Hi,

I am totally new to any type of smoking but have contemplated starting for a long time. Now knowing there are the new types of ecigs out there I purchased myself the Gamucci Classic Electronic Cigarette waiting for it to arrive tomorrow.

I since read that there are tons of other ecigs and I may of made the wrong choice of ecig?

Any advice on the best type would be helpful and any tips on getting started tomorrow with my new ecig from gamucci.

Do I need to build up slowly ?

Any side affects for new smokers at first to look out for ?

Thanks everyone :D

OK, I have to say this....

If you don't currently smoke.....DON'T START!!!

It's a disgusting, dirty, smelly, unhealthy habit you don't need. And I wouldn't recommend e-smoking no-nic stuff because you will develop the pattern/routines that could lead to smoking real cigs.

Have you tried gum, candy, guns, drag-racing, bomb-diffusing, or any of the other MORE safe alternatives?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I knew probably you would try get to not even start bit even though I have never smoked it's just something I wanted to give a go as a lot of my friends do it in pubs now and also mentioned there is the new ecig which I researched a little.

Is it addictive in that after one try I could be addicted? I would like to start off slowly and work up but just wanted some tips on the best way to go about it.

Thanks

Rob

Rob-wise up mate...

even zero cartridges contain some nicotine...maybe enough to start addiction...

we're only here because we are addicts...its not a pleasant situation to be in,we're just making the best of it...all of us wish we'd never started...

nobody can say esmoking is safe...even we who do it dont really know anything about its long term effects...we are basically guinea pigs...and we are already addicted...anyone who voluntarily starts to do this is an idiot...

the best advise i can give you is-return the gamucci for refund,or give it to someone who smokes as a gift, and get on with your life...

by the way folks-its this kind of post which makes me shudder....i expect this kind of mentality to be rife....perfect ammunition for the antis and government to regard the ecig as a gateway to real cigarettes and/or nicotine addiction in people who ordinarily would not start to smoke, because they think its harmless to esmoke...

this is the result of misinformation, lack of knowledge and testing, false marketing, and rushing the process to public consciousness before it was ready....

Rob, nicotine is said to be more addictive than ....... I know it's nice to be like your mates and do the things they're doing but if you're going to try this make it as safe as possible. The last thing you need is a lifetime of dependency. The people on here can tell you there is nothing cool or fun about being addicted, it's a big worry. So what I'm trying to say is the ecig itself is probably not too bad but using it with nicotine is just daft, you have a choice not to.

Sorry to not be enthusiastic about it for you but it's not clear that esmoking will be any good for non-smokers, it might actually be harmful. We don't know and you're not trying to feed an addiction ... yet ... so, well, just think carefully and if you can avoid nicotine that would be best.

Good luck.

EDIT
Didn't see your post before I posted Darcy so sorry if I repeat anything.

Maybe wait a while to see if there is some kind of healthy vitamin vapor devices...these aren't that. If you don't smoke...don't even try these. I don't think the purpose...at least as far as we are concerned is to start new addicts...that would be a big black mark on this new device and never never never thought as being cool. Don't do it.

Thanks again everyone for the advice I guess after all it is my life and I know you were just trying to help me not to even start.

The gamucci arrived today and so I took it out and tested it out with a low nic 6mg cart. Not knowing what to expect I went ahead set it up and inhaled a few times. I Can't really say I tasted anything the first few but then just a slight taste of what must be the nicotine a little after in my mouth.

It's strange because I find it relaxes me and this could be just non nicotine related , but for me it seemed to relax me and also felt pleasurable while smoking the ecig.

I keep wanting to pick it up take another drag lol can't be that addictive that it gets you on that low mg surly, the main thing is that I like doing it and think I shall stick with it now.

The only other thing is for around 30 minute snow I have like a funny feeling in my throat, not sure how to describe it, i would not say sore but just a feeling like that dry sore feeling but not painful. Anyone else get this?
It came with default carts tobacco regular and I got a light one which I am using now. I am going to get a kissbox and some of that juice called 'Like Smoke' from ecigs.co.uk once it comes in, any other recommendations would be great.

Thanks and love this community.

Propylene Glycol,

it's the main ingredient in most e-liquids ( 80%-95% ). it is used to suspend the nicotine and create the vapour.

theres a little thread about it HERE

although there is plenty of info on the forum about it , take a browse.

edit : Rob , i know we all sound like nagging parents but it's a slippery path this nicotine stuff.
and i bet 99% of smokers either tobacco or e-cig will tell you they wish they never started smoking.
Don't start just to 'Fit in with your mates' your mates are the stupid ones for doing it, and if they were any kind of mates then they wouldn't want you to start either.

I have a couple quick things to add. I love smoking, but I wish i had never started. I'm sure i would have found other pleasures in life.

Nicotine addiction is only part of the problem with cigs and the e-cig. With enough time you will develop muscle memory and a habit. Most people can get off nicotine as it only take a few honest days, but the habit part is what takes it's toll on so many quitters. I've quit too many times to count, but the hand to mouth thing is what kills me every time.

It is your choice to use them, or not, but if you aren't on nicotine, i'd stay with zero nic carts and liquid.

The fact that you want to use it is probably more out of the "new toy factor" than any addiction. Nicotine is not as quick as ...... to addict, but the addiction can be worse.

I'm only 26, but i wish i had the knowledge at 16 that i have now.

Rat is right he knows what he is talking about and the reason I stick with the ecig. That hand to mouth action is pretty damn hard to give up. Some people find getting off nicotine is hard enough, (ask TropicalBob) but the ecig is only going to get banned if people like you use it as an excuse to start smoking. The ecig has helped many people get off smoking. Wouldn't you rather see a smoker saved by the ecig than someone start on the ecig and then move on to try and get hooked on real cigarettes?

I'm sure everyone here remembers when they first started smoking and told their friends and family "Oh, I can quit whenever I want. I'm not an addict."

Well, that was a long 30+ years ago. I WAS AN IDIOT!!! I'm thankful my daughters have grown up in a different environment and with different morality about smoking. They have no desire to even try it (THANK HEAVENS!).

So my opening advice still stands....DON'T START. And if you do, welcome to your new addiction. :| Please deposit money here ---> (Ok, how do I draw a bottomless pit?)

well Rob,you made a bad decision...but youre the one whos gonna have to live with it in future...

we just tried to help you, because we all remember making the same bad decision, and we all regret it bitterly...clearly you havnt a clue whats in store for you a little way down the road...

apart from anything else, this habit is time consuming and expensive...and ecigs arent a toy or gadget, theyre really a drug delivery device...

and what if ecigs are banned,or the liquid banned?
this may well happen, its a distinct possibility...youre gonna be properly addicted to nicotine...dependant on it-i dont think you can understand how much...so what are you gonna do then?

youd end up smoking fags mate...and then youll really find out what its all about...
