So with the uncertainty of vaping laws in my state (Florida) I've decided after 7 years of vaping to take a shot at DIY.

Interested in any links, tips or info you have to provide. I'm just getting started here in the site.

Hello to all, and stay safe through this rough time.

Hi and welcome to ECF.

Basic DIY starting supplies:

DIY calculator for calculating and storing recipes (I use a phone calculator, lots of free ones on the app store for android & pc, not sure about mac)
500 gram scale that measures .01 grams (for measuring by weight, get one that doesn't have auto shut off feature)
PG
VG
(2) 1 L or smaller plastic containers with Yorker caps for dispensing PG and VG, or ketchup dispenser bottles (what I use)
Nicotine or Nicotine Salts (There are PG based, and VG based ones, and blends of both. I stick to PG based because it's easier to dispense, and 100mg/mL as it is easier to store and economical)
Glass bottles w/polycone liner caps (For storing nicotine in the freezer to slow down oxidation, poly cone caps are better than the ones with the foam disks in them)
Empty e-liquid bottles for mixing in
Flavors
Paper Towels

The scale doesn't have to be expensive, I got one on Amazon for less than $15. I like the ones that have a tray on them, search for 500 x .01 gram scale. Flavors, PG, VG, and Nicotine, and sometimes glass bottles, can usually be bought from the same vendor. Many places offer free shipping over $50, so this makes a difference when buying bulky items like PG, VG, or bottles because the weight/size. The rest of the items needed can be sourced locally. If you decide on Yorker tips and plastic bottles, it's easier to get them from the site you are getting your DIY stuff from, but cheap plastic ketchup dispensers can be had from Walmart or Dollar Tree, etc.

Some DIY supply websites I've done business with that I like.

Nicotine Liquid - Vegetable Glycerin - Flavorings -Wholesale and DIY Heartlandvapes Wholesale
PG, VG, Nicotine, flavors, plastic and glass bottles, caps, Yorker caps

Liquid Nicotine - Nicotine Salts | Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers
PG, VG, Nicotine, flavors

Bull City Flavors - Best Prices on Flavoring
PG, VG, flavors, a few plastic bottles (not much), yorker caps.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, happy to help.

Hi and welcome,
IMO,
Find recipes, then buy flavors.
"One shots" are an easy way to get started and vapable results are almost guaranteed.
Unflavored IS a flavor.
It's better to mix "weak" and add more as needed versus starting too strong and attempting to dilute.

Cheers

Hello and welcome to ECF and you have lots of good advice already. IDK I started with single flavors and combined them in my tank to get a sense of what goes with what.

I am a medium level DIY person, in the sense that if I want dragon fruit or something I buy a one shot, etc. There are mixes I am great at making but that melon-y weird stuff I'm NOT.

I will say there is value to the well put together one shot but use your common sense there too, sheesh I had one Claire something one shot that said mix at 23%. After smelling it, I mixed at 8 and it's already almost too sweet.

Always easier (usually) to flavor up than flavor down.

Oh but you will get tons of tips us DIY are like bees swarming a hive. LOL.A

Welcome.

Welcome, above all enjoy, I mix myself and get lots of info from this forum, I basically freelance my mix cause some recipes call for plenty of different concentrates, I tend to start weak and then work with it from there.
I still buy commercial juice cause it's not yet a problem in the UK but who knows what is going to happen in the future, so I decided it's best to learn diy.

Hi, welcome.
Absolutely get a digital scale. I agree. Got mine on fleabay for $15.
And I'd get a 3ml syringe with a blunt tip. This would be for the nic.
I would buy smaller amounts of vg (and pg). See if mixing your own is something you will continue.
Why? The price (and availability) of pg is off the chart because of COVID-19. Everyone is making hand sanitizers.
I'd guess 250mg of vg would get you to a time when the demand for pg would have lessened, and the price drops down to something reasonable. At 50/50 pg/vg, that's enough for about 15 bottles of 30ml.
In 2016, I got a gallon of vg and a gallon of pg, delivered, for $44.
Still have 5/8gal of the pg, but about a cup or 2 of the vg. So I will wait and hope I have enough.

Best of luck.
