Hey folks. I'm new to this forum and fairly new to vaping. I quit once with an e cig but found myself with analogs in no time. This time I'm determined. I'm 4 days without a cigarette and loving it. Got a couple simple set ups, some good juice, and am vaping at a level 20 nicotine. My question is this. How do you deal with especially intense cravings, such as when you're drinking. So far I've done well, but I really wanna kick the habit completely this time, and truthfully enjoy vaping more. Also, I moved from New Mexico, which had amazing vaping shops, to St. Paul Minnesota. I'm venturing out into the cities tomorrow to try and find a mom and pops shop with good liquids. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi

Tell us more. First, how much were you smoking? There is the possibility you need a higher nic level than 20 mg. To deal with cravings, in the most basic sense you either vape more or need a higher nic level.

Also, what setup are you using this time?

The beauty of e-cigs is the flexibility. Some times it just takes a little tweaking to find the right nic level or a needed change in hardware to make this all work better for you.

Well first off welcome to ECF, there's more information here than you can absorb in a lifetime.

As for the cravings, my only suggestion would be to get a tank with some higher nic ready for those times when you know your going to be in a situation where the desire is higher ie. having a drink after work.

Now are you crazy (<sarcasm), going out in Minnesota tomorrow looking for a vape shop?? Dress warm and avoid metal drip tips!!

The best thing i can tell you is try a few different setups untill you find something that works for you. Some seem to be good with a simple Ego setup while others use a high amp, sub-Ohming mod producing huge clouds of vapor. To each their own, but stick with it. Its definatley worth it. Keep asking questions, someone here can answer them, and welcome!

Congrats on quitting smoking! You can do it. I'd agree with the above poster to get a higher nic level when you experience a strong craving. Just keep some on hand for when you know you'll be out drinking. I was worried at first, being around other smokers at the bar or out with friends, but it was easier with time and practice.

Hello and Welcome! Congrats on kicking the smokes. I got pretty lucky...I quit drinking 9 years ago. Cigarettes made me cough and left me short of breath. Drinking made me throw up and left me short of cash due to all the bail money. I'll relate it to drinking my coffee in the morning. I was sure a vape wouldn't accomplish what a Marlboro could do with my first cup of coffee in the morning. I found a device that worked really well for me, a juice I really enjoyed and I sat on the couch with my coffee and my PV one morning....instead of in the garage with a smoke. It was wonderful. I haven't looked back. You'll be fine, stick with us.

I plan on getting new juice tomorrow and probably a different atomizer. Any suggestions for something cheap as far as atomizers go?

Now your going to open an can of worms, there are as many opinions about atomizers as there are members on here. I would strongly suggest finding a well stocked, clean and friendly local vape shop then ask them what they're using. That's the fast and easy route, if you get what they use then they can help you hands-on to get it working to it's greatest potential.

Personally I'm fond of both the Kanger ProTank 2 AND the Iclear 30S. But with that being said, I have a suitcase full of atomizers however my go-to that I'm using as I write this is in fact a ProTank 2.

Hey there.
Yesterday made 3 weeks smoke free after 25 years of smoking a pack of menthols a day. Before vaping, I attempted and failed to quit 8 times. What I found helped me more than anything else was to not change my habits. I still take smoke breaks while at work, I just vape instead. Also, keep saying to yourself: I'll try this without a cigarette for anything that required a cigarette. After doing whatever it is without a cigarette, acknowledge it to yourself. Say "if I'm okay after doing that without a cigarette, I'll be okay after the next thing too". Hope this helps in some way. If I can, anyone can.

What is the ACTUAL point of variable voltage batteries. What is the benefit?
The largest single benefit, IMO is that the output to the atomizer is relatively steady from a full battery to end of battery. They use the magic of electrons to pump the voltage up to somewhere between 4.3 and 6.0 (depends on model) then by pulsing it many times per second the Average output is what you have selected like 3.8.

Beyond that, you can adjust the voltage/wattage to fine tune your atomizer to get the best flavor, throat hit, vapor production.

Though not necessary they do make a big difference. An Itaste VV V.3 is an EXCELLENT first VV/VW mod and cost/benefit puts it near the top.

im sure someone ia going to chime in on this as i have very little experience with them but the batts are not variable, its the mod that is variable, and this opens up a whole diff world of adjustment to fine tune with

I am also fairly new to vaping and am still learning and playing, but variable voltage changes the way the juice tastes by burning at different temps. They are the way to go, it doesn't matter if it is a twist of sorts or a MVP they work the same as I can tell.
A "Twist" style mod is a variable voltage device but barely better than an unregulated Ego battery. For just a few dollars more there are several options for VV/VW that allow much more accuracy (digital readout) and more flexibility for checking resistance of coils etc. And no, checking resistance isn't just for people rebuilding coils, I check my Iclear 30S coils every time I hit the fire button because more often than not they just start going up in resistance instead of just failing.

The Twist stlye Ego, MVP and Itaste VV are kind of variable voltage batteries since they hold a non-user-replaceable battery so the term Variable Voltage Battery although a little ambiguous can be applied to these types of devices.
