Just got my M601/2 (ordered the kit with both batteries) and I've noticed my automatic battery produces much more vapour and tastes a lot better than my manual battery. From perusing the forums here I find most people prefer the manual battery. Am I not holding down the button long enough or something? I notice my atomizer gets pretty hot (can feel it through the cart) on both so I don't think my battery is defective or anything. I've tried it with both my atomizers too.

I still like to use the manual battery for when I'm driving though as I'm a metal head and the double bass from my stereo tends to activate the automatic when I'm driving with tunes cranked.

Other than that, on my 5th day with no analogs, even though I really desperately want one, and I'm vaping like a madman  I might go have one and see how it is. I have medium and high nicotine juice so I'm guessing it's the additives, or possibly a mental thing with me wanting a smoke.

My first kit was from BluCigs (with auto battery), which was a major disappointment (I sent it back for a refund). I just received my first manual PV (Joye eGo) yesterday, and I like it 1000% better! The manual took a little practice, but now I have the hang of it.

From what I can tell, the trick is pushing the button about 1-2 seconds before taking a drag. This gives the atty a chance to heat up, so the drag produces more vapor.

I don't know if your model would be different.

Take a look at this thread. I've never used the M601 and know very little about it. I do know that many manual batteries (other than mods) are not that well implemented. The glaring positive exception is the 510 (as well as its big brother, the eGO). It is reliable as all get out.

And the 510 is not my favorite e-cig model. I prefer the penstyle (e.g., 801) and the KR808D-1, both of which have very good automatic batteries; the manuals, not so much. Fortunately the new Elegant (kind of an eGO for the Kr8 and 901) works like a charm ... even with my penstyle attys (which require an inexpensive adapter).

If you like the performance of the M601 autos, stick with that (and turn down the volume when you vape in the car;)).

Turn down the volume? Absolute heresy to a metalhead

I ordered a second auto battery, and a PCC, and more juice a few days ago. I could see vaping helping me cut down drastically on cigarettes, but I don't know about quitting completely. I suppose some is better than none. I'll probably just try to vape at work (outside, since I work in an office building and I'm a contractor so probably not the best idea for clients to see me blowing out plumes of smoke constantly in the office) so I don't reek like smoke when I come in.

I already do push it down a couple seconds before taking a drag, and let it go just before I'm done, and I take pretty big puffs.

I'm new here too, and have only tried the Joye eGo with manual battery. As I understand it, the auto batteries can allow juice from a flooded atomizer to leak into the battery. Also, as you pointed out, auto batteries can be triggered from loud sound, etc., so may drain faster than manual batteries. And I like having control over when the battery is activated so I can shut it off before the end of a drag.

Your manual may not be sufficiently charged; may not be making sufficient contact with the charger, etc. Or it may be defective. All e-cig stuff is consumable/disposable and will need to be replaced. It's a good idea to keep spares on hand in case something fails, which it will. Personally, I haven't read anything that would convince me to switch to auto batteries. But I've read a lot to suggest that I should have spare manual batteries.

We'll figure it out. Keep on vaping.

I'm pretty sure the battery is in working order because it seems to last awhile (half a day when I vape on it constantly) and the atty gets plenty hot like I said.

I ordered some cartomizers to see how that is, although I couldn't find the blank ones online on a store that will ship to Canada, had to grab the pre-filled ones from absoluteleyecigs.com. If I don't like the Marlboro flavour I can always rinse and leave to dry and fill up with the juice I'm using I guess.

As a side note, I ordered the "Du More Eh" juice from vapables.com and I'm really not digging it. I really do like the "Classic Tobacco" from Crystal Liquids though. It's kind of weak and not much throat hit, but it's awful tasty, almost chocolatey or something. I ordered another bottle of that but in higher nicotine

JJ, I know that you have just made an investment in a particular e-cig model (which is not that compatible with anything else) and I don't like to denigrate another vaper's PV ... but (you knew that 'but' was coming, right?), I am more concerned with a new vaper's dissatisfaction with his first vaping experience (and talking about wanting to smoke those yucky pooey analog things).

Are you aware that the M601 is far from the most popular model here on ECF? Speaking for myself, from the first day I started vaping, I have never wanted to smoke an analog. [And quitting smoking was not my primary reason for trying these things.] I attribute that primarily to the effectiveness of the models (and e-liquids) that I have been using.

I recently wrote a comparative review of the three models, which I recommend for a new vaper. [It is more good fortune than anything else that those are the three models I primarily have been using during my first year of vaping. I have tried a few others.] You may want to take a look at that review. Any one of those should provide a very satisfying vaping experience (each has different strengths).

If you (or anyone else reading this thread) are intrigued by any of them, I encourage you to PM me, so that I can provide some additional thoughts about enhanced versions of each model.

Otherwise, try different e-liquids (and/or different nicotine levels). For example, for me, I probably would have gone back to the cancer sticks if all that was available was banana flavored at 24mg strength, but give me virtually any tobacco flavor at 12mg and I am one happy vaper (which happens to be the name of a very good supplier in Canada). You may be just the opposite.

Well, I just tried smoking an analog, and it was satisfying from a craving perspective, but I smoked a little more than half before I tossed it, was absolutely disgusting.

I've read that's a pretty common experience, but I've quit and restarted after 2 years, and my first smoke didn't taste anything like that after I've been away from them, so I attribute it to something to do with PG perhaps? Hard to say, either way, I think I'll probably stick to vaping, maybe an analog here and there.

I did order the juice that I really like in a stronger nicotine level though, maybe that will help.

Also, is it just me or do the tobacco flavours basically taste like an unsmoked cigarette smells? That's not a bad thing, I actually quite enjoy it. Just thought it was odd.

I might try another model after I try the cartomizers I ordered. If I don't dig them, maybe I'll grab another one and mix things up a bit.

Auto's have many problems over time because the battery compartment is not sealed. The problem with your manual is the model you have from what I have read on several forums. A good manual will out perform any auto from what the vast majority have reported on several forums. If you try a well made mod or the 510, you will experience a significant difference.
