Hey there,

I've just ordered a mech mod, although I'm not really into the idea of sub-ohming. Do mech mods work well with stock coils from 1.5 - 2.2 ohms? I realized I should have looked into this a little further...

Here are the specs for the batteries I've ordered with the mod:

Features:
Manufacturer: Efest
Size: 18650
Model: Efest 18650 P35A
Type: Li-Mn (High Drain)
Rated Capacity: 2500mAh
Nominal Voltage: 3.7V
Peak Voltage: 4.2V
Cut-off Voltage: 2.5V
Dimensions: 18.2mmX65.11mm
Rechargeable: Yes
Protected: No
Chemistry: Lithium manganese Dioxide (Li-Mn02)
Style: Flat Top
Color: Purple
Rated Capacity: 2500mAh
Maximum Continuous Discharging Current: 35 A. Maximum Charge Voltage: 4.2±0.05 V

YES! Mech does not just mean sub-ohm, 1.2 > 1.7 makes a great vape. I cant recommend enough, ANYONE new to this (or not inclined) stay away from sub ohm, it's not necessary.

They certainly can work well with stock factory coils. I used 2.0 ohm single coil cartomizers in cartotanks for a few months prior to moving on to regulated mods almost exclusively. I still often use a Silver Bullet mechanical with a 1.3 ohm microcoil in a KFL+ and AGA-T2 RBA.

That's likely a nice battery for a mechanical mod, although I'm not particularly fond of the Efest brand. They have a habit of exaggerating their battery specifications. It's been said that the above battery is just a re-wrapped LG18650HE2 battery which LG and independent testers claim is just a 20 amp battery. -- Efest 30 and 35 amp purple batteries

montara,

Thanks so much for the quick response! I was actually considering cancelling my order, don't think I'll need to now :)

Follow up question - What about a dual coil between 1.5 - 1.8 ohm? That would work fine as well? I ordered the Aspire Nautilus, that's what I'm hoping to use mainly on the mod.

-Mike

That should work fine. You'll likely have to use 32 gauge at something like 5 or 6 wraps per coil to achieve that. For higher ohm dual coils, you may want to look in to 34 gauge. A lighter gauge coil will spool up much faster than a low gauge coil, like 26 or 28. I have dual 9 wrap 26 gauge coils at .34 ohms myself on my Reo, and they take a second to spool up, but not very long. I did a 1.0 ohm 32 gauge coil (3 wraps) and that thing lit up like a lightning bolt!

What mod and topper are you using?
