Hi all,

I'm JohanBroad and I bought my first vape on January 20th, 2015. I switched over from Camel non-filters and the occasional Djarum Special(until they were banned!). I went through 3 packs of camels a week for about 25 years. I did try to quit, but I'd usually find myself buying a pack after a month or so.

I looked into vaping about a year ago, but I was not impressed with the options available at the time. I didn't like the flavor or consistency of the juices, and the hardware seemed a bit kludgy.

However, after another year, I found myself truly resenting everything about cigarettes. I was sick of the smell and taste, I hated wasting the money, was sick of having to step outside when I wanted a smoke, and I really didn't like the way they made me feel.

I decided to give it another look. I started doing research and bugging the local shops with questions.

What a difference a year can make! The hardware has gotten better, and the juices have improved enormously in both flavor and consistency.

After a fair bit of research, I decided not to get the "basic starter kit" that seemed to be in every smoke shop, gift store, and vape shop in town. I went with this because I didn't want to have to upgrade from the starter kit a month later, and find that I wasted the money on the starter kit.

I gave myself a budget of around $100, and after a lot more searching and price comparison, I went to an excellent local vape shop, and wound up getting a Smok 1300MaH VV Ego Winder Battery, and a Smok Tech Dual Coil, Adjustable Airflow Micro ADC with a Pyrex tank.
I also picked up a lovely sweet tobacco flavored juice. I also got the charger, a case, and extra coil. I'm probably going to get another micro adc (or two) for different flavors.
I spent just under $115.00 for everything, which is about $25.00 over what I would have spent on cigarettes in a month.

The difference in cost over time is amazing as well; my Camels usually cost about $7.50 (-/+) a pack, and I'd go though three packs a week. This is about $22.50 to $25.00 a week (depending on where I bought them). I bought a 20 ml bottle of juice for $15.00, and I haven't even gone through my first tank yet.

I am also quite excited about all of the flavors available out there, I picked up a Root Beer Float flavor, and I am on the hunt for a Juice that tastes like the Sampoerna Xtra cloves I loved when I still went clubbing. It's hard to find, because there's not much demand for that flavor here.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I am looking forward to a non-smoking life!

Welcome to ECF!!! Hope you can stay off the stinkies, but even cutting way back is amazing......take your own pace with it. and yes, there has been soooooo much progress in the last year and tons and tons in the last 2-3 yrs. From boge cartos and crappy clearos to really great RBA's.

I would definitely look online to find good juices. Some are cheaply made.....others are very high quality. Youtube reviews can be your friend there, but no review will beat just trying it unfortunately. But with what you were spending on smokes, you should be able to try a few juice companies and find what you like. Or you may decide you want to try DIY, making your own juice.

Anyhow, good luck!! And it's great you gave it another shot!! Glad to have you here.

Way to go! I quit analogs and started vaping about 2 to 3 months ago. I bought an e-cig in 2009 and I didn't know about all other enhancements until a friend of my wife's showed me her MVP she had at the time. Started considering it after that and finally got hooked in. It's been great so far - a fun hobby. Congrats!

Welcome!
I'm fairly new to this myself—started vaping in July of 2014, haven't touched a cigarette since. :toast:
I tried so many combinations of hardware and juice before finally finding the combinations that work best for me; ego stick batteries with Kanger T3S clearomizers gave way to protanks and MVPs, which in turn were replaced with Kayfuns, RDAs, Nautilus tanks, all sitting atop various batteries.
iSticks are my go-to for out and about. I love dripping on my Skeleton Key when I'm home.
