Rule #1: Don't over tighten. Turn until there is contact (hit the button and listen for the hiss), and then a touch more. To tight and you risk shorting the atty.

Rule #2: Protected or safe chemistry batteries (and extras).

Rule #3: Enjoy.

I'm not obsessive about cleaning it. A micro fibre cloth does just fine. I did polish it when I got it, and will repeat at some point.

GGTS or Stealth? Just asking b/c I don't think Bruce has had any SSGGTS's in for several weeks. And you will get confused real fast looking for the air control on a stealth. Either way they are both great devices, just the TS has a little more learning curve (but not too bad).

Hey slumdog, congrats and welcome! :toast:

Even though your GG will come brand new and shiny, I would recommend taking it apart and giving it a detailed cleaning. A dish soap and toothbrush bath is what I prefer to do. After all components are completely dry, apply a small amount of vaseline to all threads. Pay special attention to all contact points to make sure they are nice and shiny.

The most important advice I can offer is to take your time to learn how much to screw down the telescope tube without over-tightening it which could result in shorting your atomizer. In the beginning, I would follow Para's advice and actually hold down the button while you are tightening the telescope. When you hear your atty fire, let go of the button and give it about and extra half a turn. If you ever decide to upgrade the factory spring with a Fuse Kit Upgrade, you will have a much better feel for when to stop.

If you ever feel like the performance is dropping, the issue always seems to be with either the contact points being dirty or that your button needs to be taken apart and cleaned, which includes sanding and wiping of the button spring (unless you have the 2012 button with the brass spring).

I'm sure you will have some more questions when your GG arrives... Don't hesitate to ask, this place is loaded with some veteran GG experts who are always willing to offer advice and help.

Have fun! :)

Edit to add: Wow, three posts while I was typing... See what I told you? :)

Sounds great... Just make sure to NOT go overboard with vaseline since too much is not good. Just a nice light coat and everything should be peachy :)

Grats, had I known they were in stock you might be dreamin' about one. But that was the last straw, ditching FireFox.

Yeah, I got the alert for the Ody so I guess I won't complain about the lack of a notification on the TS. But CoV needs an upgrade BAD.
