New to tanks, a question/dilemma

I recently ordered a glass phiniac tank, and some pre punched cartos. The problem is with the Cartos, they are standard Boge, but they are punched once, just below mid way up the outside. I can see it goes through to the poly fill but is this a little high and inadequate? the size of the hole looks comparable to others ive seen in photos, but im curious if one is good enough . I usually smoke 50/50 or 60/40 pg vg juice.

Every time i try to take a hit its got that dry atty taste to it. i filled it an hour ago.

I've only had one tank with a pre-punched carto and it was towards the bottom. I slot mine myself with a Dremel and put the slots at the bottom of it so they just clear the ends of the tank.

I use the smoketech pre punched cartos, I haven't had a problem with those unless the carto was bad from the start. They also have one small hole closer to the bottom, using 50/50 here and not having any problems with it. My guess is the hole is located a little to high.

did you fill the carto before you put it in the tank and filled it?

I use a 1/4'' self tapping saddle valve to punch my cartos that I use in J-tanks. It works really well. The position would vary a little between tanks, but it has to just clear the bottom cap little - you can pretty much eyeball it, mark it and go.

Hey Bonewitz, I only use Phiniac Tanks! Just love them! Using 801 fusion cartos with them that I punch. The holes should be close to the bottom of the tank. With thicker juices you may need more than one hole. In this case I would try punching another hole closer to the bottom of the tank. Hope this helps.

Best way to do it is to slide a new carto on to the cap and then mark the carto. Slot it with a dremel. If I use dcc's, I make 2 slots...one up about midway but with a Boge, one slot at the bottom (where the cap on the inside of tank) does fine.

I will be picking up a saddle valve after work tomorrow. Maybe a second hole or just punching one of my own will be better. I tried the cart without the tank and a little liquid comes out of the punched hole but i still get dry atty effect after one decent hit.

I think a previous poster mentioned to fill the carto up as you would a normal one without the tank. This will eliminate the chance of burning a new carto. Don't need to do it everytime just when its new. Sounds like you don't have enough liquid into the filler yet. GL
