Atomizer difficulties

I have an ego twist 1000 with EVOD and Mini Protank-II mods by KangerTech. My first atomizer (2.5 Ohm) will burn perfectly, even when I crank it to 4.8 volts, however... I bought 5 more 2.5 Ohm atomizers and they all started tasting burnt if I went above 3.8 volts. So what is with that? The atomizers are all 2.5 ohms. Maybe it was a bad batch, is that possible?

I would like to also add that I've tried everything with these 5 atomizers. I waited 1 whole day to let it soak, I used a rubber cap and did the plunger technique to prime it. I tried slowly working my way up voltages and I tried huffing off the e-cig without hitting the button to bring the e-juice up into the atty, and I tried dripping drops directly in the atty and it still tasted burnt at anything above 3.8 volts.

On this link, it clearly states that you should be able to go to 4.8 volts using a 2.5 OHM atty.

The beauty of having a VV device is that you can tailor your device to fit each juice. I have some juices that vape nicely at 3.8 or 3.9. I have a few juices that are better at 4.1 or so. Only use the voltage you need for the optimum experience with each different juice. Just start at a low wattage and increase it little by little until you find the sweet spot.

The only time I ever crank it up high (4.6ish) is when I use my dripping 510 atty. Even thought I bought it at 2.2 ohms, there must be something different about these atty's. It has to be turned up pretty high for it to function right.

I didn't realize that different juice's have optimal burning points. Would all from the same vendor be mixed for the volts?

Think of it like cooking.... You have your base products, PG & VG in various percentages, then you start adding stuff to give it flavour and this'll change how you have to cook it to get it tasting just right. It'll change between every flavour through every vendor but the range you have to deal with on your device is pretty small (3.3v thru maybe 4.6). Lower settings for thinner liquids generally, but you'll find your favourite setting for each liquid you settle on

I think it's your juices. They may all have different pg/vg ratio..... also nicotine level and flavoring affect as well. Sometimes if I pulse the button for a few minutes, taste becomes normal again.

Kanger has been having serious quality control issues lately. GrimmGreen just posted a video about the same exact thing you are saying. The heads are very inconsistent in their quality, and it's not uncommon these days for people to comment that only 2 of the 5 heads in a pack behave correctly.. from gurgling and leaking to burning juice to even burning the rubber gasket.

I highly recommend learning how to rebuild them. 28 or 30ga Kanthal wire, 9-11 wraps or so.. dial it how you like (you'll learn where the sweet spot is for you), and use a cotton wick. It's actually very easy once you get it down, the coils will last months, and you can regularly swap out the wicks when they taste funky or if you change flavors. (that's one of my favorite parts of understanding this, is the ability to swap out wicks when I change flavors.. it gives it a fresh, clean start)

If everything is the same except the heads, I guess it's safe to say they're the problem. If they're all printed with 2.5 ohm, then it's definitely a QC problem. Hopefully you can find a useable voltage on them, though.
Is there a shop nearby or can you get to Moncton or Fredericton? You can get them tested and maybe pick up some others to tide you through.

This exactly^^^^ Learning to rebuild with cotton will make you appreciate the PT's so much more.
