Hi all!

My name is Brandon and I started vaping back in April. I used to smoke fairly regularly but only around two smokes a day which isn't much but it's definitely too much for my straight-edge girlfriend. So since I kind of like her quite a bit and I'm aware of the consequences, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try the electronic route to quit. I shelled out $15 for a 21st Century disposable because I didn't want to make an investment in a starter pack to find out I can't stand them. After digging it for what it was, I found a disposable Blu e-cig and wanted to compare it to since, from what I gathered, it is a fairly reputable company.

After being sold on the vapor, I bought the Krave (made by Smoke51) e-cig starter pack at the discount tobacco store and for the price and convenience, it's quite a good deal. The pulls and throat hits are pretty reasonable. It only comes in menthol or tobacco flavoring-the menthol is too strong, though. They also only come in 14mg of nicotine ('14' is on the cartridges). However, they don't last too long after puffing a lot for a couple days before they taste burnt. The battery and atomizer is also still going strong after a few months, so far. I'm surprised I can't find anyone who has done any reviews on Krave's non-disposable e-cigs. All in all, a good start for me, imo.

I'm here to learn more about refilling my own cartridges as I'm aware of the cost efficiency. I also really, really want one of the passthrough PVs(under $30) since I'm usually around my computer or usb car charger.

So I'd appreciate recommendations for brands of juice(clove flavoring, maybe? I miss Djarum smokes) and passthrough PVs that can work with a 'gaming' laptop(does usb 3.0 help?) and regular usb car chargers.

I'm really glad that this forum exists; The community here seems huge as well as the abundance of information.

I'm also into Jeep Wranglers, photography, music and musical instruments, and straight shaving.

Later and have a great day!
Brandon

Smokeless Image offers a nice pass through for about $20, and you can save 16% with code voltsave.

Here's a tutorial on how to fill a cartomizer, most people prefer them to the cartridge/atomizer combo A PBusardo Tutorial : Filling Boge 510 Cartomizers - YouTube.

As far as juice, there are tons of great vendors. Personally, I like ecblend because they are good quality and offer one of the lowest prices.

Welcome Jeep! Im new here as well.
I have only been vamping for about a week and am very new to everything. Maybe a veteran here can shed some more light on the passthroughs but I did hear that they can be pretty hard on the motherboard of your PC? Hopefully there are some good folks on here that can shed more light on this subject?

I'm a Jeeper as well. 2011 Rubicon JK Unlimited myself.

Good luck!

Hi Brandon and welcome to ECF. Passthroughs are great but repose there are diff thread models. 510/ and 808 are most common BUT 510 accessories much easier to find. Yes A's noted above be careful of PT on your PC. Rare but have been instances of MB or USB frying. On my IPhone expecting guests so right now can't find anything for you. I'm sure somdone will come shortly and have something for you.
Happy Vaping.

Thanks Kookycole! Subscribed to PBusardo. That Volt model from Smokeless Image seems to require a wall adapter to use since it needs more power. I guess it's not bad but I like to travel light if I'm taking my computer somewhere and don't want to worry about forgetting the adapter. Thanks again!

I've seen people say that they use it on their laptop. You could try contacting smokeless image, either on the forum or via e-mail to double check, they have great customer service.

Hi Bandon - welcome. I l,love, love, love my passthrus. Charging it on my pc while using it is the greatest & then capping it & running out the door - IMO, it doesn't get much better. All mine are the Joyetech egos & now also have it in the ego upgrade. I purchased mine thru www.cignot.com - GREAT customer service & lightning fast shipping. There are other great vendors here on ECF, however, when it comes to my batts - Cignot is my no. 1. Good luck to you & enjoy.

A passthrough would work on any computer with a USB port. I use a passthrough pretty regularly with my ASUS G74 and it works on the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports without noticeable difference.

With a car, you have to be a little more careful or it may not work. Your power outlet to USB converter should be able to put out enough power to supply the wattage necessary to the device. For example, your car adapter may work on a regular 510, but as soon as you plug in an ego style battery, you get no love.

For my car, I have the Volcano USB Car Charger, it barely sticks out of my car's cigarette lighter and has a little LED indicator that says whether or not the charger is getting power from the car. With my Volcano charger, I use my 650mAH ego passthrough battery. Here's the link to the adapter I use: Volcano eCigs Car Charger I find it works well for more than just my ecig, I normally have it plugged into my GPS because it's a lot less cumbersome and more versatile than the factory charger.

On the other hand, you could probably use your existing GPS charger (assuming it's a mini-usb connection) with your usb ecig device should you get one.

Edit to add: +1 for smokeless image

I'll leave the recommendations for juices and hardware to the more seasoned vapers.
