Don't rush , look around the forum , get yourself aquainted , ask a few questions , do a little searching and before you know it you;ll be answering noobs questions yourself :toast:
that's a loaded question you've asked up there , lots of successes in here .
If you're asking what to buy you'll get a ton of answers to that too , personally i bought a cigarette looking ecig and while it's done the job so far i wish , as most here , that i would have bought something with more battery strength and a bigger ejuice delivery system .
i wish i would have bought a Spinner or a Twist and probably Kanger T3 clearomisers . I'll probably make this my next purchase though .

Welcome. After aprox. 30 yrs. of a pack a day of m.m.box. I quit cigs. in a couple of days. I did'nt even really try to quit. With some good vape gear & the help of all the ecf'ers it was just too easy not to smoke. Now I am stuck vaping and ecfing! I cut down on the nic. so it's a much better place to be stuck. Best wishes.

Success story, yea I dont smoke any more. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Advice:
1. Start small, you most likely dont NEED a provari or high end mod(I have several they are nicer than an ego but I still have my ego)
2. DONT buy large bottles of e-liquid untill you know if you like using that flavor for several days in a row.
3. Regardless of what you hear no one PV is the "best" its all down to what works for you(hence start small)
4. Sometimes poop happens, HAVE BACK UPS!!!!
5. When you are able to, get to know the supplyers of your fav e-liquid and parts(tanks, cartos, mesh, wire, or whatever) in the supplyers forums.
6. Have fun with it.

I have been smoking for 25 years. I have seen several different websites offering these, as well as have seen people operating these e-cigs. I have dabbled with them, but have yet to really settle on one particular kind. All of your immediate feedback is greatly appreciated! Your advice is noted, and I will be selecting a few options in the near future!

Those above me have given good advice. I will add, drink lots of water when vaping. That headache you get may be a dehydration headache. Secondly, when I get an urge to smoke an analog, I take a few hits of 24mg nicotine and the urge leaves peacefully. BUT, if you do HAVE to have an analog, just remember those cigarettes that you did NOT smoke and keep vaping.

I personally would NOT recommend the "rebuildable clearomizers" or anything like that for starting out. They might be fine for later on (not for me, though!) but a person needs to get their feet wet first! A good cartomizer is the best was to go. Perhaps prefills at first, just to get the hang of things. A very good starter kit can be found here...Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette You can get a nice "introductory" starter kit that will work well for a long time, and it'll give you a chance to test the waters without spending a whole lot. There is time to move on to fancier bigger and better stuff later. This will give a solid foundation. Expore the site and see what they offer. There's a wide range of options there once you get into the vaping groove. Later...if you want, you can move to the 510 equipment and the fancier tanks and whatnot. But you may not feel you need to. I used the SI products for over a year very happily, and still use the X2s some of the time, even though I mostly now use mods or APVs.

There's a sale right now with the coupon code MERRYVOLT that will give you 20% off!

Welcome...im a noob too only 4 weeks in but loving my new and improved habit. Didn't think I would have quit analogs in such a short time but I am now just over a week analog free. With that said. Here are some of my IMOs

1. If you have a local outfit that you can go touch feel and try things out, I would definitely check them out. I was lucky enough to have one close and super helpful associates.

2. Check out the link at the very top of this forum 'Info Zone' Tons of great info for us newbies. Even down to how to take a drag on a PV. My personal experience was much more pleasant after that. Really good place to start your journey.

3. As for setup. I'm sure you know you could easily drop a few bones in a second with this stuff. I managed not to succumb to the money magnet.
-I started with 1 Ego style battery, a charger, a clearo and one bottle/flavor of ejuice. That set me back only 50 bucks.
But I learned a quick lesson... 2nd battery is must and you'll see that reco'd on this forum too. So I went back to my spot and picked up a smaller battery for a back up plus a couple more juices and clearos. I picked up the clearos so I could have my other juices ready to go when I needed a change and I personally switch between the three different juices i have multiple times during the day. So in the first week I spent just a tad bit over 100 bucks but haven't spent another penny yet. Of course that will happen when I need more juice and Im just about there.
I could probably spend more money to get better MODs but right now as I am just getting started with my habit, I'm keeping it simple. A Provari is definately on the horizon but not yet.=)

Hope that helps - Good luck on your journey.

