Maybe you shouldn't spend the whole $200 on your first set up. I'll throw in a completely different opinion. Get an iStick 40w TC for less than 30 bucks, you'll have TC whenever you want to try that and then buy a couple of different tanks to use on it. I'm not sure if you mentioned; are you going to vape DTL or MTL like analog cigs and that blu? My suggestions for decent tanks would be the Toptank mini, comes w/ an rba so you can practice, and maybe a Cubis. Both inexpensive and decent.

Ok, TS is comming from BLU's....and I see recommendations for an RX200 with a Boreas??
That's the complete opposite of the spectrum. Don't you think he will be better served with an intermediate device?

- As a device I recommend the Evic vtc mini or the Joyetech Pico. Both go to 75w and have all the options you need for all sorts of vaping (different wires, TC, MTL, DL) and can be had for around $30

- As a tank I would choose a versatile tank so you can try your options. Preferable one with both an RBA and factory coils, so you are not required to build your coils straight out of the gate, but can ease into it.

I recommend the Micro TFV4 or the UD Simba. Both are however pretty new, so you might want to wait for some reviews, but they seem good. Both allow factory coils and an RBA. The RBA of the Simba looks easier as it has posts instead of screws, so I recommend that one, first reports are pretty good.
Both can be had for around $25
If you need more proven tech you can take a look at the Kanger toptank, also about $25

Buy some batteries and a decent charger, will set you back about $25
Buy some factory coils say for about $20, and some RBA supplies for say another $30 (coil, wick and some tools)

For example a setup with the evic and tfv4 micro:
$30 - device (evic vtc mini)
$25 - tank (micro tfv4)
$25 - batteries and charger (2* samsung 25r and nitecore d2)
$20 - factory coils (1 package 1.8 (MTL), 1 package 0.3 clapton (DL)
$33 - RBA supplies (26 and 28 Ga Kanthal ($5), 26 and 28Ga SS ($6), cotton ($5), coiler ($6), tweezer (3$), ohm meter ($6), scissors ($2) and wire cutter ($3)=$33

total: $133 and with this your are all set to take your vape most places you wanna go, except super low ohm high wattage vaping, but really don't think that's where you want/need to go right now.

It also leaves you around $60 to get an higher power device or dedicated RTA if you really want to in the future.

All prices are FT (except batteries and charger, buy them local)

My goodness! What are people thinking here? Coming from a blue, you recommend a 200w three battery brick and then some one else say $200 will only get you mediocre gear? What kind of advice are we giving out to a newb these days on ECF. I'm just surprised no one said "get a provaree and be done with it".

To the OP. Keep it simple for your first mod. I like to recommend a built in battery like the Cool Fire IV for a first mod as they are simple and don't require the additional purchase of batteries or a charger and then a good Pyrex replaceable coil tank like the Mini Nautilus. These will keep you happy for a long time, are simple, and will let you get your feet wet without blowing your entire budget. No need for super expensive gear at this point in your vaping journey.

And to a few of you others: From a ciga-like to RX200? Seriously? Try to recommend things that might fit the criterion of the individuals needs not what you happen to have in your hand at the time.

There are a lot of decent mods out there to get you started. My brother is a new vaper and I got him set up with a Cuboid with the Cubis tank and he loves it. The Cuboid is a nice mod that can be upgraded for higher wattage. he just uses his at 25 watts on a .5 ohm coil. The Cuboid is nice looking and pocket friendly but will also require an investment in batteries and a charger. There is also Council of Vapors mini Volt starter kit that has built in batteries and has been getting decent reviews.

At least its not that bad here like I saw on another forum. To be fair this was on a sports forum with a single thread dedicated to vaping.

A guy who described himself as a noob asks for advice on a starter kit. Only has used a cigalike kit, posts a link to an Innokin VV3 and wants to know if its complicated to use or to suggest a recommended starter kit. Said hes not familiar with adjustable wattage/voltage devices. Most replies were reasonable suggestions. One idiot posts links to Wismec noisy cricket and tugboat RDA., and pics of his setup, the noisy cricket with tugboat.

Noob replies "it says for experienced vapors only, and that eliminates me".

Idiot replies all you need to know is how to install the batteries the right way, and you can google whatever else you need to know.

Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure to.get a good tank that I can buy replaceable coils for. I won't get a built-in battery mod, i don't trust the durability of anything with a built-in battery, its bound to lose its rechargibility over time.

Well, you have a point to an extent. First off, I believe you are confusing durability with longevity. Some of the built in battery mods like the Innokin MVP and Coolfire IV are extremely durable and considered some of the most dependable mods on the market. They can take an incredible beating that would destroy most other mods. However the battery will indeed deplete eventually and it will need to be replaced just like 18650's will eventually deplete and need to be replaced. The CFIV can be had for <$35 with the theoretical battery life of 1.5-2 years. By then your mod will be scratched and beat up and the newest and coolest will be calling you. Who knows where vaping will be in 2 years. The upside to the built in battery (aside from cost) is the ability to charge it any where and not having to deal with chargers and replaceables. It's a trade off but for a person new to vaping, I think the convenience out weigh the disadvantages.

For a tank, this one has been getting a lot of good reviews from some experienced folks. It is inexpensive, pyrex, and accepts three different types of replaceable coils. It is a mouth to lung tank (which I think is where you are at). I just bought one for my nephew who is new to vaping and he really likes it.

Best of luck on your vaping journey!

Honestly, sometimes I think some of you guys have forgotten what it's like to be new. Rebuildables? We don't all start out knowing how to build coils, and I feel that, that is something you need to take the time to learn. You don't just jump into it.
The eVic mini is an excellent choice for your first mod. A reliable workhorse, with enough power and advances to grow with you, as you progress. Since you are moving from a cig-a-like, I'm going to assume you are more comfortable with mouth-to-lung. Someone mentioned a Nautilus mini, which is nice. Another good starter tank is the GS Air. Better airflow options then the Nautilus, and nicer price. So if you decide to upgrade your gear, it will be easier on your wallet. I do suggest that, since you are going to a B&M, look all you like, then buy online. It is another good idea to have a backup. For an extra $20 maximum, you can get an AIO for emergencies.
