So, as stated, I'm new to the e-cig scene. I hauled off and bought a Premium Electronic Cigarette starter kit (what you guys call an 'analog lookalike' I guess?), and have only been using it for a few days.

Anyway, I'm somewhat satisfied with it. The taste is okay, battery gets me through most of the day. But now I'm noticing an awful burnt taste, sometimes after using a cart for awhile (which from what I understand means throw it out), and then randomly a brand new one tastes bad right from the start.

Did I pick a bad brand? Or are all cartomizers hit or miss like this?

When you taste that chemical burnt taste that means the carto is empty and needs to be refilled. Cartos are advertsied as disposable but I have some that have been in use for over 5 months. If you bought one from a retail outlet it probably isn't your best value. You need to find out what kind of cartomizer it uses and hope you can buy more from another supplier usually. There's TONS of credible and quality vendors listed here on the forums.

I just popped over to Premium E Cigs and they seem to be priced a bit high. It LOOKS like a standard 808 model of some kind. The good news is if thats the case you can order refill cartos and blank cartos to fill yourself a bit cheaper and probably a little higher quality. I tend to buy blank cartos and fill them from juice I like from a select couple of vendors

So I imagine I probably jumped into this too quickly and didn't shop around enough.

Is there a certain model or something I should try out?

Me Again. You've only been using this a few days. Is there a warranty or guarantee where you can return the products for a refund?

What you use, and what we recommend depends on how much you smoke, if you want a PV to look like a cigarette, etc. There are many people here who use and love the 808 models. Another popular model is the 510.

I use the 510's. They come in small batteries and large batteries. The general rule is the smaller the battery, the shorter the battery life and the more time on the charger. The eGo & Riva brand 510's have batteries that last anywhere from 4 hrs to all day, depending on how much you vape.

Has this helped you or confused you? = LOL

Does it use carts or cartomizers? two different things

3-piece ecig = battery+atomizer+cartridge (aka cart)
2-piece ecig = battery+cartomizer (aka carto)

cart - has enough juice for 2-5 cigs worth then you start burning the stuffing or atty wick and possibly straining the atty unless you buy more juice and refill it (may hold less if a super-mini)

carto - has about twice as much juice but if you run it dry you could singe the internal stuffing and train the atomizer. If your vendor did not cripple them for refilling then you should be able to add more juice. Rebranders like to do things like sell cartos with harder-to-remove hard caps or even glued in caps. And not all cartos can be filled by the alternate method of forcing juice in with a carto condom (if your vendor supplied these on the ends of fresh cartos) (may hold less if a super-mini)

Yes, they do offer a refund within 30-days, which I'm thinking I might do.

What brand are the models you recommend? I'm currently exploring the vapor4life site that Sand sent over.

I'm not a real heavy smoker, I would smoke about a half a pack a day or so. Weekends are another story, when I'm out I easily can smoke a pack or more in a single night. I would prefer something that looks similar to a real cigarette, but I'm definitely open to trying something else..

They are the ones with cartomizers. When I started tasting burnt after only a little while of using one, I actually forced one open to investigate <.< It was slightly difficult to pull the cap off, but I had no idea what I was doing. I ended up finding slightly burnt cotton inside.

Jessikwa, When you said "cart" I assumed you ment cartrage. "carto" would mean cartomizer. At least that is the way I understood it. I have been wrong before. :2cool::vapor: Good luck with vaping.
@Sand A brand new cart tasted burnt, so I can't see it being empty? Unless they rip people off over at Premium E Cigs :(

@Brag That would apply to an ecig that's atomtizer and cartridge are separate, right? Mine is the all in one deal.
