hey all. as an avid subscriber to several other forums i just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. my name is Ryan. Im 18 years old from baltimore maryland and I'm new to vaping. As a kid i swore i would never touch a cigarette and after two of my grandparents were taken from me due to the consequences of smoking i was sure that i never wanted to touch a cig in my life. well here i sit in my dorm room and unfortunately the stress and pressures of college have turned me into a smoker. i have now been smoking about a pack a day for 6 months. to be honest i love it. i love smoking socially with my friends, its a great time killer and an excuse to go outside and enjoy campus. but I'm at the point now where i want to quit. i can already feel negative health effects from smoking. I've tried about 5 times to quit cold turkey and tried to cut back a few times but every morning i give into the temptation to go grab a pack of marlboro reds and start my day off with a nice nicotine buzz. a few of my friends have been successful in quitting smoking through the use of vaping so i want to give it a shot. not to mention vaping is extremely fun and can taste amazing. so i just wanted some of the veterans on here to help me out with getting started. i have 50 bucks that i have set aside to start my new vaping hobby. so my first question is broad. i understand that 50 bucks won't get me the mercedes benz of e-cigs but i think its a good place to start and upgrades/mods can be worried about later. I've been looking at different websites and honestly i don't see much difference between brands. so i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what a good starter brand is. i want something reliable that won't break or need repairing after a week. any good websistes to get such brands from would be a great help. and i also want to know what you guys think is the best type of e cig. i honestly know almost nothing about them right now but I've been hearing things like drip tips and atomizers idk what any of this means so a little clarification would be great. and lastly i was wondering what brand liquid you guys buy and where you get it from. i have been looking into various starter kits that websites offer but again i don't know which brands are reliable. thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out. i look forward to learning a lot from this forum and hopefully this will help me be a healthier individual. thanks again.:D

My first kit was from Green Smoke for about $24 at a local shop. Came with one battery, a USB charger and 2 cartos at 18 mg. The flavor was good, but the cartos can't be refilled. That quickly became expensive at $17 for a 5 pack.

I went with the Halo G6 starter kit for $44.95. It's a cig-alike. 2 batteries, USB charger, wall charger and 5 pre-filled, refillable Cartomizers in a nice case. You can get sample sizes to try their flavors for $5.99, and mini-tanks for $3.99 - much better vape and flavor than the cartos! I got a manual battery, which became my favorite!

For cig like flavor, their Torque56 is the closest I've found. The vape is warm, with a great throat hit. Halo has a point reward system, so every purchase and review on their site gets you closer to a free bottle of e-juice.

It's a good way to start. Then, you can move up to their Triton kit. :vapor:

I would stick to an eGo style e-cig because they are more universal in use when it comes to toppers. With the Halo's you'll be stuck with that brand only. Evods and eGo's will allow you to use pretty much anything out there. MountBakerVaper is a good juice company, I'd recommend at least 1 flavor shot starting out since you're new to this. I'd try their sampler so you can get an idea of their flavors without investing heavily. I like them. I think I spent a lil' over $12 for the sampler. Good luck and let us know how ya do!

An eGo and Protank II mini will get you started but asking for something reliable at your price range will be hit or miss. IMO, buying from Ebay or Craigslist is a mixed bag and you could get someone's year old battery that doesn't charge fully anymore or a Protank that leaks due to a chip in the glass and you may just end up being frustrated.

It is a good starting point but you will want to save up some cheese and buy some more stuff as soon as you can.....namely an extra battery first. If you go with the PTII mini, get at least one extra coil......it won't break the bank. An Kanger EVOD instead of the PTII mini may also be a good choice. Then when you save some more money and have bought your battery, buy some more coils and try some different juice.

There is a "DECENT" B&M in Glen Burnie called Mean Street. Look for the guy with the beard and tattoos. He is really the only one in there that knows what he is talking about. They have some things you can look at and hold and buy if you want.........or buy it online and wait for it for less money.

Also a new member. Had a thread but it dissapeared. But I took it as it being a new member.

Anywho. Has anyone used a G-hit vaporizer? I found a brand new inside my hotel room in Vegas and not sure if it'll work or how to turn it on. When I went to plug it in to charge it blinked red while it charged. I am not sure if it's charging or it means something else.

I know it's nothing special like a mod or anything, that it's a cheap generic one. I do plan on getting something else later. But will cross that bridge later

I've been happy with an Ego-Ctwist under an iClear 16 tank and juices from SmokingRevolution e-cig but am now looking to learn to mix my own. Love orange flavors and some black cherry, but too much black cherry can taste like cough syrup. I'm always open to suggestions for trustworthy juices, so.... (analog-free here for 18 weeks and lovin' it after 40 years of abuse) Cheers!
