This reminds me of a comment I got in my Youtube messages. A 13 year old asked me if it would be OK to e-smoke if he used 0 nicotine carts. Well, of course I told him no, nicotine or not it's an adult activity, and he shouldn't do it. But I don't kid myself that he'll listen. I remember what I was like at that age. ;)

okay, think he gets the message. we might be pushing him straight to the strong stuff and not know it. No more parenting. It is a new gadget and unfortunately will attract the curious. that is not good. that is why the liquids and even devices will eventually be banned or controlled by our "protective governments" Wonder if we can create a private club that might not be as public as this, to continue the friendship, sharing and trading we have established here without the powers to be getting nervous about young non smoker like this one starting a new addiction.

Hi,

I am totally new to any type of smoking but have contemplated starting for a long time. Now knowing there are the new types of ecigs out there I purchased myself the Gamucci Classic Electronic Cigarette waiting for it to arrive tomorrow.

Do I need to build up slowly ?

Any side affects for new smokers at first to look out for ?

Thanks everyone :D

Rob

Rob, asking the best way to build up to nicotine is like a non-drinker asking the best way to become an alcoholic, the best way to start slow and build up to drinking a fifth a day. I don't understand. Why would you want to?

Hi Rob

Right then I just want to say one thing, I agree with you, its your life, do what you want with it! I mean listen to all these hypocrites preaching to you, telling you not to start, giving you advice and wondering why your not listening BEARING in mind that they recieved the same advice when they were your age and decided not to take it.

Hey I decided to start smoking when I were 18 after I left the army, I thought all my mates do it, so I should start as well, keep up with my mates etc....

I've never looked back, hey its worked out for me, I can run for about 30 seconds before I have to stop to cough up black gunge from my lungs, Im only £2,000 down a year and I will probably if Im lucky make it past the great age of 60!!!

See Im not afraid of lung cancer, the thought of having to have a lung removed and living the rest of my short life attached to a gas canister without being able to walk 5 steps before Im gagging for breath. No that doesnt bother me.

Im not afraid of throat cancer either, who cares if I have to have a section of my esophagus removed so I can never eat naturally again, let alone speak without the help of a machine. See none of these things bother me, Im going to die an excruciating and lonely death but Im happy about it.

The only thing that does bother me is that my mates have all quit smoking now, but I find it harder to suspend my addiction than they did, If I go round there house Im the only one standing outside in the rain toking, its wierd now Im the outsider!!!!

So you go dude!!! your independence (or lack of it) inspires me, oh and one more thing, say goodbye to your erection!

I think you guys are being overly defensive. Rob I say, at your own risk as an adult do Esmoke once you understand all you can about it,and if you still want to do it by all means do, I do agree with them though, using the 0 nicotine smokes are really just as fun. We have turned ecig esmoking into a HOBBY, not a replacement therapy or quitting device. Some people smoke hookahs who dont smoke cigarettes, some people drink fancy teas with unknown ingredients as a hobby. This is a hobby that can affect chemistry in your brain and body so it does have some cautionary terms... But other then that, live and learn like we are doing and feel free to stay clear of the tobacco flavored carts and juices and take part in the vasy array of delicious flavors like melon and strawberry and green tea. Join our hobby if you like.

Ok, I'm trying to get to the truth of this.

Smoking one or two cigs worth of nicotine doesn't get you addicted. You can promise yourself you smoke it only when in bar and if you did that you would not get addicted(unless you sit in the bar daily). Problem is that people do not generally keep their promises and you will not be able to keep to that promise either (*). Soon enough you decide to puff it at home while your friends smoke. Then you puff it when you drink alone and eventually you smoke it all the time.

I'm obviously guessing here but I would think it takes about twice the time to break nicotine addiction than to get addicted. So if you smoke for 1 day, it takes 2 continuous days of non-smoking to loose that addiction. If week, it takes 2 continuous weeks of non-smoking to loose that addiction. What makes this a little problematic is that loosing an addiction tends to cause depression so doing this cycle would negate social and other benefits smoking might of had.

(*) unless you happen to be one of those couple precent of population that do not get addicted to nicotine
