Hey everyone! I started smoking cigarettes about 5-6 years ago. I have been interested in trying an e-cig for a while now, but lack of research always kept me from buying a disposable unit at the gas station from brands I had never heard of. A week back a good friend of mine brought over his to let me try and I ended up buying it from him. By "it" I mean pretty much his whole kit. Right now I have a Krave 301 and 1001 battery with charger, case, and a handful of 14mg menthol cartridges. He was a light smoker and the Krave helped him quit.

It’s been a week now and the money I’ve saved on cigarettes has already paid off my investment and then some. With that being said, I haven’t quit smoking completely. My 7 pack/week habit has dropped down to 1.5. I love vaping, but the Krave’s throat hit, nicotine content, and flavor all fell just a little short of what could be a full time Marlboro Smooth replacement.

Finally I did my research and decided not to prolong the inevitable. I ordered the Halo G6 starter kit along with a couple mini tanks. To get me started I chose the subzero, mystic, and gourmet sampler on their site, which all should arrive by tomorrow. Very excited to be an ex-smoker soon and help contribute to the forum!:D

^^ RETURN IT!!!

For $50 bucks you could get a real e-cigarette!!! Kanger eVod Kit, Cool Fire 1, ProTank Starter Kit, Smoktech SiD.

The thing is the e-cig from Halo is a rebranded V2 basically. Only WORTH 5 OR 6 DOLLARS!

As far as e-Liquid goes there are so many options that will smoke halo out the water. Roar Vapor, Skrachmo's e-Juice, Five Pawns, Mt Baker Vaper, Liquid Elements, Ruthless, Uncle Junks.

Welcome MosinMan. Congratulations on your decision to quit. With the information here and the great people, your chances of success are very good. I gave up a 40 year habit thanks to this forum and it's members. My suggestion is to read lots and ask questions. It can be pretty overwhelming at first, but it does get easier fairly quick.

Is your name the same as the military rifle ?

I have the G6 and mini tanks and it is perfectly fine. If you get all hooked into bigger and better as time goes on, that is also fine. I think it all depends on what you want. I wanted to quit smoking and have something to put in my mouth that dispenses nicotine and I also wanted to be able to try different flavors. The G6 mini has worked well for both things. Halo has a forum that is part of this huge forum--put Halo in the search engine and it will come up for you (Halo U.S or something like that).

Thank you and I agree totally! I personally have no problem getting my nicotine fix in the form of Belgian Cocoa.

I find the whole Halo thing interesting. To my knowledge we don't have them in the UK.

To me (not really knowing) the Triton system seems a good place to start. Although I do like to remind users that the KR808 thread is kind of limiting. (It was for me anyway, but that's another story....like I said...I am UK). It seems good and people seem to love it.

BUT, curiously, the mini cig-a-like system (G6) is the same technology as I used in my quit attempt. (Unless I am wrong, the batteries and cartomizers are the same manufacturer as a UK brand).

I never managed to quit smoking using this sort of kit. I was never a heavy smoker (not even in my 20s) averaging around 10-15mg a day.

If Halo is good (we know the liquids are very good as well) then go in on the stronger nicotine liquid. I used 24mg, and even with that, I didn't do so well.

For me, it's about getting enough nicotine to be satisfied. One cartomizer is not a lot of nicotine....

I'm not a believer in the small form factor e-cigs either. I tried with the gas station cigs. They were junk. I tried with Greensmoke, which is similar to the V2 or Blu, or whatever. Their output is simply too low to get enough throat hit for me.

I wasn't able to fully quit until I got into the 3.4v+ area, like with eGo type batteries. I didn't stick with those, and currently smoke a 6v VV/VW PV. I think the eGo/510 style works best to quit smoking.

EVOD has some nice stuff out. They feel better than the eGo button, and are a decent package. I hear they actually put out 3.7v, which is perfect for a 1.8ohm atty. I think most people would do well with a protank or MT3 on an EVOD 900mAh setup.

Fact is, you'll NEVER replicate the exact feel of smoking. If you're expecting to do that, you'll never quit smoking. If you're using it as smoking cessation, you have to:
1. WANT to quit smoking
2. Recognize that vaping is the best first step
3. Follow through with it and stop smoking analogs altogether for a few weeks

It's what I did, and you couldn't force me to smoke an analog now, 3 years later.

Sure, it's different, but at least right now they haven't proven it'll kill you, right?

One day they may find out that vaping is bad for you, but they KNOW smoking is. I may die of something caused by vaping, but if it isn't lung cancer, I'm better off, in my opinion. I've seen death due to lung cancer, and that's not how I want to go.

Good luck with quitting man. I know it's tough, but I know you'll be glad you did when it's all over. I know I was.

What I did was make sure I had my kit set up and ready to go. I made sure my last cigarette was that night, so no cigs were left in the house when I went to sleep. When I woke up I was craving hard for my nic fix and went straight to the kit and vaped away. I think that was the most important step, getting over that morning fix. Haven't looked back since.

Well thanks again everyone. I'm getting great input. The Krave I'm using now feels like it's 80% there for me. I thought at first I could quit by buying the 18 mg cartridges that they offer, but decided the Halo would leave me with more options as far as juice goes and save me money down the road.

The G6 should be in tomorrow, so I told myself that the pack of cigarettes I have now will be the last I smoke. :)

It will save you money. Whether you can really quit straight off with a G6 is less of a guarantee.
Some can, some can't.

To each his own I guess. I went with the majority vote, and there were just too many testimonials of people quitting with their Halo. I may go with a larger unit in the future, but I still can't see myself using one outside of the house.

EDIT: Not to mention I respect a company who has good web developers. :p

Halo is a good set up! I read that your smoke of choice is/was marolboro smooth (I loved that brand too) try Halo Mystic. It reminds me a lot of maroboro smooth. yeah, I can't spell worth a hoot - lol.
