hello everyone my name is Don and I am new to vaping. i decided to vape to kick my pack a day habit. so far so good im down to about 3 to 4 cigarettes a day. so i guess ill start with my set up i have a vision spinner 2. with an aspire nautilis (spell check) tank. i mean so far i love it. for the first couple days the throat hit was pretty bad and i was using a 50/50 pg/vg blend with 12mg nic. so i searched and searched and found that if i get a blend with more vg then the throat hit will be smaller. the only problem is is that my local vape shop said that with my set up i can only run a 50/50 blend and nothing more because it will not vape in my setup. is that true??:toast:

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

The amount of nic in your juice contributes much more to throat hit than the PG/VG ratio of your eliquid. While 100% VG may not wick as well as a PG/VG blend, you can thin down 100% VG eliquid by adding several drops of distilled water to each tank. You'll have to experiment with how much water works best for you.

The nautilus is a bottom coil clearo; the bottom coil clearos can handle higher vg better than the topcoil clearos.
You can reduce throat hit by using lower nic level;

When you first change over from cigarettes to vaping it helps alot to keep another tank with some of the higher strength liquid for if you feel a craving, but vape lower strength most of the time.

I can run 100 vg in my nautilus mini with a couple drops of Distilled water. 3-4 drop depending on the viscosity of the VG. IN the full size you might need 5-7?

I did notice that I cannot chain vape as it is slower to wick. 70/30 and below did not give me issues. Thick sweet VG juices will wreck coils pretty quick.

Hi Don and Welcome to the forum. This would be the best place to ask those questions. There are a lot of good people here willing to help out anyway they can. Glad to here you are not smoking analogs as much. I also have just started with smoking less and vaping more as time went on. Now I haven't had an analog in 1 month and a day. Worked good for me. I have the same setup as you. What do you have the voltage set up at? Also +1 on the thinning of VG with distilled water. As far as your ejuice being left alone (no distilled water) I would agree that is right because of how thick VG is. I would also add that flavoring also contributes to the throat hit because I run flavored at about 18 mg/ml and unflavored at 24 mg/ml. Some 18's have a harder throat hit than my unflavored 24 in my experience.

Yup thats exactly what you should do;
you start at 50/50 then try 60/30 or 40/60 and see how it goes.

You won't mess up your setup by experimenting. Just try not to let your coils run dry. Once you start getting "dry hits" (and you continue to vape) that burnt taste does not go away.

I sometimes take an "unpowered hit" with the air hole covered if I sense that the coil may need a little more juice. This will pull in more juice to the coil so that it is available when I press the battery button.

Welcome aboard
"my local vape shop said that with my set up i can only run a 50/50 blend and nothing more because it will not vape in my setup."
If this is the kind of advice you get from your local shop, you need a new shop.
I vape reduced pg juice, this is vg juice with only the pg from nic and flavoring added. And yes, I have vaped it in a naut, pt, pt2, puritank, kayfun with no problems. The thicker juice may require that you reduce the air flow but it will vape satisfactorily. Been there done that.

Help!!!! I have the innokin itaste 1280, I'm using 28mg nic, with a 50/50 mix! For the longest I have smoked Marlboro light 72's and was told this is equal tho that. I smoked about a pack and a half, but I seem to vape more now, but get a headache around noon. Is my nic level too high???

If you are getting a headache your nic level is too high. A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day:

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

If the nic is too high you should get a headache and a little queasy in the stomach any time you vape a similar amount. You can rule this out by lowering the nicotine. But this isn't necessarily related to vaping. What else have you been trying to change?

And 72s are short cigs. I think you;d be better around 12 mg my friend, assuming your setup is halfway decent.

headache is a sign of too much nic; don't stick to 1 nicotine strength; get a special tank and keep higher nicotine strength in it but use a lower strength as your regular routine;

I run 70vg/30pg in my protank mini without a problem. You'll be fine. Every juice has its own TH. Experiment, try everything, every brand, flavor, pg/vg mix, nic level. Just get off those cigs. Ive been vaping a year and a half. No cigs. I dont miss them at all. Heres one tip: if you find yourself chainvaping at night(like me) , vape a low nic juice(6mg or lower). otherwise the nicotine buzz will keep you up all night. I vape 0mg nic after 10.

I would try the VG in the nautilus. If the wicks cant keep the thick VG to the coils fast enough and you get dry hits, get an Atlantis and it will keep up. Never hurts to have 2 toppers imho.

PS, you're going to need a sub-ohm capable battery for the Atlantis.
What exactly do you mean by a sub-ohm battery. I know this is going to sound like a newb question but do you mean replace the battery in the spinner two or get a new piece to attach my tank to?? Is a battery and a mod the same thing? Sorry if i sound like a complete idiot haha

Also on a side not can anyone recommend a second tank for me. I really like how I can adjust the fresh air intake on my nautilus. But I'm kinda broke at the moment one because of the holidays and two because in a college student. So any recommendations for tank that's not 30 dollars but I could still get good capes off of?
