First of all, hello everyone. I'm pretty new to vaping, it's only been about a month now. I use a tesla invader 3, and i need help. So, right now i have a pair of batteries and they're both clone black awt, i thought it would be good to use clone batteries for now and see if i want a better battery or just stick with clones, and so far, these batteries have been good! But i somehow scratched the insulation skin, (i guess from taking the battery out from the mod?) And i want to know if this battery is bad enough to damage my mod or if it's still good. If it's bad and i nneed to throw it away, i will do it, of course. And also, please give me suggestions for a better battery, that would be very appreciated. Thanks everyone, have a nice day. P.S. the damage is on the negative pole, i don't know if that's important or not but i just wanted to say it. Thanks again, everyone.

Clones are a crapshoot. Sometimes they’re ok, sometimes they vent for no good reason, sometimes they’re merely filled with sand.

Scratching through the plastic wrap can in fact be dangerous as the battery can make electrical contact through the hole. There is a solution, however; you can rewrap it with a new battery sleeve. Battery sleeves are widely available and are heat shrink. You remove the old wrap, saving the insulation doughnut on the positive terminal (you need that it’s important) put the battery in the new sleeve, fit the doughnut on the positive terminal, and use a heat source to shrink the plastic on. A hair dryer or a heat gun work best, but any heat source will function. I’ve done it with a gas stove top for example.

As for better batteries, Mooch's blog | E-Cigarette Forum is the best source for battery information. Mooch is the local battery guru and tests and rates various batteries. He has a list of which batteries are good and what their outputs actually are. Also there is a list of trusted vendors from which you should be able to order both good batteries and battery wraps.

I'll try replacing the plastic wrap and try to find new batteries. Thanks for the info! As you said, clones are really random. They can work fine, they can drop immensely in quality after some time, and some straight up don't work. But the pair that i have actually works pretty well so i didn't really want to throw them out or something. Thank you! I'll replace the plastic wrap and get right back to business ^^

Put some electrical tape on it. And get some new non clone batteries from a reliable vendor. What do you mean by clone exactly, by the way? Are they fake awt's or you just mean awt uses other companies cells and rewraps with their label?
They are fake awt's. I will try getting non clone batteries though, it's nice to have two pairs so i can go back and forth between them. Thank you!

That battery needs to be either re-wrapped or discarded properly (tape over the positive end and recycled at a Home Depot or other hardware store).

Please don't use clone or off brand batteries. And please don't use any battery brand other than authentic Lg, Samsung, or Sony. Batteries are the MOST IMPORTANT part of your gear setup. It never pays to use a cheaper, inferior battery from either a performance, financial, or safety perspective.

You sound like you need a mini-course on vaping batteries:

Battery Basics for Mods: The Definative Battery Guide for Vaping
Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 1
Are You Using a Rewrap (Rebranded or Aftermarket) Battery?

How to choose batteries for a regulated mod:

Are you using a single, dual, or triple battery mod? In the interests of keeping things simple:

-If you use a good quality 15 amp CDR battery like the Samsung 30Q or Sony VTC6, then you are good up to 45 watts per battery; 90 watts using two; 135 watts for three batteries.

-If you use a good quality 20 amp CDR battery like the LG HG2 or Samsung 25R then you are good for 60 watts per battery. If using a 2-battery regulated mod, you're good for 120 watts as you have two batteries. If you are using a 3-battery mod, you're good for 180.

-If you use a single 25 amp CDR battery like the Sony VTC5A, then you are good for 75 watts per battery, 150 watts for two batteries, and 225 watts with three.

-If you use a single 30 amp CDR battery like the LG HB6 you are good up to 90 watts; with a pair of 30 amp CDR batteries you could safely do 180 watts.

Using anything else other than good quality genuine batteries from Sony LG or Samsung is likely to result in poor performance or possibly 1st degree burns. Buying fakes or rewraps is a false economy as well as often having poor performance, they are often more expensive than genuine batteries.
Batteries are arguably the most important part of a vaping setup, and also the part most likely to injure you.

The entire outer case of an 18650 is the negative terminal, so a tear anywhere has the potential for a short circuit and impromptu fireworks.

Re-wrapping an 18650 is easy and cheap. Here's a step by step guide with links to wrap suppliers.

Thank you for the tutorial link, i was planning to buy a rewrap but i didn't know how to apply it. Also, i'll try to get rid of my fake batteries and use real authentic ones from now on. And also, i'm thankful you recommended me those battery vendors, but unfortunately i'm in nowhere near usa or the uk. I'm in Asia, so for now i buy stuff from online shops or local vape shops. Thank you for the warnings, i'll keep that in mind when buying batteries.

That is very helpful. I discard my batteries at the Home Depot Bin and never really knew how to pack them so I either keep it in the plastic cover and discard the whole thing that way or I wrap it in a ton of saran wrap on the battery and then put that in a ziploc bag and then tape over the bag ---overkill I guess. Tape over positive terminal is so much more efficient ....lol Thx
