a major vapor producer, and it also has an adapter that you can get that allows you to use the bigger cartos on a KR808D-1 if you want. Their cartos are exclusive to the Go Go, but they hold 3 ml of e-juice, so they last almost as long as the batteries do.

And I just discovered that they also now have a "Mini Go Go" Cartomizer that is threaded for the KR808D-1. I think it holds 1 ml of e-liquid, AND you can get the adapter to use them on the Go Go as well, in case you want to test flavors. It's kind of hard to fill a carto with 3 ml of e-liquid, only to find out you don't really like it. Then you have to clean it out, and while that's not hard to do, it takes a little time. It's best to clean a batch of them instead of one at a time.

But the KR808D-1 is a good starter e-cig and you can get prefilled carts and e-juice to refill them in the same flavors. I now have 4 XL and two regular 808D-1 batteries, and I keep two going all the time with different flavors. Works great. You've probably already done a lot of research on these, and I know how overwhelming all the info can be at first. But I think you're heading down the right path with the KR808D-1 AND with vaping.

Welcome, and please let us know what you end up getting and how you're doing with it. As you've already found, this is an awesome place for support, as we've all been right there where you are now.

Welcome xirix to the funny farm...oooopppsss....I mean ECF. I would consider the kr808 over the ego t. A bunch of people say, as well as myself, that the flavor of your juices are muted with the tank system. Plus they are more of a pain to clean. The kr is easier and provides great vapor production and flavor (good TH also). Welcome aboard and happy vaping.

If you go with the ego T you might purchase some cartomizers for it also some people have problems with the tanks or just don't like them. I have a regular ego and love it. I hear good things about the 808 and the echo.

Thanks for all the "welcomes"! I decided to order the 808 kit from V4L last night and some extra menthol juice. I've smoked camel menthol for the past 15 years, and as usual to a noob vaper, want to start on a similar tasting juice. My next juice purchase will probably be from here, I've read some decent things about them.

I know I'll be sampling like mad until I find a juice I like... but that's part of the fun!

My kit and juice shipped this morning... so I should have it by tomorrow or Monday. /tangent: That's my only issue with buying online... the wait. I know it's a small price to pay for not having to drive all over the country/world to purchase things you want... I'm just impatient when I buy stuff. I want it now!!! /tangentoff

Anyhoo... I'll post my experience once everything arrives and my analogs are in the trash! I'll use my expansive (lol) vaping knowledge for the powers of good!

Damn... looking at my kit again and I realized I think I bought the wrong one LOL. I don't think it comes with a PCC like this one does... just a carrying case.

Oh well... only a $10 blunder. At least with a PCC and carrying case, I can carry more on me I suppose lol.

This is true -x-, it can't hurt to have both the carrying case and the PCC...I've found that with my XL's from V4L I only have to carry two of them for all day, so I don't need the PCC really and besides my XL's don't fit in it anyway, just my regular 808's. You'll find your perfect, get you through the day quantity or amount to carry with you. I'm so excited for you, and can hardly wait until you get them. (I know, I really need to get out more! )

Please do let us know your experiences, and once you've got a little under your belt you'll be able to come in here and help others too. It's so nice to have this forum, and I'm so glad you found us! So, smoke 'em while you have no other alternative, and you'll see the difference in how you feel in just a few short weeks. But remember, the e-cigs are a "smoking alternative" not a "smoking cessation" system. I've found it's easier for the unknowing to accept that when explained that way, and you may find you get less flak from non-believers by using that terminology. (I learned that the hard way, LOL)
