Well Iv'e been vaping for about a year now and found this forum the other day so I guess you could say I'm a noob. As of now I have ( what I understand) is a e-vod tank with a 3.2- 4.8 vv "pro" mod(?)/ battery and a 2.5 ohm atomizer/wick/coil or whatever. I'm trying to get a full understanding of vaping and e-cigs and where are some highly recommended shops (in my area) or sites to buy supplies for a good price. Iv'e bought from Lizard juice but don't anymore unless I need a single atomizer ($5.00 or so) and get my juice and multiple atomizers (5 for $16) from Vapor Zone.

So a few questions:

1) does atomizer rebuilding improve performance or is it just cheaper than buying atomizers?
2) even with a 2.5 ohm atomizer I get a burnt taste with voltage set to 4.8. Normal or is something wrong?
3) where should I upgrade next? tank, battery/mod, etc.?

Hello and welcome!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

And here are a few more on "vaping terminology".

1. A – Z E-Cig Glossary
2. e-Cigarette Jargon and Terms – eCig 101
3. Vaping Glossary - what does it all mean?
4. ECF Abbreviations 101

#4 is very handy when trying to decipher ECF members "slang".

Sounds like you've got an ego style battery, does it look like this?

/ battery and a 2.5 ohm atomizer/wick/coil or whatever. It can improve performance, depending on what you're rebuilding and how good you are at it :)

2) even with a 2.5 ohm atomizer I get a burnt taste with voltage set to 4.8. Normal or is something wrong?

I only use those style batteries as backups now but ya when I vape them at 4.8 everything tastes burnt to me.

3) where should I upgrade next? tank, battery/mod, etc?

I've been using a mech mods so hopefully someone else can recommend a good vv/vw device for you to get your feet wet with. Maybe something with a DNA30 in it.

Hope this helps a little!

Yes, rebuilding your Kanger coils will improve performance.

If you are interested in doing this make sure you purchase a ohm reader to measure your build before you put it on your e-cig (and don't build any lower than the ohms of the coils you can purchase). Mini Protank Micro Coil Rebuild

2) even with a 2.5 ohm atomizer I get a burnt taste with voltage set to 4.8. Normal or is something wrong?
Yes, that can be pretty normal. You are getting that "burnt taste" (what we call "dry hits") because your tank cannot feed the e-liquid fast enough based on the voltage/wattage you are vaping at. There are 2 things you can do.

#1. Turn down your voltage/wattage.
#2. Try taking a few pulls on your tank (without engaging your battery). This will pull more e-liquid into the coils. This sometimes works, but not always. Depends on your e-liquid.

3) where should I upgrade next? tank, battery/mod, etc.?
Covered in my previous post.:)

to ecf Longboarder1990. So glad you are here. I started out a long time ago rebuilding my evod's and Protanks and I always felt like their was improved performance and I am sure it saved money. There are some excellent YouTube videos on rebuilding which is where I found it easy to learn. Good luck to you and happy vaping.

Shout out to Clearwater from upper Largo!

First, ditch Lizard Juice. They are crap. There is a lot of good advice already but unless I missed it, what topper are you using? Reach out to me by PM if you like. Welcome to ECF!

By topper do you mean my "tank" and if so it's a Lizard Juice "L-VOD" (so they call it)

http :// www . lizard juice . com/ecig-accessories/l-vod-tank . html

I hardly ever go to Lizard Juice anymore unless I can't get a hold of the monies for my usual 5 pack
I have heard of a place in Largo called Vape N Joe. Any opinion on them?
