Hello, I started vaping about 2 months ago and prior to that, 2 years before I had started but never really got anywhere with it, most likely due to the lack of variety and other factors. I now use a mini protank 2 on a vision spinner 2 and love the way it vapes, minus the few problems I've had with my coils popping and the tank leaking when I was first getting used to it. I recently picked up a foot of 26g kanthal, and with doing so I wondered if it would be possible to take my popped atomizer head and re-wrap a new coil, obviously using a multimeter to check the resistance when it was finished.

The reason I ask is because it would be much cheaper to just re-build using the kanthal and organic cotton balls than it would be to buy the entire atomizer head from my local shop. Sadly the guy said they don't carry 28g kanthal, or else I would have gotten that to rebuild my coil. I already have the android "vapers toolbox" app to check length and other factors, but I figured it would be a wise idea to check with some veterans first. I'm not entirely nooby as I've watched my friend build many coils for his RDA, but since this would be for a mini protank 2 I figured it's going to be a little different, I already watched Rip Trippers video on how to do this, but again I stress that I thought it would be wise to ask the community first, Thanks guys, and I'm definitely going to be a long time member of this forum :D

I rebuild the kanger coils for my wife all the time. Normally I use 32g kanthal. I have used 30 but I find it easier to use 32g because it fits better and is easier to get the desired ohms. I keep hers around 1.5 ohms and she's happy as can be. Also I recommend using organic cotton for the wick. Personal preference of course but it seems to taste better.

Lots of youtube videos on building protank coils...I have 10 devices with this head going right now (evods, protanks, and minis), with cotton wicks. You may discover that you like your coils better than the factory coils. At least that has been my experience. I agree that you might prefer 30-32ga kanthal. If you have a vape shop nearby, you could likely pick some up. My shop usually sells me 1 meter for $5 in emergencies. But online I get 30' for nearly the same price.

So, I should probably keep this 26g aside for when I get my RDA then? I'm planning on ordering an Igo-W plus this friday, along with a 100ft roll of kanthal from amazon, I can get it in 28g, 30g and 32g, which would be best for using such an RDA on a vision spinner 2? I do plan on getting a mod very soon, but sadly i'll be stuck using the vision spinner 2 until that point, i'm also going to be sticking to single coils in the RDA when I get it. Thank you everyone for your input, I already like this forum :)

I have an Igo-L single coil that I use 30 or 32ga wire for a simple open coil. I started with 32ga, but lately I've been using 30ga to get a few more wraps. The 30ga heats up a bit slower than the 32ga but I get more surface area...so it's kind of a toss up.
Sounds good, I'm not really looking for too much of a cloud, just enough to satisfy the nicotine cravings for now until I can get lower on my milligrams. I'm currently at 12mg, and started at 24mg. What gauge of kanthal would you suggest for an Igo-W plus on a vision spinner 2? I'm aiming for 1.5-1.8 ohm coils with hopefully making some micro coils if that's possible.

EDIT: Would it be safe to use 28g kanthal on an igo-w plus with a vision spinner 2? I heard that as long as I don't go under 1.5 ohms for a coil I should be good, but I can order a 100ft spool of kanthal for only $7.70 which is within my budget, I just want to be sure before I place an order. How many wraps should I consider using a drill bit of suggested width?

EDIT 2: Is there a rebuildable tank atomizer within the range of $10-$15 that I should consider instead of dripping? I prefer not to drip every 2-3 hits and it would be a blessing to find such a device :)
http://www.discountvapers.com/bt805-hellfire-rebuildable-atomizer/ would this be a good RBA?

BT805 Hellfire Rebuildable atomizer would this be a good RBA?

I'm not really an expert but I'll try.

First, with my Igo-L, it has a nice well, so with a good length of cotton wick I can use 10-12 drop of liquid. That will last me 1/2 hour or more...maybe even an hour. So it's more like a small tank.

You may find that you can use less nic. I know I use 6mg (also started at 24mg 2 years ago) and I get more of a nic hit on the dripper...so sometimes I can use 4mg.

I don't have any experience with dual coils...only single. I use a 1/16" drill bit. I don't usually try to touch the loops...just a slightly open coil. I try for 1.5-1.8 ohms. I use 5-6 wraps with 32ga and 7-8 wraps with 30ga.

You should have no problem with either gauge, but I suggest the 30ga. You can surely use 28ga but that would take several more wraps. As long as you meter out at 1.5 ohms or more, it really doesn't matter.

Thanks for the information, I think i'm going to settle on either the igo-L or the igo-W plus :)
