I started vaping one week ago to quit dipping snuff tobacco. I didn't smoke, only dip. I was a smoker about 10 years ago but quit. Anyway, its been a week and I've been vaping 24mg juice pretty frequently. My throat is getting tender and kind of sore and my lungs feel irritated. Its not severe, but it forces me to vape less. I suspect its mostly the high levels of nic causing irritation to the soft tissues in my throat and lungs since I wasn't used to that at all for about a decade. Thoughts? I got not problem trying to vape right through the discomfort and get used to it. After all, I got a provari on the way, I can't stop now!
Also, the biggest issue I have is the back of the throat, right in the "throat hit" area. It stings and causes a cough reflex when taking a hit sometimes.

I would think your nic level is too high, also, are you drinking plenty of water? Vaping can dry you out quickly.

I do drink water while vaping, but it only helps a little. I'm dropping down to 18 very soon. 24mg was good for the first week of not dipping, and necessary for the needed nic levels. But I'm ready to drop it down now and enjoy some less harsh vape.

Always by ur side
Try lowering your nic level or get a higher VG percent or adding menthol to get a smoother vape.
I started with 18mg when i first vaped and it irritate my throat a lot and i try adding some menthol which actually smooth it but still quite harsh on it. So eventually, i drop to 11mg and found it perfect for me.
Now im on 9mg
Experiment a little :vapor:

Even though I am still a moderate newbie to vaping I can tell you that the information posted above is AMAZING and right on point ... I had to add a really cool clean menthol to mine and it worked amazingly .... if you dont like plain water grab you a bottle of MIO at the grocery store ... it's like 3 bucks and comes in flavors ... I use that because plain water really does nothing for me .... and I have cut out a lot of sodas and tea and I have lost weight as well as quit analogs .... which usually quitting analogs and losing weight do not belong in the same sentence ... LOL

Someone gave me a cough drop to have in the mouth while vaping. All pain gone during the vape. That was on day one though. It works, but I don't always want a cough drop in my mouth lol. I got some 18mg on the way and i'll see how it goes. Soon after that, down to 16mg, but I don't see myself going much lower because I like the nic actually and would find vaping to be kind of empty without it.

Slowly get into the habit of not inhaling. You don't need to inhale. The nicotine is absorbed through the walls of the mouth and nose. It takes conscious effort and a bit of experimenting to get it right, but it is worth the effort.

You may miss the quick hit that a cigarette gives and by inhaling, maybe you fool yourself into thinking that you can get that nicotine hit quicker. But that's just not how vaping works. Nicotine from a cigarette goes to the brain in seconds, vaping takes more like 3 minutes.

At first, throat hit was important to me, but I by far prefer to not inhale these days. Finding new ways to take in the vaper and learning what to do with it once it's in your mouth can open up a whole new vaping experience.

A sore throat can go within a few weeks. And as has been said, drink lots of water. All of these things may help.

Happy Vaping :toast:

Damn. I took a few long, slow drags (much bigger vape than I could inhale) and just inhaled very slightly and let it float around in the mouth. Bigger nic delivery, less throat pain. It will bother the nasal passage a little, but nothing like the throat and lung pain. Good stuff guys and thanks. I'll go back to big inhales with some lesser nic juice, but for the strong stuff, mouth and nose seems to be the ticket.

EDIT: Just got some 18mg soaked up and I can vape it like a beast! Life is gooooood.

I had similar problems, coughing & sore throat. That fades out after a few weeks. What helped me, I believe, was that I avoided e-liquids with artificial flavorings and only used ones that had natural flavorings.

Where did you find the natural flavorings? The artificial ones are bothering my stomach.
