About 2 months ago I decided to pull the trigger and buy a eGo-C Twist Starter Kit w/ v2.5 Vivi Nova from a store across town. At the time I had no idea what I was buying, or getting myself into...

I think I got a handle on most of it, but my eliquid that I bought either has lost it's flavor, deadened my taste buds, or my C Twist is not working properly. I get a decent amount of vapor, but has the flavor of that fog machine at concerts...
What I bought was Classic tobacco (60/40) from Bombvapor, and recently learning about steeping I decided to give it a whirl, but alas no improvement.

Also, I don't have a ton of money to be able to go out and just try things right now so any suggestions or insights to what might be the issue would be a great help. I'm hoping that it is just the liquid I bought, and a quick trip to the shop can resolve this.

Well, just beware that there is such a term known as Vapor's Tongue. Year's of smoking has affected your ability to taste, and the condition can worsen or improve within a couple days time. Using the same flavor over time can oversaturate your tongue to the point of not being able to enjoy that flavor any longer.

If you have a vendor that allows sampling of their flavors in the shop, take advantage of that. If not, buying smaller bottles to try or purchase sampler packs from online vendors that offer them is the best approach to take without wasting money on larger size bottles of flavors you may not care for. Once you find a winner, buy more in a larger size.

Also be sure to exhale some of your vapor through your nose, as it can assist your tongue in distinguishing and enjoying flavors until your tongue heals. Also drink PLENTY of water to prevent dehydration and dry mouth, which can also affect your sense of taste. The pg and vg in e-liquids pull water from our body and must be adequately replaced.

I'd also recommend that you give cartotanks a try as a juice delivery device. Many people believe that the string wicked delivery devices such as vivi novas and clearomizers can mute certain flavors.

Welcome, your taste buds will be dull at first. It may just be your flavor as well. I suggest looking for a sample pack of e-juice. Thais way you can find if it is the flavor and you will get different flavors to test at the same time. Just look around. There are some really good deals on sample packs. If you can get 2 flavors going at once. That is what I do to keep one flavor from dulling on me.

Welcome to vaping, toolongtospell, and welcome to ECF!

Your tongue does quickly get inured to a particular flavor, so that subsequent tokes will apparently give you little to no flavor.

While various menthols are my usual vape flavor, I always have four or five full setups loaded with different and highly contrasting flavors from which I toke during the course of a day. And I've been vaping for two years, more than long enough to get over that initial case of Vaper's Tongue.

Also, word to the wise. These devices can fail, or you can forget something (like leaving the charger in your office over the weekend) or lose something. You really want lots of backups. So, get ready to spend a fair amount of coin assembling a bunch of what seems to be extra hardware!

Well thanks for the advice on the "Vaper's Tongue". I have been smoking the same liquid for about 2 months SO, I'm guessing that my taste buds are dead to the flavor.

Doing some reading around ECF I have found a favored B&M store only about 10 miles from me.

From what I have been reading the RY4 flavor sound like a nice change (vanilla,caramel,tobacco), I'm not a fan of menthol since I smoked regular analog cigarettes, but haven't ever tried any fruity flavors. Any flavors that y'all recommend?

I can vouch for you here and tell you that the vivi nova isn't that great when it comes to flavour. It tends to mute it regardless of what you throw in there. If you are looking for a similar clearomizer I'd recommend the iclear 30. Dual coil beast, just be sure not to tighten the head on too much as that got me off to a bad start. But all is well now.

I'm to new to give advise, but wanted to say "Welcome to ECF" :)

Just because you're new doesn't mean to say you can't advise people. I'm new myself but would love to help out so people don't have the same troubles i did on getting a setup that works foe them straight off the bat.if you have some useful information by all means share.

It took me weeks of research in understanding all of this, if only I'd found this place sooner :)

Welcome to ECF! Yes, I believe what you're experiencing is the Vaper's Toungue scenario as Baditude explained and that happens to many of us. As for flavor recommendations, it's really subjective to your taste. Personally, I like the creamy/fruit mix flavors and the occasional desert/bakery flavor. If you're local B&M store has samples, try as many as you can and get the ones you really like. Also, keep in mind that your taste buds will recover from smoking in the months ahead, so it's not unusual for your favorite flavors to change as that happens.

I'd recommend the iclear 30. Dual coil beast.

So is it the increased amount of wicks in the iClear that make it better than the Vivi Nova's? Or are they built/function differently? I like the ease of clearomizer (which the iClear is) but I'm just wondering what makes them operate better?

Also, another thing that is getting mixed up in my head is the different attachment to batteries.
So far I know:
Batteries = mods
Atomizers = heads
Cartomizers = containment for e-Liquid
Clearomizers = clear version of a cartomizer
Drip = Involves dripping e-Liquid onto a atomizer

But what I am confused about is I hear that cartomizers are filled with cotton like a zippo that the liquid soaks into , but I have also heard Vivi Novas called Cartomizer Tank.

Are there two types of wicking for clearomizer and cartomizers? Wick and Cotton padding?
I need to do some more reading...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was just one google search away...
http://www.mister-e-liquid.com/pages/What-is-a-Cartomizer?.html
That explained it really well....