If you want a success story, I'm living it. I was a smoker for over 3/4 of my life and enjoyed every cigarette I smoked. I swore for years that I'd quit the day after I had a cancerous lung removed but not till then as I enjoyed it. I had thought about trying the electronic cigarettes, not to quit, but to be able to get my nicotine in places where smoking wasn't allowed, but was put off by the starter kits price tags of <$50. As the only smoker in my family I took a lot of gruff. As the only smoker in the office of the company I work at I took a lot of gruff. Lol, basically I lived on nicotine and gruff for a loooong time. My kid sister called me one day to ask if I'd ever thought about switching from analogs to electronic cigarettes and I said I had but the price tag always scared me off. I wasn't going to spend upwards of $50 for something that might or might not help me cut down. The reason she had asked was that she had a groupon for the v2 kit for $25 and said she'd buy it for me if I would try it so I said 'sure'. I wanted to quit but wouldn't admit that as I didn't (still don't) like giving into pressure, but old her if she got it for me I'd see if it could help me cut down. When it finally came I had about a pack-a pack and a half of camels left so I smoked a camel or 2 in the morning, vaped all day and night and then had a camel or 2 before bed. I liked the vaping and when that last camel was smoked after my breakfast on July 28th 2012 it was the last cigarette I've smoked. When I went to work that monday my boss (owner of the company) came into my area and started .....ing at my coworker that I'd had a week off and now I'm late for my 1st day back. While he ranted she kept turning her head to look from him to me until he realized that I was sitting right there. His excuse was that he couldn't 'smell me'. when I told him I had quit smoking and become a 'vaper' he was ecstatic. I vape openly and proudly in bars, restaurants, my parents house (my mom loves the smell of my vapor when I vape hhv's pirates booty), my sisters house, grocery stores, malls and pretty much anywhere else I happen to be. My mom had MAJOR back surgery (4 discs replaced) and I found out I could vape in the hospital, (Barrows Neurological Institute inside St. Josephs in Phx, AZ). While I've lowered my nicotine I vape waaay more than I ever smoked but don't care. I can breathe.

Anyway, you asked for a success story and I'm it.

Success stories...well Semi success I can post about.

I purchased a few disposables a little over a year ago, then a very very bad starter kit (don't recall the name), ramped up my vaping as I weaned myself off of cigarettes. Last January I found another and somewhat better brand of cig-look-a-like pen style starter kits, following the advice here, "Have backups" (since the batteries die so quickly in these especially this is crucial!) I bought 3 of them and quit smoking all together that month. That lasted until mid March, my wife still smoked occasionally and had hers around (Marlb lights) so I had one. Then 2 the next day. Then 3 or 4. Then when her pack was gone I bought her a new one and my own pack of my menthols. So I fell off the wagon, still vaped on occasion, but mostly smoked. Then I bought a Provari, quit smoking again around April, became obsessed with new gear, tanks, cartos, more batteries, found a vape shop in my hometown of Indy while visiting the family, became an "enthusiast," again for a few months. Bought a bunch of flavors from a few different vendors (BMV mostly, NLV, and ECX as well). Fell off the wagon again around August and was smoking again. Still vaping on occasion like before, but mostly smoking. Then about a month ago, I got serious about vaping again and ordered some juices from highly touted vendors like HHV (NLV I still had bounty hunter which I think is ok, but gets a lot of rave reviews), as well as my now well-steeped juices from before, some I still really like (peppermint, vanilla mint, peach, cherry ice, BH is ok, etc), some improved, and many, many did not and are still god-awful (Morley, coffe n cream, cherry vanilla swirl...yech). After getting my two HHV sampler packs, yep, full blown enthusiast again, now with an obsession instead of for gear (I mean really with 4 or 5 pen styles, a Provari, tanks, cartos, etc from before, who needs anything else? lol), totally obsessed with trying and accumulating juices. Gandalf .... Heavenly Tobacco, Dark horse, oompa, angel's kiss, hunstman, so many juices, so little time. Hmm maybe I SHOULD get a LT or something new so I can double fist and vape several flavors at once....

Back on the wagon, and I hope for good this time. Wife is quitting soon as well, so less temptation will make it easier. I hope. Wish me luck, and good luck to you all!

Vape on!

if you can find a ECig store around you go there and try before you buy. Start simple and with 2-3 juices at first. your taste will change. Order some new stuff each week and be sure you don't run out. Get variable voltage you may not understand why but in a week or two you will. Basicly Variable Volt will let you change the taste of your Vape by adjusting the voltage. You dont need a math degree to do this your tounge will tell you. hang out here alot read posts and learn. Enjoy have fun!

I was able to find a local place based on all of your advices. NextSmoke is really close to my house (which is awesome). They seem like a brand new company...BUT they allowed me to come in and touch and feel what they had to offer. Really nice folks. So far I have done both analog and ecig...WOW does the taste really discount me from touching analog...Keep you posted!

Welcome my friend. The biggest newbie mistake I made was buying e-cig stuff without researching it first. Take your time and read a lot about the product you're interested in before you actually pay for it. There are a lot of resources here on this site. I'm still pretty new as well but If you need something just ask me and hopefully I can help you. Good luck!:toast:
