Hello all!!! My name is Jon I am 24 years old I am married and I am a smoker, kinda of, and so is my wife (Nikki). Now I haven't smoked a cigarette in 15 days (go me!) But honestly I miss smoking. I stopped smoking because of the health issues. Ive been smoking for 8 and a half years and I can feel the detrimental effects its had my body and I hate myself for ever starting in the first place!

Now I have used e-cigs once or twice. A regular customer of mine at work uses them and shes let me use them when we step outside to have a cigarette together. I believe she uses modded BluCigs but i am not 100% on that. Now I have read the forums and read about Volcanos and BluCigs and other products and I just cannot decided where to start.

My wife and I would really like to start vaping to save some money and not inhale 10000 different chemcials when we smoke. But Im not sure where to start. I have heard good and bad things about several different producst. Originially I was going to buy a BluCig starter kit but Im not sure if I should after reading about them.

Any suggestion on what we should start with?? I just dont want to waste my time and money on a prodcut that isnt fantastic!! Any help would be very very fantastic!

Hello and welcome to the forums! :)

There is so much information here about vaping and e-cigs and it can be overwhelming! There are also so many of us that have different favorites and recommendations. SO - FWIW...

I think a 510 with manual batteries is a great place to start. I spent more than a month reading the boards here and researching before I placed my first order. I'm glad I decided on the 510 because I love what it delivers.

A 510 starter kit that comes with 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, battery charger and 5 pre-filled cartridges costs $35.00 at: Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. They ship super-fast and are quick to respond if you ever have any questions, even while you are trying to make a decision.

It's a versatile e-cig, filling the cartridges with the e-liquid of your choice is simple and there are so many suppliers that sell the spare parts and accessories.

If you started out with just one starter kit, you and your wife would be able to give it a try for minimal cost. Seeing that you are both really interested in vaping as an alternative to smoking I'd recommend a starter kit for each of you. That would enable you both to always have a battery charging while you were using one.

I don't know much about the Blu. I have seen people here that are happy with it. I think there are more people that would steer you toward a 510 though.

There is a lot of information in the review section of the forums, read as much as you can about e-cigs and vaping and keep posting with any questions. You landed in a really friendly, welcoming and supportive place.

I think vaping is awesome - my 510 enabled me to quit smoking the day I got it. It's a lot of fun as well!

Good Luck!

Hi Jon, and welcome! I second Remie's suggestion of the 510 as a great starter model. Of course, there are a number of things to consider: do you care if it looks like a tobacco cigarette? Do you mind refilling? battery life?

Here's a link where you can get a little info on a ton of models:
link

I have a Blu and I like it because it's the size of an analog, the atty doesn't run very hot so flavors have high fidelity, and the pcc is convenient when you head out. That being said, the cart/exposed atty system as it comes in the box doesn't wick very well so if you try to take drags as often as you would while smoking a cigarette, you'll be disappointed after the first few. With the 510 and PTB material this is not the case. The drawbacks to me for the 510 are that the PCC doesn't hold a fully assembled unit, and that it's more the size of a 100's cigarette. Overall, as cool as the blu and accessories look, I probably would have been happier getting a 510 as my first kit instead (though I don't mind having both to switch between). Whatever you end up getting, happy vaping and good luck to both of you making the switch/cutting back from the analogs!

There is an initial investment regardless of what you start with. Different people are fans of different devices. I personally started with something called the Firelight. It looks and feels like a cigarette but it didn't put out enough vapor and throat hit for me. I thought the fact that it looked like a cigarette would do it for me but it didn't. After reading the boards and watching tons of video reviews I ended up buying the BB from altsmoke.com. It doesn't look like a cigarette at all but it packs a punch and produces LOTS of vapor and is still small enough to carry in your pocket. My initial investment for the BB was $150.. that included the BB itself, cartridges, their rechargeable batteries, the battery charger, an adapter, and 2 atomizers. The Firelight that I bought was $50 and it came with 2 e-cigs, 2 atomizers, and 10 cartridges and a couple of cables to charge with. But again it didn't do it for me. What it did do was introduce me to vaping and encouraged me to get a more substantial unit. I don't know what your budget is but if you are serious about vaping I would encourage you to get a substantial device up front and not dilly dally around with the cigarette looking devices. I think the BB's shape has helped me break the hand-to-mouth fixation that one has with cigarettes as well. I like the BB, in fact, I LOVE it so it is my recommendation to you but there are other devices out there that people swear by.. the Chuck for instance... it's slightly less expensive than the BB and is customizeable. I plan on getting one in the near future. Regardless of what you get you will need a game plan of what you want to accomplish and need. Here's an idea:

