Hi,

I discovered vaping last night, ordered a unit from a UK distributor and am currently waiting for it to get here! I've been a smoker (roll-ups) for the last 12 years and I am looking to switch completely to something else. I've tried gum, patches.

When I saw vaping - it looks like something that I would like. As soon as the unit arrives (Janty Stick v2) I will stop smoking roll-ups.

I'm a video editor as a job - so I'll be making regular video diaries to chart my progress. I hope you'll check them out. My user name is Smoke2Vape.

More info on that when I have posted enough.

If you have any hints or tips about making the switch - I'd love to hear them.

All the best,

Andy.

Welcome, this forum is very informative and the members are very helpful. I have no experience with the ecig you purchased, but I am sure many other member do.

As for quitting smoking, I would recommend let it happen as “natural” as possible. I was a 3-4.5 pack a day smoker for about 25 years. The first day that I received my ecig, my cigarette consumption deceased to 13. Each day after that my cigarette consumption decreased daily without even trying until I got down to 2-3 cigarettes a day (day 8). After 3 days of consuming 2-3 cigarettes a day, I decided that tomorrow (day 12) I was not going to have a cigarette. Today I have not had a cigarette in 20 days. I can breathe better, smell and taste better. I feel great!

Reducing my cigarette consumption to 2-3 a day took no effort at all (well I started at 24 mg’s and I was craving cigarettes too much, but I then switched to 36 mg’s and that took care of most of my cravings).

Going completely cigarette free was not hard, but it was not effortless (some forum members make the transition effortlessly). I still get one or two minor to moderate cravings for a cigarette per day, but not a big deal and my cravings are decreasing daily. Before the ecig, I quit smoking once for about 24hrs. using the patch. I was miserable that day. So to go 20 days and counting without a cigarette is miraculous for me.

Furthermore, I never was involved in any type of forum before this one. For me, all the success stories have been inspiring and definitely helps put me in the mindset and helps motivate me to stay off cigarettes.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Best tips i can think of is to get several different strengths of juice so yo can find the one that does best for you so you're not getting cravings..and that varries from person to person, how much you were smoking to begin with, type of cigs etc...

Adittionally, as you transition to vaping from smoking, your taste buds will come alive again and you'll het your sense of taste back and the flavor of juice you start off with or what you think you prefer might change after a bit..so it's been suggested that you get a sampler of juice flavors, one or 2 from each of 5 sort of categories a tobacco flavor, a menthol or mint flavor, a coffee or chocolate flavor, a dessert or liquor flavor, and a fruit flavor..this works well in finding what you like and making your vaping experience an enjoyable one..

Hey,

Thanks for all your support and great advice. I hope the FDA see it your way. I don't know the situation here in the UK with it being banned or not, but I hope we have a few more years.

I started on the Janty yesterday and did not have an analogue all day. Today, the Mk2 Screwdriver arrived - and have hit the 36mg juice - so I'm probably on more Nicotine than I had when on cigs - so not missing them at all. I'm sure as the novelty is replaced just by pleasure of vaping - I'll find my way.

I'm struggling with the flavours slightly - they all seem to taste the same - I've got to Atty's and keeping one for fruit flavours, the over for tobacco flav's. The Janty Stick is for coffee. It's working great so far, but they all taste a bit like chocolate, sweet.

I'm sure my tastebuds will fall into line over the coming weeks. I can see why it's all about the juice now. Ordering some more tonight. Any suggestions?

Thanks again, and my review of the Janty Stick went live about an hour ago. Youtube search "Smoke2Vape" and you'll find my ugly mug.

Bye for now.

Good to see it's going well so far.

Yes the tastebuds should come back to life shortly after giving up the real smokes and then you will notice a huge difference in flavors.

Only UK vendor I have ever gotten anything from, and therefore the only one I could suggest, is Intellicigs ECOpure. So far I have only tried the Regular and the Rich versions but both are very good. Nice smooth tastes that aren't overpowering. But those are ones that you may want to try once you get some taste going from the others.
