New to Vaping, just bought a bunch of things- CONFUSED about wicking

Hey guys,

So, new to vaping. Bought a tiny vape at a nearby store, only took 2 weeks to get to a point where it wasn't fulfilling me anymore. Did some research, and just bought a Nemesis Clone with Kraken atty. Along with these I bought 26, 28, and 30 guage kanthal wire, 3 mm ekowool silica, and some other tools needed for coiling/wicking. My main question is in regards to wicking. I know that due to the setup for genesis style attys, cotton wicking is not very feasible, and that a lot of people use SS mesh for their wicks, but I'm looking to go the SS cable route for wicking instead, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any online tutorials for this kind of wicking on a Kraken atty, or if they could explain the basic procedure for this. Thank you!

A lot of useful resources in the below link:

Information Resources for Your First RBA

Best overall tutorial that I have seen for the Genesis-style rba's:

A Genesis-style RBA was my first experience with an RBA. I wish I had started out with a rebuildable dripper or a Kayfun-style RBA, as they are MUCH easier to use. I'm not a fan of stainless mesh or the whole design of Genny's. Good luck with your Kraken.

+1 Baditudes video posted I want to also point out that the Karken and other Genni atty's can use cotton just as easily as any other wicking material. Genni's are a bit trickier to build for a new comer. read as much as you can, watch videos. Get a good battery for your Nemesis clone Sony VTC 4 or 5 suggested. Get a multimeter to check your build Ohms and most importantly for short circuits Prior to even pressing that nemesis fire button.

Well welcome to you and just jump right on in and have a great time. I imagine I will be reading something soon on what you are doing next. It is all wonderful. At the rate you are moving on up........you better go ahead and order a reo grand. Now that is the ultimate in dripping. Happy vaping to ya. :)

Thank you all for the advice! I figured I should jump right in as opposed to lollygagging around. I was smoking 2 and a half packs of Newports a day, so I need something that will hit HARD if I want to quit smoking forever. I know cotton wicking is possible with Genesis style attys, but I know some people who have the Kraken and say that it goes best with SS Cable or SS mesh wicking with an ekowool sleeve. Looking forward to spending hours being frustrated! WHOO!!!

I always use cotton wick in my Kraken (genesis style) I normally do a horseshoe type wick on a single coil build. The trick is to keep the cotton as fluffy as you can. Use both wick holes with a single strand of cotton and feed it through the wick holes all the way to the bottom of the tank. And don't forget, you can't really lay a genesis style atty on its side or it will leak, so make sure you keep it upright when not in use.

I'm new to the Kraken too. Want to try steel mesh wicking soon and I'll get some steel cable too. I haven't had any dry hits or trouble wicking with cotton. Maybe because I built my coil on 7/64 drill bit so the cotton isn't choked. The pic shows how the cotton in the well has swelled.

Any thoughts from more experienced builders appreciated. :)