The device (BB, Chuck, or whatever)

Atomizers (2 minimum for starters)

Cartridges (I totally dig the flat tipped ones)

E-liquid (for filling cartridges - maybe start with tobacco or menthol, branch into other stuff as you get accustomed - I recommend Halocigs.com's liquids)

Batteries, chargers, adapters, etc.

It might seem like a lot of money up front but it really equates to what one might spend on cigarettes in a month or so of time. Once I started vaping with the BB I haven't looked back nor do I desire to. It's an entire new world of addiction and pleasure. In fact, regular cigarettes make me sick if I smell them burning and I've only been doing this for over a week.

Since you mentioned that your wife would also be interested in vaping you should ask the vendors for a package deal discount type thing. All it takes is an email and all of the folks I have done business with have been awesome. As a matter of fact the BB comes in black, pink, and neon purple. Black for you.. pink or purple for your wife?

I hope this helps some and happy vaping.

From what I've read, its hard to go wrong with the 510, but i don't have one. I have a Sidesho and a 902 from modernvapor.com. If you were thinking of a Blu or Volcano based on size, go for the Sidesho instead. I love it. And I LOVE the 902 but its just slightly thicker and longer (The Office anyone?:). My wife prefers the Sidesho.
I doubt you could go wrong with the 510 though and I hear Cignot is great as well.

You actually can refill them, but its better/easier to buy a pack of blank carts. Buy one or two 5 packs and it will last you quite a while. There really isn't much reason to throw them away, just replace the filler inside the cart sometimes. Feel free to check out my post after my wife and I were using it for 2 weeks. We had all the same questions and were very intimidated, but it turns out we really shouldn't have been.

Also here is a link to a refilling video. I didn't look long though and this isn't the Sideshow model but you'll get the idea.

We thought we would want pre-filled carts. We were wrong. We also thought we'd only want "tobacco" taste. We were very wrong. I switched to flavors before my wife in fact. We can't do tobacco now and its only been a month. Most people here seem to be the same way. We thought we'd only want a auto battery. We were wrong. If you get the Sidesho, you should EACH order a "hybrid" kit as it comes with an auto and a manual battery. Those kits come with an extra atomizer (atty) so you're good there for now. Each come with a 4 pre-filled carts. You'll probably go through 3 a day if you go that route. If you think you'll want more pre-filled, order them. If you think you'll want the tastier, cheaper way, order some juice - which doesn't have to be from Tony at MV. I've listed juice links above. We each go through about 5ml a week of juice. For that juice, order 1 or 2 packs of blank carts, watch that video and don't hesitate to call or email Tony. I would also order a USB battery charger or wall charger so you can charge a battery outside of the PCC (case) just in case the case needs charging. See, you charge the case for about 5 hours THEN it can charge 4 or 5 batteries. So I feel the minimal order should be....
2 Sidesho Hybrid kits
1 or 2 packs of blank carts
USB battery charger or wall charger
Additional pre-filled carts IF you want to try that route
At least 2 weeks of juice from somewhere. Don't order too much incase you don't like this.
I think that's it for now. :)
Good luck.

rpgman, if you order from Tony again, maybe get just a 902 atty and blank carts, connect it to your Sidesho battery and give it a whirl. This way it will hardly cost anything. I love the Sidesho too. I'm using both it and the 902. I'm leaning towards the 902 I think though - although its bigger. My wife leans towards the Sidesho. Is the VK a 2 piece? I'd be curious how you like it.

yes the VK is a 2 piece.
I keep hearing how so much better cartomizer are, I thought I'd try them out.

I purchased the one with an 8 hour battery. And, I plan on refilling the cartomizer. I saw that video of how easy it was to refill them.

I just hate having to always refill the sidesho. I like the sidesho very much, but having to always charge it every 2 hours or so, and the small carts, I need something with less maintenance.

I'm hoping the VK will do that.

I'll still use the sidesho though.

or, maybe I'll order the Janty ego. I hear their lasting 7 hours plus also on the batteries.
