The gauge of the needle will be determined by what you're drawing into the syringe. VG, being thicker than PG, needs a wider needle to draw fluid efficiently and quickly. Drawing PG with the same needle is certainly doable, but after taking your VG up, youll almost yank the plunger out because its so easy. Personally, I use one size needle for both.

I predominately use 3ml syringes with a 14g blunt needle. But the biggest problem I have found with these are that the lines and numbers wear off after just a couple of uses.
A piece of clear scotch tape or packing tape over the numbers will make them last longer than the syringe will last.

Do you use a Drip Tip?

Yes, I use a dripper atty when I am making juices. That way, I can taste and tweek without the hassle of cleaning out tanks.

OMG, why the heck didn't I think of that.:blink::oops:

For all things DIY there is a lot of information here. DIY ELiquid Forum. Read all the "stickies". Also check out the blogs by ECF members Hoosier & dannyv45.

dannyv45 just posted this thread a week ago. Wonderful information here: I've updated my recommended reading for people new to DYI.

I don't just buy all my flavors from one flavoring company. I primarily use Flavor Arts but there are some flavors that TFA/Inawera/Capella and others do better (and better/best is subjective depending on what you like). Start out with a few recipes you want to make, research those flavors to see who does it best and then try making a few recipes.

Here are some threads you may like to read through for different flavoring companies. Many of the posts include recipes and comments about a specific flavor.

1. Flavor Arts (FA) - Pure Vapes has 3ml FlavourArt flavorings
2. The Flavor Apprentice (TFA) - The Flavor Apprentice Flavoring Thread
3. Inawera (IW) - Inawera - a few reviews
4. Hangsen - The Hangsen Thread
5. VapingZone - New Super Concentrated Flavors & New Super Concentrated Flavors - Part 2

I started mixing my own juice almost on day one. Cost was a consideration, but purity was important as well. Just like building coils, it is best learned by doing. Others have giving great advice in this thread to date, but I will add:

Using a good online juice calculator and some 100mg base nic in 100%pg you can generally find your sweet spot with some trial and error. You may find you like something around 50/50 pg/vg or you may find that you want more or less vg. Personally I find that vg has an off putting sweet aftertaste that I like to minimize in certain flavor setups. Finally, your tastes will change and mixing your own juice will allow you to react to that.

hmm, I like the 60, 20, & 10 ml syringes, and used the needles for wrapping coils, till I got me artistic wire coiling gizmo, so now only do tension wrapped micro coils :D I usually just put a finger over the end of the syringe, and pour me liquids up to the desired level, then place it over me mixing vessel and plunge it in. Only use a needle when extracting extracts when needed. Lately will try and adjust me recipe so that am using full 8 ml bottle of flavor extracts, so usually can just pour the bottle in the mix and not have to measure :D

Course a test batch of juice for me is 100 ml, and make me house select juice batches in 400 or 500 ml quantities. The glass beakers are nice, but kind of thin walled, now use mason glass jars to mix me juice in. Usually leave it in the glass mixing vessel for a couple days, stirring it whenever am in the lab, then pour it off into storage bottles, using 50 ml squeeze bottles for everyday use.

Make sure and get a few glass rods, find them quite handy for stirring up me juices.:D

Vape long and Prosper.!!!!
