My story.... smoked for 23yrs or so, bought an ecig last monday as kinda "spurr" of the moment. My first 'puff' on it hurt, my 10th hurt. I started on a 18mg of nicotine juice. I found after all day tuesday of trying to vape instead it was hurting my lungs, felt like I smoked 2 packs back to back. I was thinking maybe the nic level was too high, so I went to the store wed, and got the next lowest level he had which was 7mg. I mix them half and half and yay I can use the darn thing. wed afternoon was my last drag off of a real cig. 6 full days now with out. only vaping.

I dont feel like I quit smoking. I feel like I am quitting smoking. I can maybe smell better? maybe my nose isnt so stuffy?

I feel like Im doing great, I havn't been .....y, well at least I dont think I have. LOL. I feel like I can do this. My goal is to slowly lover my nic level until Im vaping 0. then put it down. When I put the e cig down is that when I have "quit smoking" ?

Im curious on withdrawls, if I will have any because I am vaping. I did have a family member comment "well your still smoking then you havn't really quit.", in reference to using the e-cig to assist me. Maybe that has just got in my head now.

Kudos to you! And no, you're not smoking. You'll get a lot of "advice" and opinions from people who don't know what they're talking about; ignore it.

You may or may not have withdrawals or symptoms (sore throat, zits, stomach issues, etc.), but they are generally mild and short-lived, just a result of your body re-adjusting. Vape on, and congratulations!

Congrats bro!

Dude, this might be harsh, but unless they can relate and are/were a smoker, don't listen to what "others" tell you, even if its family. That's a rather messed up statement to say; any progress is good progress. Its all subjective and based on perspective, but ask yourself why are YOU quitting? Call me crazy, but my assumption is the reason most people quit smoking tends to be for health related reasons (duh)? Unless you overdose on nicotine (watch out with juice levels, nicotine poisoning is no joke, make sure to wash hands thoroughly after handling juice and be mindful of percentage in e-liquid), seems like you are better off in the long run vaping than smoking. And if/when you get to 0mg juice, you will be from both tobacco AND nicotine.

Btw, I find that it usually takes a couple of weeks to start feeling the positive effects from quitting cigarettes.

Your doing great and no your not smoking. I was able to comfortably quit smoking without cravings by using 24 mg nicotine e juice. It was a really easy transistion. Only time I really struggled was when I was under a lot of stress, but I did it and you can do it too! Hang in there and don't let anyone put you down! Your doing great!

I started vaping 2 days ago, I've tried smoking an analog twice, first night I started vaping I put it out after half, the next night I almost had to force myself to finish it. If you can try different methods, if you can find a storefront vape shop in your area go in and talk to them. They're very helpful for those of us looking to quit, and will let you try different devices/juices until you find what's right for you. I started out with a cheap convenience store vaporizer and after two days went to a b&m and got a much better one (Evod VV), I haven't looked back yet and don't plan to pick up another analog. I've got an almost full pack in the car and haven't even been tempted.

You will withdrawal from the naturally occurring MAOI alkaloids in tobacco. It's a very subtle and strange feeling of just being "off" for lack of a better word. It started for me after a week or so and seemed to last about three weeks. As for that "helpful" family member, ignore them. You just worry about you.

I'm vaping for two weeks now and my withdrawals so far were:

1. A lot of coughing in the first days. Now I'm ok.
2. Very dry mouth, changed a juice from 80/20 pg/vg to 50/50 for a few days and now I'm fine vaping anything.
3. Lost the sense of smell for a few days, now I'm also fine.
4. Had some mild head aches.

But now I feel a lot better than when I was smoking. And a lot more self healing to go through.
