switched to vaping almost a month ago after 30yrs of tobacco use...
unfortunately, i am having difficulties with my equipment.
searched to forum & havent found anyone with my same issues:

Battery:
got either a vision spinner or smoktek 1300mah 3.2-4.8 variable battery (looks like the smoketeck but says Spinner 1300mah on bottom)
it worked great for 3 weeks- worked all day, charged at night - then all of a sudden it will only stay charged for about 3 hours! did i mess up the battery memory, or did i get a dud?

Tank: Protank 2
After a day with a new coil, i need to puff like i am lighting a cigar to get a decent pull. So, i have been changing the coil every week, which seems exessive from what i have read here. I tried the removing the top wick which didnt make it last any longer.

I am getting my juice from the store that i purchased this set up (VaVape-Myrtle Beach) - Was told that the battery should last years and easily hold a charge all day? Was told the coils should be lasting a month or so...

sorry for the long intro post, but i really want to stay of the analogs...but this is a lot of work to keep it up and running...

Peculiar
Sometimes those batteries will short out if there is juice in the connection. After 3 weeks your probably about ready for an upgrade anyways. You can get a decent PV for around $50. Something like the Vamo or Smoketech SId for a tube mod. ITaste VV will be about the same size as your Spinner. You might also like to try out a box mod, I just picked up my cousin a Itaste MVP for her birthday and she can vape for days on it. You should also pick up a back up battery too, I carry an Ego Evod combo for mine. I enjoy the Reo with a Reomizer myself, it's about the only thing I vape everything else just collects dust.

As for coils, I like to rebuild my own but, you should have a multimeter or a protected device with an ohm reading. Batteries lasting for years is not a reality. Get on line and do some research, the brick and mortars where I live don't really have much worth buying in my opinion. YouTube has lots of videos on devices and how to build coils.

Good luck on your vaping adventure.

Rinsing them is easy. Just unscrew it. The piece that holds the wicks down pops right out if you wiggle it a bit. Then rinse in hot water, dry it, and put it back together.

As for the battery, I'd call the people you bought it from and see if you can get it replaced. It shouldn't die that fast. When you get the new one, try to remember to charge it regularly rather than letting it drain all the way before recharging. Lithium batteries don't suffer from memory issues, but they do degrade if you discharge them too far. The usual result is that they won't hold a charge as long.

Head rinsing is easy. Just unscrew it from the PT2 base, put it in the bottom of a measuring cup (2 cup, or big mixing bowl), and put it under the hottest tap water you can give to it. Let the water run for a few minutes, then set the bowl aside to let the head soak for a while.

About 30 minutes later (longer is fine), take it out. Look closely at the wick ends. If they are still dark and gunky, you can either rinse it again or you can try replacing the two flavor wicks laying across the top of the coil.

Google Protank coil rebuild for a bunch of YouTube videos for how to remove the stem and get to the flavor wicks. You can replace them with anything that's absorbent. Cotton from a cotton ball. Cotton cheesecloth. What have you.

As for the battery life, well... Holding a charge for only three hours is problematic. That's typically a good battery, but at this stage of its life, it should be holding a charge longer, regardless of what resistance the coils.

Do you have a backup battery? See if that Vape Store will exchange it, or give you store credit. And if they do, thank them by picking up another one as a backup. You should also plan to get something to backup the PT2.

awesome advice...thanks...
upgrade is coming a littler earlier than expected...but welcomed. i will need to search this site for what and where.

i am going to try and get battery replaced. (luckily i bought my son a $20 set up which i have commandeered until i can figure out what to get next. I obviously ran the battery completely out everyday for 3 weeks...oops...should of came with instructions or a word from the seller...

will do the rinsing and I have been dry burning everyother day.

I could probable rewind these coils, but a 5 pack was 5 bucks...
thanks again everyone.

This may be due to gunk or fluid build up on your battery. Clean the inside of the top of your battery with a q-tip. If any build up got onto your charger, then your charger won't be able to fully charge your battery so you may need a new charger. With the ProTank, take your coil off and clean the base with a q-tip (where your coil sits). Hope this helps!

Darker thicker juices tend to clog coils faster try rinsing the head out every tank or two. As for the battery. Using lower resistance heads will kill your battery faster l. So if you switched to 1.8 heads from a 2.8 ohm head your battery will die faster

I'm not so sure this is correct. Higher resistance requires higher voltage, more current, more voltage drop to fire the coil. I use 1.8 or lower on all my devices and get full day's use on a 1300mah spinner. Maybe I'm mistaken. Either way, the OP should be getting more than a few hours on a 1300mah PV.

Having said that, many folks have had problems with Spinners and their chargers. EGO chargers and the correct Spinner charger look identical, but EGO chargers dont work as well on them. I went through 3 different chargers (glad they're cheap) before finding the right one. Haven't had a problem with my spinners since. Sadly, there's no identifying differences so I can't help with a part number or anything, other than it should not be an "EGO" charger. I ordered these two from FastTech, and the 1st one has worked so well, I dont even know if the 2nd one works. Haven't needed it.

As for the heads, actually, a week is about average for the heads, depending on the juice. When folks have heads that last for weeks, they usually mean total lifespan, with dry burns and cleaning in between a couple tank fulls.
I dont buy that a spinner should last "years", or that coils should last a "month or so". A couple weeks sure, but they need to be dry burned and cleaned.

I upgraded from the ego -v to a Smoktech SID - what difference in vaping ! buy a couple of AW IMR's or Panasonic 18650's and a "good" charger
Buying from a Chinese website will take t-i-m-e to get it to your door.
just query this site or google on the vendors, a lot of vendors here are really great. This is where I would start from.
