Two months ago I bought an EVOD starter kit. I've mostly been vaping the ZVR Lemon Cheesecake, the Five Pawns Gambit, the DNA Key Lime Pie, the Jet Fuel Papi Churro, the Seduce juice Snake Oil, the Halo Malibu, and the Halo Kringle's Curse mixed with their Belgian Cocoa. I have juices from a bunch of other vendors that I haven't given a real try to yet or that are still steeping.

I love my EVOD and PT2 mini tanks, but I know I can probably only get the stronger flavor I want by dripping. I have coming in the mail: a Chi You clone, a pair of Sony US18650VTR4 30A/2100mAh batteries, a Soshine SC-S2 charger, a Smoktech safety fuse, a Trident RDA, and an EVOD twist battery just to crank up my tanks a bit.

Have I made the right choice as far as matching the batteries with the charger? I would also appreciate any safety tips (I'm scared of exploding batteries or building coils that short), recommendations for juices, or specific instructions regarding the Chi You and the Trident. Thanks!

Welcome - looks like you have been doing some research on equipment. Definitely test your builds before firing them - you should have a VV/VW device that reads Ohms? or other resistance tester? Should be good to go - Youtube, Google and ECF are your safety friends... Search Ohms law - etc... and when in doubt ask. I have a Chi you clone also -- am waiting for money to get a good RDA, batteries and charger... I love the Evods and ptank 2's .... right now am playing around with kayfuns -- tasty -- and satisfying. good luck

Right now I've vaping lemon square & mojito from my awesome local b&m store, Freedomsmokeusa.com. Bought a bottle of their cheesecake fantasy & am
dying to use it. I need more tanks lol! Cheesecake is my favorite desert.

Dripping is reportedly the way to go for flavor.

Congrats Vapz1, you smell so much better. I can smell you from here ;)

I tried switching to a blu a couple years ago and it just wasn't good enough. Two months ago I bought an EVOD starter kit, made the transition over the course of a month, and at the beginning of March I made the switch for good. No more analogs. I'd start out with a regulated mod first while building coils for the first time.
Like an mvp2. It also helps to be able to read ohms live while vaping.

I have a cheap multimeter. I know the resistance readout might be slightly off but I think it should be close enough.

I've been using a multimeter. It works. Just found out you have to touch the probs together to check the meter resistance and subract it from the reading to get the actual coil resistance. I've been frying wicks left and right! LOL

And yes my wife says I smell great! Plus, Not having to go outside every 15 mins!

I wish I could figure out how to wrap the perfect 1.8 or 2.2 coil for these atomizers. Takes a little while and I can seem to get over an Ohm. Even with a 12 wrap Nano coil with 28g Kanthal....which btw is very tough to fit in that small space. Any tips? I'm using a paper clip to wrap...tried 3/64 and 5/64" drill bit. Thinking maybe I need 30g Kanthal?

Yup; 28 gauge is big and often used on proper rebuildables.
For small coil heads, 30 and 32 gauge is used.

30 ga will take fewer wraps so may be able to fit it better. You could also try something with a larger diameter to wrap on which will make fewer coils. I just made my first 1.25 coil with 28 ga 12 wraps on a 1.5 mm Allen key.

+1
I use 30 ga and wrap it on a wooden toothpick, not sure the exact mm or inches, but it works out to 1.8-2.2Ω very easily....:2cool:

Yeah, I'm not going to aim very low with the resistance, at least until I have more experience building coils. 1.2-1.5 ohms sounds great and should draw well under the 10A rating of the fuse I ordered. I really have taken the leaking batteries stories seriously. I may also consider a regulated setup if I have trouble with the mechanical.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. This is great information to supplement all my post searching. I'll pick up some 28 and 30 gauge and build a bunch of practice coils at different diameters and # of wraps to test with the multimeter before I throw anything on the trident. Cheers!

I ditched analogs 20 days ago and haven't looked back. Don't miss 'em, don't need' em. I'm rocking a cinnamon menthol blend from b&m Thunder Vapors in OKC (go Thunder!) and enjoying my lack of cough, sense of smell and fatter wallet.

23 days for me, fellow Thunder fan. Unfortunately, the wallet isn't fatter yet. But, now I believe I am adequately equipped.

Someone sent me to this calculator with one of my threads. Click on the paper clip up top. Put in requested info and it will tell you how many wraps u need. Save some wire.
