Hey everyone! My name is rich and I'm completely new to vaping. I've been using the halo g6 for a few weeks now and I'm loving it. I had my first baby on 10-16, so I'm trying to kick the habit of cigs. I've been wanting to set it up to the halo triton and maybe the variable voltage battery. I'd hate to buy a bunch of new stuff and just burn it all up by not knowing what im doing. Anything I should lookout for with the vv battery? Should I hold off on the vv battery until I get use to the triton? I've been using the mini tanks halo has for the g6, so I'm somewhat familiar with tanks, not what replacing coils or the idea of ohms though.
Thanks for any input!

Hi Rich,

Welcome to ECF and good luck on your vape journey. Most folks like to start out small and simple and as they learn they graduate to bigger and better things. The G6 is a fine place to start. Let me suggest your next step. A simple Vision Spinner and a Kanger Protank (or Vivi Nova). You can purchase replacement heads for the Protank. There is nothing to the VV battery. Just set the voltage according to your preferences. Don't be afraid to experiment. Best to you Rich!

Everyone is different. However, I'd step up to an Ego-style battery with both 510 and Ego threads. It could be a basic Ego battery, a USB passthrough, or a Variable Voltage (VV) style ("Spinner","Twist", etc). The delivery device is more important to your vaping experience than your battery. I prefer bottom-coil tanks and clearomizers like the Kanger EVOD (plastic) and Kanger Mini ProTank 2. The full-size ProTank 2 is fine, just bigger in diameter than a Mini or EVOD -- they all use the same replaceable coil/atomizer and they are available in different resistances (1.8ohm to 2.5ohm if I recall correctly). This Ego style is the next step without going to something "big" like a 18xxx form factor tube mod (Provari, SmokTech SID, etc), a box-style (Innokin MVP 2), or a full-on mechanical mod.

I'd do something like this: Kanger Evod Starter Kit

You could buy a VV battery, but I think I'd stick with the standard battery and try going to a lower resistance coil. An EVOD kit with a 1.8ohm coil is a simple, easy-to-use set up with a vape 85% as good as something more expensive and more complicated.

Just my $.02

Welcome Rich! I started with the Halo G6 as well, but quickly found that I needed something, a little more. The Triton is a fine choice, but it has funky threading that you cannot find in a lot of other devices if you find that you don't like either the Triton tanks or the batteries.

I'd definitely start with a twist style battery, either a Vision Spinner, Kanger Evod Twist, or a Smoktech Winder. Those are all good choices for a newbie and will get you far. They all have 510 and Ego threading, so You'll be able to use a lot more tanks with them. Here's a great kit to start with: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

If you need to save a little cash, right out of the gate, you can go with the Kanger Evod Starter kit as well. Just remember to get at least 2 batteries, and 2 tanks as well as some replacement atomizer heads for whichever tank you choose.

Hope this helps! Vape on!

Welcome to ECF and to Vaping. I'm new to vaping also, but after 3 weeks of using a simple starter kit, it just wasn't enough. I am used to high levels of nicotine, so I went to a local B&M to see what they had to offer. I looked at twist style VV devices and also the mods they had. The owner was vaping on a eVic VV/VW device, I got a tip cover and took a pull, it was exactly what I needed. Once you figure out what your needs are, then getting the right set up is easy too.

Don't give up on quitting smoking. I almost went back to dipping til I found the right set up. It's been about 13 days that I have had my VV/VW device and I don't want to dip snuff at all.

Oh, I got my wife a eGO-C Twist VV and gotta say, it vapes almost as awesome as my eVic.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I'm going going to stick to the g6 for a few more weeks to get use to the idea, but so far so good. I woke up at 6am and only had half a cig :vapor: so I'm off to a good start. Is the 510 threading more common than what halo uses? I think it's the 808 type but I could be wrong. There's a lot out there so it's nice to know there are people who are in to help a noob.

510 connections are the most popular by far. Stay with your G6 as long as you feel comfortable with it Rich. No need to pressure yourself into making changes until you're ready.

I agree with everything here but would also like to recommend the MVP 2.... Prices at 101vapes for this unit are outstanding and it comes with everything you need to get started for about $40.... This leaves you more money to spend on that new baby of yours!!

Never had an MVP but I have (soon to be had) an Innokin SVD and it's a piece of crap. One month old and the power is constantly cutting out. Just sticking with my Provari. Tried and true never lets me down. I'll be getting a mech instead.
